Wertland Square, charlottesville-va

Would not recommend living here, they do not do their job, everything in this apartment is either broken or outdated. Our dishwasher does not work at all, the washer and dryer is extremely outdated and takes four hours on a good day to dry our clothes, we have contacted maintenance several times and they told us it was our fault; now they just ignore us. Additionally, they never answer their phones even during business hours. Extremely disappointed, especially for the price I pay. Speaking of price they kept overcharging me in my roommates on a monthly basis and told us that it was correct. They only ended up correcting it after my roommates Dad had to talk to the OWNER of Wertland and Grandmarc to get it fixed and we still haven’t received the money back that they were overcharging. Just be careful before deciding to live here. This is only half of the issues that we’ve faced during our time here.

Management here is just awful - Allie and Jaime are horribly unhelpful and even disrespectful to residents. My roommate and I lived at Wertland Square from 2020-2023. We had several issues that management failed to respond to- fly infestation, broken heat in the winter, etc. Then Christmas Eve of 2022, a pipe burst in an above unit resulting in water damage in our unit. Without asking, the contractors they hired entered our unit, threw furniture out of the way to rip up carpet, and broke several of my belongings (see photos). Allie and Jaime did not even apologize, let alone offer to help with my broken furniture. Now my roommate and I have moved out, been promised the FULL refund of our security deposit, and have yet to receive a dollar after being moved out for 18+ months (despite many emails to Allie and Jaime). Greystar - I highly recommend you improve the quality of your management team at Wertland Square.

Buildup of trash in the parking lot, due to lack of dumpster provided by the landlord organization is unacceptable. Also maintenance is slow to communicate and even slower to fix the issue. We had to wait well over a week to get our sink fixed(submitting online maintenance request) and they only came after we requested maintenance to the front-desk in-person. However, the lease office workers were very nice and receptive to our problems, 5 stars for them.

We.placed an order for a mold assesment but we are not sure what the results were or if there will be any follow up

Location is the only reason I even considered 2 stars. Rent is stupid high for apartment that hasn't been updated since 1970. Both management companies were incompetent. Maintenance requests "filled" but no fix, key card nonfunctional for months, apartment damaged on arrival and not fully cleaned either and still charged for it, paint job done by preschoolers who didnt know you're supposed to tape the light switches and not get paint on the floor, wifi would stop working for days, can't troubleshoot myself because the router is locked down. Poor overall.
