I lived at Hideaway Gainesville, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. The biggest issue was the management. I understand that policies exist, but there was very little willingness to work with residents when unexpected circumstances outside of their control came up. Instead of feeling heard, I often felt dismissed. The inspections also seemed pointless. They would come into the apartment mainly to see if it was clean, but many actual maintenance issues were overlooked. For example, I was charged for a small hole in my bedroom door. I was told maintenance would repair it. Maintenance came, measured the door, said they would be back, and never returned. When I first moved in, the floors were extremely dirty, which was disappointing for a unit that was supposed to be move-in ready. Another issue was the laundry room light. It barely worked, and you had to flip the switch over and over just to get it to come on. A maintenance worker even asked us what was wrong with it and acted concerned, but no one ever came back to fix it. When the fire department came to inspect the smoke alarms, one alarm had been left improperly installed after maintenance became frustrated and walked away. I was almost charged over something that wasn’t my fault. Communication between the office staff was also frustrating. I would explain something by phone or email to one employee, only to have another employee contact me asking for the exact same information as if no one communicated with each other. The attitudes in the leasing office, especially from the property manager and assistant property manager, were the worst part of my experience. I always tried to speak respectfully, but I often felt like I was being talked down to instead of treated like an adult. Respect should go both ways. Overall, I cannot recommend Hideaway Gainesville based on my experience. There were too many issues with communication, maintenance, and customer service. I hope management takes resident concerns more seriously and makes improvements because the people who live here deserve better.

I would be cautious before renting here. Yes, it's livable, but the main manager is rude and there's a lack of conscientious on how the higher ups treat you. The rest of the office staff is really sweet, but they usually can't help much. I had to beg (and was denied) picking up my keys early because of a FUNERAL I had to attend at the beginning of the year. The manager finally gave me the keys only 2 HOURS early on move in day with a smirk commenting, "Since we're doing this, you're gonna give us a great review." No ma'am -- I am not. No condolences for my losses, nothing. The apartment itself is not terrible. Maintenance is timely, but when we notified them of water damage in the ceiling, they simply painted over it rather than fixing the real problem. Not to mention my room was covered in dust and had mold in the shower and sink when I moved in. I always deep clean and you will not believe what came out of the drain... The office is open at odd hours if you work a typical 9-5, makes it hard to get packages. Be wary of parking because they will boot your car, not only when you park in the wrong spot, but even if your registration has lapsed. Convenient location if you're a UF student. I've lived in many different places - LA, Nashville, Washington DC, and more. Overall, this is the worst management I've had to deal with and my least favorite apartment. It works if you're in a pinch, but I would tour other places before you make a decision.

!!!Save your money and do not sign a lease here!!! First of all, they will let anybody just move in here. I had what you call “Roommates from hell” management was supposed to transfer me into a different unit after so many issues that I’ve had living with these people & was supposed to have a meeting in the office with my roommates but that never happened. The office will never follow up on issues you are having. You might as well just not say anything & live with it be because nothing will ever get resolved. I paid the transfer fee and everything come to find out there was actually not a spot available so I was given a credit back to my account from the transfer fee. If you want your boyfriend or girlfriend to move in with you, you can so do that their guest policy does not apply which is in every lease you sign. This “extra” person has been living in the apartment for 4 months now & the office does not do anything about this situation. I signed a lease to live with 2 other people, but I ended up living with 3 people and it’s a nightmare. Utilities has been super high with this extra person not on the lease & isn’t fair bc the person living there for free doesn’t pay a portion of the bill at all. I also don’t feel comfortable with living with somebody who is not on the lease I have confronted management about it several times and sent in video footage from my ring camera with this person having a key coming in at all hours of the of the night without the actual person they are living with in the lease. The office has not done anything about it. I also was supposed to live an apartment with no pets, but the person who has been living at the apartment not on the lease has a dog that comes over and basically lives there as well. The only positive thing I can say about this apartment complex is the maintenance turnaround is pretty quick. Beware moving in here is all I have to say now.

Do not rent here. Upon move in, a year ago, in the move in inspection the mattress was destroyed, which I mentioned in my portal, a new mattress was also requested. This request was denied because they “did not have any available.” Upon move out they are charging $500 for said mattress. They refused to issue a refund and said the charge must be disputed. The dispute has been made. They said they will send my payment to collections if not paid within 30 days, so I inquired about this and they said as long as I receive a confirmation of my dispute then all is well. I have not received a confirmation, and when called to ask about this they tell me time and time again there is no one I can contact and nothing that can be done about a charge I should have never received. This is just a fraction of what you’ll deal with if you rent here. Disrespectful staff. Sydney. Not worth it.

The parking situation is actually ridiculous. You’ll get a boot if you park in unlabeled spots. I got one when I first moved here but now I got another one because the permit that they gave me expired after a year… I didn’t realize that and they didn’t give me one when I renewed. They didn’t send me an email. I think it’s ridiculous to get booted in a non-labeled spot to begin with by I literally have a sticker and still got booted. Their communication is lacking and the parking is always sparse anyway. Even if parking wasn’t the only issue you also have maintenance problems, dryers and ovens being outdated and stopping working. AC acting up. And oh if you work remote or need to study? The internet only works 3 weeks out of each month. Do not move here.
