About this property
Liverpool has a way of making student life feel exciting from the very beginning. There's always somewhere to explore, something happening in the city, and another café, restaurant, or music venue waiting to be discovered. Living close to all of that makes a real difference, and One Islington Plaza Liverpool puts you right where university life and city life come together.
Whether you're moving away from home for the first time or returning for another academic year, One Islington Plaza offers accommodation that fits different lifestyles. You can choose a private studio if you value your own space or an en-suite room if you'd rather share a flat and get to know other students. Add modern facilities, all-inclusive bills and a location within easy reach of Liverpool's leading universities, and it's easy to see why so many students shortlist this residence.
University accommodation becomes more than just somewhere to sleep after the first few weeks. It turns into the place where assignments get finished, friendships begin and everyday routines take shape. One Islington Plaza has been designed around that idea, creating an environment where students can live comfortably while making the most of everything Liverpool has to offer.
The accommodation provides a selection of en-suite rooms within shared apartments alongside fully self-contained studios. Students who enjoy a sociable atmosphere often choose shared flats, where kitchens naturally become places to cook together, chat after lectures and unwind in the evenings. Those who prefer greater independence can opt for a studio with their own kitchen and living space while still enjoying access to the building's communal facilities.
Beyond the rooms themselves, residents have access to social spaces that encourage interaction throughout the year. Whether it's relaxing in the cinema room, attending one of the property's organised social events or fitting in a workout before lectures, there are plenty of opportunities to balance academic responsibilities with student life.
Its central location also means you won't spend your university years constantly travelling across Liverpool. Campuses, supermarkets, shopping destinations and transport links are all close enough to become part of your daily routine.
Choosing accommodation close to both university and the city centre often makes everyday life much more straightforward. Shorter journeys leave more time for studying, meeting friends or simply enjoying Liverpool itself.

Sam and Nadine put on such a lovely Harry Potter movie night for everyone at the accommodation. The themed food was amazing and there was so much attention to detail in the setup, from the cute little pencils and glasses to the whole atmosphere of the night. You could tell a lot of effort went into making it special. Such a fun and thoughtful event, thank you both for creating such a lovely experience!

Lived at this accommodation for 2.5 years. Staff Generally staff are kind and genuinely seem to want to make the building the best it can be, a shame that the end product is below mediocre. The security staff have some members who have the memories of goldfish and less than desirable approaches to customer service, one occasion being when I was returning from work one night and got detained in the common room because I forgot my keys despite me making daily contact with the security staff and having spoken to them several times. Maintenance staff are lovely and a credit to the building. Amenities The gym has been in varying states the past 3 years and while it generally has all the basics one needs to have a positive gym experience it lacks some features that would allow it to actually compete with other accommodations in the area, this can be accepted but what I don't find reasonable is the perpetual state of key equipment being out of order (the only bench has been broken for months now, the one and only cable machine was missing one of its cables for months a year or so ago as well, the boxing bag has been laying on the floor longer than it was hanging from the wall and several treadmills have been either completely non functioning or very finicky. The kitchen is generally one of the better parts of the building but could do with more consistent cleaning. The cinema room is sensational when it actually works with amazing sound and video quality. Heavy emphasis on the WHEN, several times I have made plans only to go into the room hours before to make sure its ready, only to find it in states of disarray or to find that the sound system is broken and requires maintenance. The ping pong and pool tables are fine nothing to note there. Other Students With great respect, you would think half the people who live in this building are experiencing their first weeks on Earth. My dog takes more care burying his own excrement then some of these people do in looking after common spaces or just generally being considerate of others. With common areas left dirty or unorganized. A particular area of note is the bin storage. A blind, drunk paraplegic would be more capable of putting their rubbish in the bins than some of these adult children. With the result being an area infested with rats, mice, maggots and god knows what else and an odor that can LITERALLY be smelt when outside the building or near the doorway to the bin area. General Issues Throughout my time in this accommodation I and all other students have experienced issues who's continuous impact and lack of resolution mean I cannot in good faith recommend this place. Firstly one of the elevators has been out of order longer than its been functioning, and there has been several periods where both have been out of order simultaneously meaning every student had to climb all the way up and down the stairs everyday for weeks, a big issue when you live 9 floors up. The Wi-FI has also been out of order for nearly two weeks before, the last thing you want when you have assignments or exams due. I was also promised cashback as a rebooker, after 3-4 months of following up and requesting information I STILL have not received a penny. While I appreciate that a lot of these issues are hard to resolve and its not 100% up to the actual building staff I cannot recommend an accommodation that has repeatedly shown a pattern of inadequacy, an incapacity to resolve vital issues and a failure to deliver on promises. Positives You can tell the staff cares they are really sweet and not all of these issues are in their control, if this was a review on them than it would get 5 stars from me. There is a variety of events occurring year round that provide opportunities to meet new people or partake in fun activities. There are also freebies that are given occasionally that are of good quality. Studios are good quality with a good amount of desk, cooking and storage space and access to ethernet. Room maintenance happens pretty quickly even up to same day depending on the issue

Excellent student Studio Had a really nice time and enjoyed my stay, The staff were super friendly and helpful, specially "I" and "C", They were super nice and helped me sorting out anything regarding my stay, and made extending my stay easier and cheaper. " thank you guys". I had booked the studio ( best value for money you could find in Liverpool, in that area), the studio was super excellent, had small kitchen which had everything you need to be independent, utensils, pots and an oven dish, the microwave had integrated oven as well with ceramic hob on top, I saved money by cooking myself, and don't worry there is a powerful extraction fan which left the room without the cooking smell in no time. The desk had a big surface for my many notes and books, 3 big drawers, Book shelves on top of the desk. The bed was comfy, The wardrobe was big. The studio had a small table as well with two chairs. The toilet was clean, small mirror on top of the hand basin, nice shower with warm water any time and very efficient towel rail, you couldn't ask for anything else. The location was perfect and quite, and couple of minutes from anywhere, 2 minutes walk from the Hospital, 3 minutes walk from Lidl and 10 -15 minutes' walk from the train station or the city center. The building had a really nice common place, with tennis and pool tables, and couple of comfy sofas. I wished there was a desk lamp, as the desk position in the room was in a poor lighting spot for studying. One of the reasons i loved my Studio it had 2 windows, but that side small window could do with a little curtain. Would definitely recommend it, and save money on the fast food and book the studio and cook your own meals. Thank you everyone for ensuring we had an excellent and comfortable stay during those hard times of Covid and our preparations for exams.

Absolutely brilliant. The decoration was incredible, snacks and treats were overwhelming. Big thank you to both beautiful managers for making me actually enjoy a home alone movie 🤣 ❤️

If you want to live with 5 jerrys and 2 toms this is the place to go to! EDIT: Also if you like a swimming pool in your kitchen, no WiFi resulting to using starlink and a lovely gym which has a lot of hazards then this is certainly the place to go to! EDIT #2: As I cannot reply to the thread, I just wanted to clarify some things. The flooding happened earlier this year, same with WiFi problems during peak exam season (see other 1-star reviews). Gym has been 'serviced' yet poses significant health risks, the racking area has sharp edges which can easily cut your hand if not careful, the new bench equipment bought in wobbles when lifting and even goes backwards when doing a push exercise - this is probably because it has been bought at a cheap rate from alibaba which probably doesn't even meet the british manufacturing standards (ISO 20957 / EN957), the cables are still rusty, maximum of 20kg dumbbells, no bench press, no squatting rack, only one push machine (upper-chest). If the bin storage is monitored closely, there shouldn't be overflowing bins and good old tom and jerry lurking around forcing people to dash and run to lower the risk of catching an infection. The main reason of this review is to let other students know your rent money is probably best spent elsewhere.
