About this property
Egham is small enough to understand within a week, which helps when university already brings enough new things to figure out. The High Street has the basics. Royal Holloway is up the road. The station is nearby for London, Heathrow and weekend travel.
Straits Garden Egham fits into that kind of routine. It is not a huge shared-flat setup where five people are trying to cook in the same kitchen at once. The rooms are mainly studios and apartments, so the kitchen, bathroom and study corner stay private.
That matters more than it sounds. After lectures, library hours or a long shift at work, it helps to come back to a room that runs on your schedule. Straits Garden Egham student accommodation gives you that independence while still keeping shared spaces in the building for study, films, games and the gym.
The main thing to know about Straits Garden accommodation is simple: it gives you your own space.
You cook in your room. You use your own bathroom. You study at your own desk. There is no shared fridge, no waiting around for the hob, and no awkward flat argument about cleaning the sink.
That does not mean the building feels cut off. There are study rooms when your own desk starts to feel too familiar. The lounge, cinema room, communal kitchen, table football and snooker area give you places to use outside your room. The gym is useful too, especially on days when travelling somewhere else feels like too much effort.
It is a better match for someone who wants privacy but still wants people around the building.
The Straits Garden Egham address is: High Street, Egham, TW20 9DP, United Kingdom
This part of Egham is practical. Waitrose and Tesco are close, along with cafés, takeaways, restaurants and the usual town-centre shops. Egham Railway Station is about a 4-minute walk away, which makes London trips much easier than they would be from a quieter residential area.
Royal Holloway, University of London, is around 15 minutes away on foot. A bike cuts that down further. Heathrow is also close enough for airport runs, which helps international students and anyone travelling during breaks.
Straits Garden accommodation has several studio types, plus penthouse and one-bedroom apartment options. The smaller studios work well if you want privacy at a lower weekly rent. The higher-priced rooms give you more floor space and a clearer split between study, sleep and downtime.

The studio options keep everything in one room. The one-bedroom apartment gives a clearer divide between sleeping and daily use, which can help if you spend a lot of time studying at home.
Rent at Straits Garden Egham covers the main bills, so there is less to sort after arrival.
Included in the rent:
The room already has the larger pieces in place, so you are not trying to arrange a bed, desk or storage before term starts.
The facilities here feel useful because they solve normal student problems. A quiet room for deadlines. A gym for quick workouts. A laundry room in the building. A cinema room when everyone wants to stay in.
Every studio and apartment includes a private en-suite bathroom, kitchenette, bed, study desk, chair and storage. The setup keeps the basics inside your own room, which is the main appeal of this property.
The study rooms give you a break from working at the same desk every day. They are handy during exam weeks, dissertation season or group project deadlines.
The lounge works for casual evenings in the building. The communal kitchen helps when you want to cook with other people rather than eat alone in your studio. The cinema room, snooker area and table football give residents a few easy ways to spend time without heading out.
The gym is inside the property, so workouts do not need a separate journey. Laundry is also on site. Secure entry adds reassurance, especially for anyone moving away from home for the first time.

Nice place but the manager, Tracey, is rude and unprofessional, especially to a certain cohort of students. You would think all individuals renting here would be treated the same but that is not the case. I am shocked that this kind of behaviour persists in the modern day.

Strait Garden is a great student hostel to stay in. The room is quite spacious, and I feel safe staying here. One of its greatest strengths is its accessibility—it's located very close to several grocery shops and restaurants, which makes daily errands incredibly convenient. The manager, Tracey, is very supportive, responsive, and helpful in addressing some of the minor issues I faced. She is also very approachable and always greets residents warmly, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Her presence adds a personal touch that makes the hostel feel more like home.

Strongly not recommended, especially for my experience with the staff member Tracey. It is surprising that such bureaucratic practices and a sense of unequal treatment still appear in 21st-century Britain, especially at Straits Garden. I was planning to rent an apartment in London, but Tracey rejected our landlord reference without providing a clear explanation. When we asked for clarification, her response was dismissive. Tracey said, “Can’t understand the complicated English words? Then check it on Google.” If you are comfortable living in accommodation managed in this manner, then that is your choice. However, if you need to move legally and smoothly, Tracey may act in a way that disrupts your plans and causes unnecessary obstacles. I also don’t understand those who give Tracey very positive comments. Perhaps if you maintain a very flattering attitude every day, then of course she will treat you well. Student accommodation should represent fairness, equality, inclusiveness, and respect. However, Straits Garden gave me the opposite feeling — full of bureaucracy, unequal treatment, and exclusion. You might think your neighbours are nice — and I agree, because the rent here is almost twice that of other areas, attracting mostly well-educated student residents. But for the parents paying such high rent, please do not let your children feel pressured or intimidated by management. If your child is naturally gentle or kind, they may feel bullied by certain staff members.

its a great accommodation however it could use improvement in certain areas. overall though it’s a good value for money considering its location.
