Dinwiddy House, london

Dinwiddy!!! Lots of experiences here. From the fire alarms going off accidentally at random times at least twice a week, my wet room shower head malfunctioning and flooding my wet room, the endless accidental lockouts when I forgot to bring my room key with me to the hallway, all the way to the front desk staff walking to the outdoor common area and reprimanding students for smoking. Regardless of all these things, my room was a wonderful sanctuary during my time abroad in London studying @ SOAS. Quick 30 minute walk to campus, less than 10 minute walk to Kings Cross, nearby to corner stores, fast food, grocery stores, and entertainment, and the security was always amazing. Front desk staff could be nippy but the overnight security always came in so clutch and were polite, respectful, and fun! The colosseum type outdoor section with the shed and tiered seats gave way to wonderful student connection with folk you may have never seen before. Even though it was awkward sometimes to walk through the entire open section to building C, it was a great way to randomly run into friends. The cats are cute and even followed me into the buildings some times. Move in was stressful and packed but move in always is. Each room in my building had a huge bulletin board which made decorating so much easier! I also loved the mirror in the elevator in Building C and utilized her often lol. Not a bad choice for the price and convenience factor. Id recommend!

Good atmosphere. Kind receptions. Sometimes they have unexpected enjoyable events - photo contests, halloween present. I couldn't see any error using electricity, washer, heater, and water. It could be compact, but very good for students since it's compact. The cleaning staff and security do their jobs and are always kind. All you need to do is maintain your place and manage your stuff in a shared kitchen. You don't have to be anxious that you cannot get parcel and post because they get all stuff at once instead of you, double check and notice via email. Most of all, it's one of the cheapest in London. You cannot find this one. And yard is lovely, too.

Terrible hall administration with rats and lousy parties. The white woman that did my check-in there was pretty unhelpful but the south asian guy is pretty warm. The only thing I found memorable was the two resident cats that love visiting my coffin prison cell like room. The laundry room is awful and always full. Recommend living in an Airbnb or your home rather than suffering the high cost of living of zone 1 and shitty living quarters here😭

Loved this accommodation it's affordable, convenient transport links and friendly staff/ student environment. The room size is decent for the price with a private bathroom, especially for central London. The staff are so lovely and understanding when it comes to financing. They seem to care about the students living here. Dinwiddy House even has house cats for everyone to enjoy, and trust me, they're so adorable. I'm planning to enrol back into the accommodation for my second time! I don't normally write out reviews so I'm not lying about this I highly recommend it.

If it’s your first year, do NOT live here. Yeah it’s cheaper than other accommodations, but that’s the trap. Horrible water maintenance, horrible alarms ringing at least 7 times a week at random, basically zero security the guard is asleep anyway, and rooms… UGH. And don’t even get me started on how they protect actual harassers. AVOID TS BRO
