The Pointe State College, state-college-pa

I lived at The Pointe for two years and have a relatively negative opinion on it. Rent was relatively cheap compared to where my friends stayed and that was nice considering the kitchen being ok and each roommate having separate rooms and bathrooms. However, there were a bunch of problems not only in the apartment but also with the property in general. For the apartment, the windows are well out-of-date, and mine and my roommates leaked. In fact, most of the things that came with the apartment are out-of-date, such as the beds and washing machine. My bathroom ceiling leaked on multiple occasions and two of my roommates carpets were ripped off the floor before we even moved in. The sauna advertised when we agreed to rent the first time simply never existed, and the pool is open basically never. The basketball court was consistently dusty, making it very dangerous to play on. Several potholes outside our building were never fixed, despite them appearing relatively early in our two-year stay and several maintenance requests. Speaking of maintenance, most of the time they never fixed anything and simply said things were just old. The towing of cars is ridiculous, my roommate got his car towed despite obviously living here but also having his car registered. There isn't enough visitor parking, yet there being too many spots (albeit, small) for residents. Lastly, the WiFi was horrendous, though they are fixing that, of course after we are leaving. Overall, this is a fine place to stay if you are trying to save money and not live downtown, however there is a LOT to be improved on.

I would not recommend living at The Pointe State College to anyone. The biggest issue is the management and staff, who have been incredibly difficult to deal with regarding almost any problem. Maintenance requests are frustratingly slow, and issues that should be simple often take way too long to get resolved — if they get resolved properly at all. Communication is poor, and getting a clear answer or actual help feels nearly impossible. On top of that, the staff often come across as disorganized and unhelpful, which makes dealing with any issue far more stressful than it needs to be. The move-out process was especially frustrating, with questionable charges that felt excessive and poorly explained. Overall, for the price and expectations of student housing, the experience was disappointing and unnecessarily stressful. I’d strongly suggest looking at other housing options before signing here.

They show up unannounced. During the winter, the heat did not work at all. They end up giving us faulty heaters. The bed were grimy so make sure to get a cover. Probably one of the laziest maintenance team, they couldn’t even stop the sink from dripping. Electricity bill is high in the winter after maintenance left the balcony door open and they took no accountability. Electricity and gas bill can go up to over a 100 dollar. So whatever your initial rent is add 120 dollars on top of that especially in the winter. So if you’re paying 800, it’s really 920. They communicate with you but nothing gets done

I visited a friend at The Pointe and I loved the community. She gave me a tour and it seems like such a beautiful place to live. The Pointe offers many great features such as a gym, computer lab, game room, pool access and so much more. I was also very fond of the peaceful environment and the friendly neighbors. It’s an enjoyable community to live in and I had a great time visiting. I would highly recommend The Pointe to any college student looking for a place to live!

Safety is clearly not a top priority! Disappointing the office staff doesn’t take safety issues seriously. Then wants to play the game of contradictions. First, they didn’t know about it and then wanted to say it was already taken care of, can’t be both! Even further disappointing that they couldn’t understand what was being asked. I understand another company and not the on site maintenance crew are the ones that would be taking care of the actual repair but my question of when they would be blocking the staircase off seemed beyond their ability to comprehend. It took approximately 45 minutes after leaving the office for maintenance to show up and put a cone on the staircase. A resident (a young college student) had already taken the initiative to block the staircase using tape and a sharpie. I was informed by one of the maintenance men that they had just repaired the bottom step of the same staircase the week before. I sincerely hope they thoroughly inspect not just this staircase but others as well and do all necessary repairs and preventative maintenance before someone hurts themselves. I see other steps that look like it won’t be long before they break as well. However, I definitely wasn’t going out of my way to point that out to them. Especially since they were not only alerted by phone call but by an actual face to face conversation and didn’t seem to care but definitely wanted to be abrasive and condescending towards a legitimate concern and it took over an hour for someone to show up after being alerted to the problem.
