DO NOT STAY HERE if you value your money and your wellbeing. Living here this year has been AWFUL and the list of problems is practically endless. The big ones are that the place is unhygienic, unsafe and unusable. UNHYGIENIC: There are silverfish infestations in most of the buildings, of which myself and multiple of my friends have alerted reception about just to be dismissed and told that they are not harmful to people and that they are attracted to damp as though it is my fault that they are there, not that the ensuites are poorly made and do not have working extractor fans. I even have a dehumidifier of my own to try and solve the problem, sprays and have splatted countless on the floor all to no avail. All year they have been a consistent torment and for the amount of money I pay for what should be a 'luxury' accommodation why there has been no pest control come in I will never understand. When moving out I was met with multiple of them invading my belongings, damaging them and meaning they have had to be discarded as to not bring them back to my parents house. The entire situation has been incredibly stressful and upsetting, my room has been uninhabitable and I have had no option but to stay elsewhere with friends on armchairs and sofas. The place is also consistently covered in litter and has a bad smell. The only time the sides of the building have been clean is when I went and litter picked it myself! I also had the nice surprise of being made to clean the kitchen by security despite having not been in the flat for over a month because other flat mates had moved out and left the place in a scene suited for a horror movie: flies, maggots and mould jelly. Making those not responsible clean it I think is unfair and unjustified. UNSAFE: The front door was broken and meant that I could not access the building easily for a long time. When I would come back from studying I would be left standing outside until someone would come and let me in, which as a female coming back late at night alone was uncomfortable and worrying. Furthermore, the door to C Block has been broken for MONTHS and so it can just be yanked open meaning anyone who makes it into the front door can access the block. The fire door to my flat also would not close properly, leaving it a) completely accessible to anyone and b) unlikely to do anything to protect anyone in a fire. UNUSABLE: The facilities here are a joke, they are always out of order (as my photos below show). I have on multiple occasions not had hot water for prolonged periods, requiring me to go elsewhere for a shower. The gym equipment is always broken, I do not remember the last time I could use both cables of the machine. I have to log in and reconnect to the WiFi every time I re-enter the building!! There is no phone signal basically anywhere in the block that isn't the rooms. The hobs and oven in my flat had no labels so we had to make our own and spent the whole year guessing the oven settings. The washing machines are so overpriced, when they work - there is almost always atleast one of the machines out of order. NOTE: Before the response to this tells me I should have brought things up more and earlier, the need to do this more than had already done by others firstly felt unnecessary because why would such basic standards not be met in the first place and considering the dismissal I had heard others experiencing it did not feel worthwhile and at no point has it been easy to report things anyway with the app that is glitchy and inaccessible.

The staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome and help whereverthey can and the new gym is nice to use and the on site laundrette has been refurbished with new digital machines available 247 and new common areas for them to socialise

Brilliant place to live, gym and washing machines on site, reception and security are all lovely and very helpful whenever a problem arises. Wish I had come to live here sooner. The WiFi is quick and easy to use, amenities including pool table and dartboard are great to have and lots of communal spaces to spend time with guests. Incredible value for money and you can tell that the staff genuinely care about the people living here.

My girlfriend lives here and I'm round often enough to have seen every bit of this firsthand. Silverfish everywhere - shelves, clothes, all over the bathroom, etc etc - caused by structural faults in the ensuites across C block (and probably the rest of the accom). Came back after two months away and she couldn't even sleep in her own room, had to sleep on the floor at someone else's place instead. Had to quarantine belongings in reception, hot wash all clothes and bedding, and spray down bags/boxes with silverfish killer outside before bringing anything in. Reported it and was told they "aren't harmful to humans." Disgusting response. Doesn't matter, they're still legally classed as pests. We're taking this straight to the council's environmental health agency because management have shown, repeatedly, they will not act unless forced to. This is not on the security or reception staff, who are just doing their jobs with what they're given. This is entirely on management, who won't spend a penny on basic maintenance or safety. Reception is fob access, but it's easy to get in without one regardless, so it was never secure. But then the fobs for C block itself stopped working, meaning the block was left permanently unlocked - anyone could walk straight in, no fob needed at all. On top of that, the fire door to the flat didn't shut properly, so it was sitting unlocked too - meaning if there'd been a fire or break-in, the door meant to contain it wasn't doing its job. D block stinks of bin, it's disgusting. Bin juice literally in the hallway carpets. Litter all round the outside of the building. Previous flatmates trashed the kitchen while away - maggots, flies, mould, grime, clutter, the lot - and then those not responsible were made to clean it up themselves, not the entitled, selfish, careless flatmates responsible. Hot water cut out multiple times so no showers, had to go shower at other people's houses. Laundry room out of use for a week too. There's no clear complaints process either. When trying to raise all this at checkout, she was told to just "come in on a weekday afternoon" to speak to management in person - no proper channel, no accountability. To their credit, security let us handwrite a formal incident report on this - my girlfriend filled in two full pages detailing everything. That should have been passed straight up to management. And this isn't new. I've left a complaint on here before laying all of this out in detail - the silverfish, the broken doors, the fire risk, the smell, the laundry, all of it. Management saw it and did nothing. Instead of lecturing residents on how to report issues they already know about, try providing the basic maintenance and security students pay for. The app is broken anyway, and so is the gym equipment. Also they incentivise students to leave positive Google reviews, so take the glowing ones with a huge pinch of salt. £8k a year for this. £8k for silverfish, unlocked doors, a broken fire door, bin juice in the carpets, and management that couldn't care less. The council should shut this place down and knock it down, it's criminal it's allowed to keep operating like this. No idea how it has any good reviews. Calling itself "luxury" is an actual joke. I'd take Old Laf over this in a heartbeat. Avoid this place because your life depends on it. EDIT: Management's reply is false. Reported repeatedly, by multiple residents - not "unreported." C block door is external, still broken months on, and is urgent. Internal doors don't close properly either. Silverfish infestation is well known and reported to reception, zero pest control ever arranged. Only true bit: bins collected weekly - by the council, not you. D block is still a literal dump with residents living in it right now. And "no pressure to leave positive reviews"? Odd how they spiked in Jan/Feb, exactly when Tony's chocolate, vouchers and raffles were on offer for leaving one.
