Grand Central Liverpool Student Accommodation

Living in central Liverpool can make a noticeable difference to your university routine. With major campuses, railway stations, shops and places to eat all close by, there is less need to plan your day around long journeys. Grand Central sits on Skelhorne Street, putting much of the city within easy reach.

The accommodation has several room types, from non-en-suite and en-suite rooms to self-contained studios. This gives students a choice based on how much privacy they want and how much they are looking to spend each week.

Electricity, water, heating and Wi-Fi are included in the rent, while study areas, shared spaces, laundry facilities and secure entry cover some of the practical requirements of student living.

Grand Central Address & Location

Address: Skelhorne Street, Liverpool L3 5GA, United Kingdom

Grand Central Accommodation is located close to Liverpool city centre and several of the city's major university campuses. Its position on Skelhorne Street also puts Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station within a short walk, which is useful for both university travel and journeys outside the city.

Liverpool Central Railway Station is nearby as well, while Skelhorne Street Bus Stops and Liverpool Bus Station provide further local transport options.

Shopping made simple. The apartment is close to Aldi on Skelhorne Street, with Tesco Express, Boots, Superdrug and other shops nearby for food and domestic supplies.

There are also lots of venues for students to eat and meet friends around the city center. You’ve got KFC and the St John’s Center Food Court for quick eats, but Liverpool ONE and Bold Street feature a greater variety of restaurants. Costa Coffee, Caffè Nero, Starbucks and Bold Street Coffee are also within walking distance for coffee, study sessions or a break in between courses.

If you need a break from the city streets, St John's Gardens is a peaceful green place nearby. Another popular area to go for a stroll is the Royal Albert Dock Waterfront, with the city center around it offering lots of nightlife and entertainment for students.

Why Choose Grand Central Liverpool?

Students tend to have different priorities when comparing accommodation. Some focus on price, others want their own bathroom or kitchen, and some simply want to be close enough to university that commuting does not become part of their daily schedule.

Grand Central offers several features that may make it worth considering:

  • Central Liverpool location close to major universities.

  • Choice of non-en-suite, en-suite and studio accommodation.

  • Electricity, water, heating and Wi-Fi included in the rent.

  • Furnished rooms across the available accommodation types.

  • Study areas for coursework and revision.

  • Common room and shared social areas.

  • Secure door entry and CCTV.

  • On-site management.

  • Laundry facilities and bike storage.

  • Accessible room options and lift access.

  • Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station within walking distance.

  • Shops, cafés, restaurants and entertainment venues close to the property.

The location is particularly useful for students who want to spend less time travelling. Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool are both within a short distance, while the city's public transport network provides access to other campuses.

Is Grand Central Liverpool Right for You?

Grand Central could be a good choice for students who like to live closer to the center of Liverpool, rather than further away from the city center. Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central are nearby, with a few university campuses within easy reach without the hour-long journey every day.

And the assortment of rooms allows students more choices in how they wish to live. Rooms with en-suites are more expensive but allow occupants the luxury of their own bathroom, whereas rooms without an en-suite are cheaper. Studios offer more privacy.

Another thing to consider is the cost. Electricity, water, heating and Wi-Fi are included in the rent, so students will have fewer domestic bills to sort out separately. Other practical advantages of living away from home are furnished rooms, laundry facilities, bike storage and on-site administration.

Students who spend a lot of time studying can use the dedicated study areas, while the common room and shared lounge spaces give residents somewhere to take a break or meet other people. The central location also means that supermarkets, cafés, shopping areas, green spaces and healthcare services are all close by.

If you're comparing Grand Central Accommodation with other student properties in Liverpool, the main things to weigh up are the central location, room type, weekly rent and how much of your daily routine you want to manage on foot.

Conclusion

Grand Central Student Accommodation in Liverpool gives students several room choices in a central Liverpool location. From non-en-suite and en-suite rooms to private studios, the property caters to different budgets and preferences, while inclusive electricity, water, heating and Wi-Fi keep regular accommodation costs easier to manage.

The location is another major consideration. Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool are both nearby, while Lime Street and Liverpool Central railway stations make travel around the city and beyond straightforward. Shops, cafés, restaurants, shopping centres and green spaces are also close to the property.

For students looking for Grand Central Liverpool accommodation with a central address, practical facilities and easy access to university, the property is worth considering as part of the wider Liverpool accommodation search.

I’ve lived at Grand Central in Liverpool for three years now, and overall I’ve had a really positive experience. I originally chose it because of the location. It’s right next to Lime Street, which makes going home for weekends really easy, and it’s within walking distance of LJMU. You’re also close to everything you need, with shops like Tesco, Lidl and Aldi nearby, which makes day today life a lot easier. One of the things that made me feel comfortable moving in was the security. It’s a gated accommodation, and over the years they’ve added turnstiles, which gives it that extra bit of reassurance. They can be a little inconvenient at times, but if you need access-you can just ask and the staff are always happy to help. The apartment itself has been great for me. I’m in a studio and there’s a good amount of space. The bathroom is a good size, the shower is spacious, and the bed is honestly one of the best parts- it feels like a proper large double and the mattress has held up really well over the three years I’ve lived here. The vinyl flooring also makes cleaning much easier. There are some things that could be improved, like having slightly bigger wardrobes or a better freezer, but overall it’s a comfortable place to live. The maintenance team have always been really quick to respond. There’s an app where you can report issues, and most of the time someone is there within half an hour. I think that’s one of the biggest things with accommodation like this- you do have to report things when they happen. If your toilet breaks or something stops working, you can’t just leave it and expect it to fix itself. The process is really simple, and the staff are always willing to help. The staff have genuinely been one of the best parts of living here. They’re welcoming, supportive and always there when you need them. Over the years Ihave gotten to know members of the reception and maintenance teams, and they’ve always made Grand Central feel like more than just a building. They’ve been kind and understanding, especially during stressful times, and that’s something I really appreciate. I’d honestly give Grand Central a 10/10. Of course, no accommodation is perfect and there are always little things that could be improved, but for me the positives massively outweigh the negatives. If you look after your space, communicate when something needs fixing, and make use of the support that’s there, it’s a really good place to live. LJMU GRAD '26

I recently moved out of from here, and overall, it was a really good place to stay. The old reception team was super helpful, and although I didn’t have much time to get to know the new staff, things were handled well. During my stay, the lift in Block C was being replaced, which took a few months, but since then it’s been working fine. They even gave us a gift voucher for the inconvenience, which was a nice gesture. I stayed in a Premium Ensuite on the 10th floor, and I really liked it, it’s more spacious than the standard rooms, very clean, and well maintained, so it never felt cramped. The location is also a big plus, just a short walk to Lime Street Station, which was perfect as I used the train almost every day. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for both convenience and comfort..

Grand Central has been a good place to stay especially as a first year student, being so close to the city centre and learning how to basically live on your own. I think the room has been really nice and basically my safe space, never worried about my safety here. My only concern with the accommodation is how often there is a maintenance issue around my flat as I have had to submit around 10-15 requests already, the only good side to this is that the response time is quite speedy and unless the problem is beyond the maintenance teams abilities it is normally fixed within two days.

Nice rooms with a private bathroom, friendly reception staff, and a great location in the city centre. I’m taking one star off only because of cleanliness – when I moved in, I found the room genuinely dirty (both the room itself and the kitchen). I reported it to reception, and they immediately gave me another room. I was in contact with reception several times whenever I needed help with something. I was always met with a very pleasant attitude and a friendly atmosphere. Their approach impressed me the most about this accommodation – they were always extremely helpful and incredibly kind. I’m from Slovakia, and back home reception desks are often staffed with the most cold and arrogant people. Overall, I feel that the reception team at Grand Central made a very positive impression of Unite Students in my eyes, and even of English people in general. 👍🏻

Always smells. Staff not really bothered about anything. Send you on goose chases for your packages you get delivered claiming they never received them (they do have them they just cba looking). Lifts always broke, if ur on the 5+ floor in the heat with no air conditioning it gets so hot. You can get so much better for the amount you pay. I stayed at Atlantic point in my first year and that was way better value. Overall if you’re looking for an overpriced grungy first year uni flat, it’s good. Location is close to Clubs etc.
