University Of Westminster Accommodation

The University of Westminster traces its history to the Royal Polytechnic Institution, founded at Regent Street in 1838. The institution later became the Polytechnic of Central London before gaining university status in 1992.

Today, the university teaches through four London campus locations:

Campus

Main address

Subjects commonly taught there

Regent Campus

309 Regent Street and Little Titchfield Street

Humanities, social sciences, languages, politics, law and related subjects

Marylebone Campus

35 Marylebone Road

Business, finance, architecture, property, construction, marketing and tourism

Cavendish Campus

115 New Cavendish Street

Biomedical sciences, computer science, nutrition and psychology

Harrow Campus

Watford Road, Northwick Park

Art, design, fashion, film, music, photography, games and digital media

Regent Street, Marylebone and Cavendish all occupy central London. Students can walk from 309 Regent Street to Cavendish in about eight minutes and to Marylebone in roughly 18 minutes. Harrow follows a completely different transport pattern and uses Northwick Park station as its nearest Underground stop.

That compact central cluster gives University of Westminster student accommodation more flexibility than the university name first suggests. A room does not need to stand beside Regent Street to create a manageable commute.

Regent students leave class directly into the West End.

Oxford Circus, Soho, Carnaby Street and Fitzrovia all fall within a short walk. The Regent Street building contains the historic Regent Street Cinema, a gym, computer rooms and cafés.

Marylebone students have Regent’s Park, Baker Street and Marylebone High Street nearby. The campus includes specialist business, architecture and built-environment facilities along with a library and student services.

The central campuses lie close enough for students to use facilities beyond their own teaching building. A Marylebone student can walk to Regent Street, while Regent students can reach Cavendish without taking the Tube.

That proximity makes the accommodation journey more forgiving. A property with good access to any of Baker Street, Oxford Circus, Great Portland Street or Tottenham Court Road can serve several Westminster buildings.

Student Life at Harrow

Harrow creates a more self-contained university day.

Teaching spaces for art, film, fashion, music and digital media share the campus with Harrow Hall. Northwick Park station stands beside the university, giving residents quick access to Wembley and central London.

Harrow town centre has supermarkets, shops and a cinema a short bus journey away. Wembley Park adds restaurants, Boxpark, London Designer Outlet and major events one Underground stop towards central London.

Students who spend long periods editing, rehearsing or working in studios may value a room at Harrow Hall more than a fashionable Zone 1 address. The short walk home becomes more noticeable during deadline weeks.

Marylebone and Baker Street

Marylebone gives business, architecture and property students the shortest route to 35 Marylebone Road.

Baker Street Underground station lies less than five minutes from the campus and serves the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee and Metropolitan lines. Regent’s Park begins a short walk north, while Marylebone High Street, supermarkets, cafés and restaurants cover most everyday needs.

The main difficulty comes from housing costs. Private studios and flats in NW1 carry central London rents, and the university’s own Marylebone Hall will remain closed throughout 2026–27. Students cannot rely on the former hall directly above the campus this year.

For student accommodation near University of Westminster Marylebone, widen the map to Baker Street, King’s Cross, Wembley Park and parts of west London before paying for a private studio within walking distance.

A direct Underground journey often costs less over the year than the premium attached to a room in Marylebone itself.

Fitzrovia and Great Portland Street

Fitzrovia occupies the space between Regent Street, Cavendish and Euston Road.

New Cavendish Street students gain the most from this area. Regent Campus also remains within walking distance, and Marylebone does not require a train.

The neighbourhood contains cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and busy office streets. Rent usually reflects the Zone 1 address, so private rooms remain limited at lower price points.

A house or flat here deserves a careful street-level check. Tottenham Court Road and Euston Road create very different noise levels from the smaller streets around Fitzroy Square.

Regent Street and Oxford Circus

Regent Street gives humanities and social-science students the shortest academic route.

The main building occupies 309 Regent Street, with Little Titchfield Street only three minutes away. Oxford Circus brings Central, Victoria and Bakerloo line connections within a few minutes of the university.

Student accommodation near University of Westminster Regent Campus rarely comes cheaply at walking distance. Soho, Fitzrovia, Marylebone and Covent Garden all carry some of central London’s highest rents.

The transport network gives a better alternative. Victoria line access makes Tottenham Hale practical. The Bakerloo line brings Waterloo into consideration. Jubilee and Metropolitan connections make Wembley useful when a longer journey lowers the rent enough.

King’s Cross

King’s Cross creates a useful middle ground between a central address and a direct commute.

Victoria line services reach Oxford Circus quickly. Euston and Bloomsbury remain close, while King’s Cross St Pancras gives national rail and Eurostar access.

Chapter King’s Cross currently advertises rooms from about £372 per week. Twin studios begin around £374, while en-suite and private studio categories cost considerably more. Bills form part of the advertised rent.

The building costs more than university halls, though its location can work well for Regent, Marylebone and Cavendish students who want strong transport without living in the West End.

Hoxton and Old Street

Alexander Fleming Hall gives this part of East London a major price advantage.

The university charges £197.96 per week for its ground-floor budget room and £219.94 for a standard single in 2026–27. Residents share bathrooms and kitchens within flats of four, six or eight bedrooms.

The 38-week contract keeps the full payment lower than many private buildings. A budget room costs £7,522.48 for the academic year.

Chapter Old Street currently begins at £314 per week for a twin studio under 44- or 51-week contracts. Private rooms rise beyond £450 per week.

A private building may add a gym, cinema room or larger social space, but Alexander Fleming keeps far more money in the annual budget.

Waterloo and South Bank

Waterloo works particularly well for Regent Street because the Bakerloo line reaches Oxford Circus without an interchange.

The South Bank also brings theatres, galleries, restaurants and Waterloo station nearby. Marylebone students can stay on the Bakerloo line to Baker Street.

Private student accommodation varies greatly here. Studios in premium buildings can exceed £500 per week, so the short Tube journey does not automatically mean good value.

Waterloo becomes more attractive when a student finds a shared room or private flat that undercuts Zone 1 north-of-river prices.

Tottenham Hale

North Lodge gives central-campus students a Westminster-arranged option outside central London.

The residence stands around five minutes from Tottenham Hale station. Victoria line trains connect the area with Oxford Circus in roughly 15 minutes, making the morning journey much simpler than its postcode might suggest.

Every North Lodge bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. Residents share the kitchen and lounge with their flatmates.

The 2026–27 rent costs £300.38 per week under a 42.43-week agreement, giving a total of £12,745.12. Utilities, broadband and contents insurance come within that payment.

North Lodge costs more than Alexander Fleming or Harrow Hall, but it combines an en-suite room with a direct Victoria line journey.

Wembley Park

Wembley creates an important housing corridor for both central and Harrow students.

Olympic Way stands five minutes from Wembley Park station. The university charges £275.75 per week for its basic en-suite under a 42-week undergraduate contract, giving a total of £11,581.50. Postgraduate accommodation uses a longer contract.

The building includes study areas, games facilities, a gym, terraces and shared kitchens. Westminster warns that external façade work will continue during 2026–27 between 8 am and 6 pm from Monday to Friday. Scaffolding and low-level construction noise will affect the property.

Wembley Park particularly suits students who divide their time between Harrow and central London because the Metropolitan line serves both directions.

Harrow and Northwick Park

Harrow Campus has the simplest accommodation decision of all four Westminster locations: students can live directly beside their teaching buildings.

Harrow Hall occupies the campus grounds beside Northwick Park station. Standard en-suite rooms cost £216.37 per week for 38 weeks, giving a contract total of £8,222.06. Large en-suites cost £223.16, extra-large rooms £239.26 and double studios £275.87.

For student accommodation near University of Westminster Harrow campus, this on-campus option deserves the first comparison. It removes the Tube from ordinary teaching days and costs less than many managed private buildings elsewhere in London.

Residents share kitchens, while every standard bedroom includes a private shower, toilet and basin. Bills, Wi-Fi and basic contents insurance come within the fee.

Wembley for Harrow Students

Grand Felda House currently starts at £246 per week for a bedroom in a two- or three-bedroom apartment. En-suite rooms begin at £280, while studios start above £300. The property lies close to Wembley Park station.

The Metropolitan line connects Wembley Park with Northwick Park in one stop, which makes the residence far more practical for Harrow students than its distance from Regent Street suggests.

A 51-week £246 room costs £12,546. Harrow Hall costs £8,222.06 for its standard 38-week en-suite. The private option therefore adds more than £4,300 before optional spending, although it also gives residents another 13 weeks in London.

Kensal Road and Portobello

Portobello Garrow House currently begins at £263 per week for the available twin studio category. Private studios begin much higher, with a Bronze studio listed from £279 and larger categories beyond £300.

The property lies near Ladbroke Grove and Kensal Green transport connections.

It can work for Harrow and central-campus students who want west London without moving as far out as Northwick Park. The exact journey changes according to the line and campus, so compare the morning route before signing.

Regent Campus Accommodation

The university’s central housing options currently require a commute because Marylebone Hall has closed for refurbishment.

Students considering University of Westminster Regent Campus student accommodation can compare Alexander Fleming, North Lodge and Olympic Way first.

Westminster itself lists Alexander Fleming, Marylebone Hall and Olympic Way on its Regent accommodation guidance, but Marylebone remains unavailable for 2026–27.

Alexander Fleming therefore gives Regent students the lowest university-managed entry rate.

Marylebone Campus Accommodation

The closure of Marylebone Hall changes the 2026–27 picture considerably.

Previously, residents could live directly above the teaching campus at 35 Marylebone Road. The university closed the hall for refurbishment from 7 June 2025 and confirms that students cannot book it for 2026–27.

Current student accommodation near University of Westminster Marylebone campus should therefore include:

  • Olympic Way for a Metropolitan line journey to Baker Street
  • Harrow Hall for a longer but lower-priced Metropolitan line commute
  • Alexander Fleming for a central-east London option
  • North Lodge for Victoria line access followed by a short onward journey
  • Private rooms around King’s Cross, Paddington, Kilburn and west London

Marylebone students do not need to live in NW1 to keep the commute practical. Baker Street serves five Underground lines, which opens far more of London to a realistic weekday journey.

University of Westminster Marylebone campus student accommodation should still favour direct routes over raw distance. A room five miles away on one Underground line may create a calmer morning than a closer property requiring two changes.

Harrow Campus Accommodation

Harrow serves many creative disciplines, so students often spend long days using studios, editing facilities and specialist equipment. A short home journey can matter more here than it does for a timetable built around a few weekly seminars.

The clearest University of Westminster Harrow campus student accommodation options include Harrow Hall, Wembley Park and other homes along the Metropolitan line.

Harrow Hall gives the campus an immediate route. Wembley adds supermarkets, restaurants and a larger private accommodation market one station away. Areas farther towards central London increase the commute without helping the academic day.

A Regent Street student can tolerate a 30-minute journey because central London brings many other activities into the week. Harrow students gain more from keeping Northwick Park nearby.

These are published 2026–27 Westminster rates. Marylebone Hall has no current student rate because refurbishment keeps it closed for the entire academic year.

The difference between £197.96 and £300.38 looks significant at the weekly level, but contract length increases it further. Alexander Fleming’s budget room costs about £5,223 less over its complete agreement than North Lodge.

The comparison is not identical, however. Alexander Fleming uses shared bathrooms, while North Lodge gives each resident an en-suite.

Private Bedroom with a Shared Bathroom

Alexander Fleming Hall uses this format for most rooms.

A resident has a private furnished bedroom and shares bathrooms and the kitchen with the rest of the flat. Four-, six- and eight-bedroom units contain two or three bathrooms according to household size.

The lower rent makes this category valuable in London, where a private en-suite commonly adds several thousand pounds over the academic year.

En-suite Room

Harrow Hall, Olympic Way and North Lodge all provide private bathrooms.

Residents keep the bedroom and shower to themselves while sharing a kitchen. Harrow standard rooms cost £216.37 per week, which makes them one of Westminster’s lower-priced ways to secure an en-suite.

Olympic Way flats contain seven to ten bedrooms, so check kitchen size and refrigerator storage as carefully as the bedroom.

Studio

A studio combines sleeping, study and cooking facilities inside one self-contained unit with a private bathroom.

Harrow Hall has limited studio categories. Private properties around Wembley, King’s Cross, Clerkenwell and Covent Garden add many more.

Studios increase privacy and rent at the same time. Grosvenor House currently lists studios from £689 per week, although the property is fully booked at present.

A studio at that price reaches more than £35,000 over 51 weeks. Compare the privacy benefit with the amount saved by an en-suite cluster flat.

Twin Room or Twin Studio

Two students share one bedroom or studio.

This format reduces the payment at some private residences. Chapter King’s Cross lists twin studios from around £374, while Portobello Garrow House has twin-studio categories from the mid-£200s.

Sharing the sleeping space requires agreement over alarms, calls, guests, study hours and lighting. The lower rent only helps when both residents feel comfortable with that arrangement.

Private Room in a Shared House

Zones 2, 3 and 4 contain a large private rental market.

Westminster estimates that a room in a shared house in Zones 2 or 3 commonly costs £150 to £200 per week before bills. Private tenants usually need one month’s rent upfront and a damage deposit. The university recommends keeping around £1,600 available for initial housing costs.

A house share may reduce rent considerably when compared with a managed hall. Tenants need to arrange utilities, repairs and household responsibilities themselves.

London rarely gives Westminster students genuinely low housing costs, so contract length matters as much as the weekly figure.

Alexander Fleming creates the lowest published Westminster Hall total. Harrow Hall costs more weekly but includes a private bathroom.

Grand Felda House looks closer to Harrow Hall at the weekly level than the annual totals suggest. Its £246 rate over 51 weeks reaches £12,546, about £4,324 above the Harrow standard contract.

That extra cost buys another 13 weeks of occupation, which can help a postgraduate or someone staying in London for summer work. An undergraduate leaving in June may not need them.

Private Renting in London

Westminster’s accommodation team helps students who cannot secure halls or prefer a private tenancy.

The university advises students to consider the location, total rent, bills, deposit and household arrangement before signing. Full-time students who live only with other full-time students normally qualify for council-tax exemption.

Check these details before paying:

  • Exact landlord or provider
  • Complete address
  • Contract start and finish dates
  • Total rent
  • Deposit amount and protection
  • Guarantor requirement
  • Gas and electricity responsibility
  • Water and internet charges
  • Council-tax position
  • Bedroom lock
  • Heating controls
  • Damp or mould
  • Bathroom ventilation
  • Kitchen storage
  • Repair process
  • Joint liability
  • Cancellation conditions

London listings move quickly, but speed should not replace a contract check. A room that disappears tomorrow can still cost less than resolving a poor tenancy for an entire year.

Oxford Circus gives Regent students Central, Victoria and Bakerloo line access.

Useful journeys include:

  • Tottenham Hale to Oxford Circus on the Victoria line
  • Waterloo to Oxford Circus on the Bakerloo line
  • King’s Cross St Pancras to Oxford Circus on the Victoria line
  • Wembley Park to central London through the Jubilee or Metropolitan network

The Regent building lies three minutes from Little Titchfield Street, eight minutes from Cavendish and around 18 minutes from Marylebone on foot.

Transport to Marylebone Campus

Baker Street forms the main transport point.

The station serves five Underground lines, which gives student accommodation near University of Westminster Marylebone Campus a much larger practical radius than the immediate NW1 streets. Wembley Park has a direct Metropolitan line connection, while Waterloo connects through the Bakerloo line.

London Marylebone railway station also lies nearby for students who travel towards north-west London and the Midlands.

Transport to Harrow Campus

Northwick Park station stands at the campus entrance.

The Metropolitan line connects Harrow directly with Wembley Park and Baker Street. Westminster describes the journey from Harrow towards central London as around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the destination.

For student accommodation near the University of Westminster Harrow campus, staying on this Underground corridor generally matters more than living close to central London.

One-stop travel from Wembley Park makes Grand Felda House and other Wembley residences particularly relevant.
