I LOVE living at the Collective! I lived her last year and renewed my lease for this year, which locked in my price at a very low and reasonable rate! They provide a shuttle that takes you to and from campus, which drops off conveniently at Memorial Student Union. We haven’t had any issues that would need emergency maintenance, but we have used the regular maintenance a few. They have always showed up the day after I put in the request to fix whatever we issued. David, at the front office, has been extremely helpful anytime I’ve called to ask any questions or expressed any concerns. The staff is always willing to help. The amenities are great! There’s a massive pool, hot tub, grills, a gym, yoga room, dog park, basketball court, corn hole, and sand volleyball, which are all free to every resident. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else while spending my four years in Columbia!

I just moved to the collective this semester and so far so good. I will say make sure you have house slippers because down stairs can be cold at times since it’s not carpet but I am enjoying my stay and love the pool! Also the b shuttle is very convenient especially when there is literally no parking on campus . Just make sure you come 15-10 minutes early to the bus stop

Do not live here. You can do better. I lived here because I took a sublease from someone. Firstly, the houses- They look pretty on the outside and try to cater to a modern, minimalist, "clean" aesthetic but the property and furniture is actually old and cheap. The flooring in each of the units is cold, hard concrete that never looks or stays clean no matter what you do. The carpet is stained and old. The "fully furnished" room that is advertised is actually a rock-hard bed that hasn't been replaced since 1992, a cheap steel frame, and painted particleboard as the headboard. You also get the bonus of one table, one rickety nightstand, and a hard chair. Wow. You'll need to buy a mattress topper in order to actually sleep on the bed to begin with, so at that point you would've been better off buying a mattress. The walls are paper thin and the high ceilings make sound echo, so be prepared to hear every single sound your roommates make, especially if you're in a 4 person house. You'll hear every single footstep and bump and conversation all night. You also will get a ton of road noise especially if you're in the "front" houses. You'll hear loud cars all the way up until 3am revving their engines and blasting music, so good luck getting any sleep. You are right next to a factory too, so you'll get to hear loud buzzing and talking over their intercom all morning and all day. Lights that are brighter than the sun are installed directly outside of the windows on every unit, so you'll need to buy a blackout curtain unless you want to feel like you're getting sunlight 24/7 through your window. A few months ago, they just replaced all of the locks in every single house to be a smart lock system rather than a physical lock and key. I did some research on the company (homebase) and from what I could tell the only reason they did this was to "save money" and also being able to track every time that you enter and exit your apartment, as well as lock you out remotely. That comes with the added bonus of not being able to get in to your apartment AT ALL if your phone dies! When I initially took this lease from someone, it was at the beginning of January 2025. The day that I went to go and get my keys I asked how much time I had to renew the lease in case I liked it. The front desk person assured me that I had plenty of time (a few weeks) So, a few weeks goes by and I attempt to settle in. Wanting to secure a place to live, I call back and ask how much time there is to sign. I'm informed that the last date for renewals was in DECEMBER (?!?!) and that I was SOL. Huh?? So I explain what happened and I'm assured by an (honestly quite rude) front desk person that they will draft a lease and send it to me right away. Well, they draft a new lease renewal and I sign it. I knew I was going to not need the full year of 2026, so I started asking my roommates if they knew anyone who would want to sublet off of me. My roommates then tell me THAT THEIR FRIENDS ALREADY SIGNED A LEASE FOR MY ROOM?? so they didn't know how that was going to work. Are you kidding me? So I call the front office back, confused, and only then does the girl realize her mistake. She says there's nothing she can do even though I already signed the lease and said that the only thing she could do was move me to a new unit in the same complex. After that? Absolutely not. Extremely unprofessional and sloppy. Also, I had to use the public wifi the entire time that I lived there because the wifi in my unit just straight up didn't work and every single time I called the office about it I was rudely told that white sky had to fix it and there was nothing they could do. Then I contacted white sky and they said my apartment had to fix it!! Just do yourself a favor and don't live here. You can do so much better for the price. The "amenities" are not worth it. They make themselves sound so much better than they are to trap naive college students and suck them dry for every nickel and dime. DO NOT LIVE HERE!! RUN!!

Popular place. Nice big rooms, and common spaces. Flex your rent biweekly, credit reporting, and the entire property is well maintained. Fresh paint being done now. I spent a year here, and enjoyed my time. Location is prime. Quite at night. Safe. No riff raff the entire time I was there. Plenty of walking trails. Book early, it’s in demand.

I’ve loved living at The Collective! Our unit was clean, spacious, and odor-free when we moved in, which made settling in so easy. Maintenance is always quick to respond to any requests, which I really appreciate. The amenities—like the gym, pool, hot tub, and clubhouse—are all modern and well-maintained. The shuttle is super convenient, always arriving on time and dropping off right by Memorial, which is perfect for my classes. Plus, the bus driver is super friendly! The staff around the complex have also been helpful and kind, and host lots of fun events and free food for residents! I was very excited to renew my lease this year, especially at such a reasonable rate. Highly recommend The Collective!
