Edinburgh quickly teaches you one thing—where you live changes how you spend your day. A shorter walk to class means an extra coffee before a lecture. A supermarket around the corner saves another journey after a long afternoon. That's where Straits Meadow starts to make sense.
Set on London Road, Straits Meadow Edinburgh keeps university buildings, public transport and everyday essentials close enough that most routines stay uncomplicated. The building combines en-suite rooms with private studios, so you can decide how much space you want without moving away from the city.
For students looking at accommodation around the capital, Straits Meadow student accommodation continues to attract attention because it brings together a practical location and facilities that people genuinely use throughout the year.
The first month at university usually settles into a pattern quite quickly. You work out where to buy groceries, which route gets you to lectures fastest and where you'll probably spend your evenings with friends.
Straits Meadow in Edinburgh city centre fits naturally into that routine.
The building includes shared en-suite accommodation alongside self-contained studios. Some residents enjoy sharing a kitchen and getting to know their flatmates. Others prefer closing their own front door at the end of the day and having complete privacy. Both options are available here, which makes the property suitable for different budgets and different ways of living.
Utility bills are already included, internet is ready when you move in, and the shared spaces give you somewhere else to spend time besides your room.
Straits Meadow Edinburgh Address
61–63 London Road, Edinburgh EH7 6AA
London Road keeps you close to the city without placing you in the busiest tourist streets.
A short walk takes you towards Holyrood Park in one direction and Edinburgh's city centre in the other. Bus stops, supermarkets, cafés and local shops are already part of the neighbourhood, so most daily errands don't require much planning.
Some accommodation looks impressive on move-in day but becomes less practical once lectures begin. Straits Meadow student accommodation focuses on the things you'll actually notice every week.
Around a 10-minute walk to Edinburgh city centre.
Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat are roughly five minutes away on foot.
University of Edinburgh Holyrood Campus is only a short bus ride or cycle away.
Studios include a private kitchen and bathroom for students who want complete independence.
En-suite rooms suit anyone who prefers sharing a kitchen while keeping their own bedroom and bathroom.
Bills, Wi-Fi and utilities are already included in the weekly rent.
Study rooms, cinema lounge, games room and shared lounges stay open throughout the year.
Bike storage, laundry facilities and secure fob entry help with everyday routines.
CCTV, 24-hour security and an on-site management team remain available if support is needed.
No two students look for exactly the same room. Some want the lowest weekly rent. Others care more about extra floor space or having their own kitchen. Straits Meadow student accommodation Edinburgh covers both ends of that scale.

One kitchen is shared with four other flatmates (which is better than most student accommodations afaik). Not super close to the city centre but the bus stop from Princess Street is located just across the building. A swan lake (St. Margaret's Loch) is within 10-minutes walk. Perfect if you love nature and a nice room to stay.

The stay is safe and sound with amazing rooms. The reception is very helpful and great and i highly recommend this place for the international students.

Good afternoon, I read on Booking.com in the answers section that it's possible to rent a room for a few days in August. Is this possible without being a student? Thank you

The location of this dormitory building is truly excellent. It is extremely close to the bus stop, providing great convenience for travel. The space is wide inside and the rooms are very large in area. The windows are not only magnificent but also let in an abundance of light, making the interior bright and transparent. The facilities are complete, and every detail shows thoughtfulness and practicality. There is a very ample study space, and the quiet environment allows people to fully immerse themselves in learning without being disturbed by the outside world at all, creating an ideal living and learning environment.

I stayed at Straits Meadow while studying abroad for a semester the autumn of 2024. There were some major downsides to the place. Firstly, I was informed only two days before my arrival that it was not possible to check in after 5 p.m., which meant I had to book a hotel for one night at short notice and pay over 200 pounds for it, even though I had already paid for the apartment. I received no responses from staff to my phone calls or emails regarding this issue; I was completely ignored. Additionally, the pricing of the rooms was quite sketchy, as all my flatmates paid different prices for identical rooms. I was also told it wasn’t possible to pay for less than 18 weeks, yet another resident paid for only 15 weeks. Furthermore, I received payment notices and emails intended for another person, which gave me the impression that they don’t handle residents' personal information with care. Overall, the facilities were good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and living there was comfortable. I would still think twice before choosing this residence and take care of your rights as a resident.
