Choosing student accommodation in Durham is about more than finding somewhere to sleep between lectures. The distance to university, the cost of living and the facilities available at the property all become part of your routine once the academic year begins.
Elvet Studios Durham offers private studio accommodation on Green Lane, keeping students close to Durham University's City Campus while also placing shops, cafés, transport links and other everyday essentials within easy reach. Each studio gives residents their own private space, while shared areas around the property provide places to study, relax and meet other students.
With utility bills included in the rent and practical facilities available on site, Elvet Studios student accommodation gives students a straightforward base from which to manage university life in Durham.
Living alone does not necessarily mean being disconnected from other students. At Elvet Studios, every resident has a self-contained studio while still having access to shared spaces within the residence.
The private studios give students their own area for sleeping, studying, cooking and relaxing. This can suit students who prefer not to share a bedroom or bathroom and want more control over their daily routine.
There are also dedicated study rooms for those times when you want to work somewhere other than your studio. The common room and outdoor courtyards offer another change of setting, whether you're meeting other residents or taking some time away from coursework.
Practical services are part of the setup too. On-site laundry, maintenance, bike storage, vending machines and recycling facilities are available, while security measures include CCTV, secure door entry, 24-hour security and on-site security staff.
Students searching for Elvet Studios Durham UK will therefore find a residence that combines private living with shared facilities and a location close to the university and Durham city centre.
Elvet Studios, Green Lane, Durham DH1 3UA, United Kingdom

Students looking for a proper meal can also head to places such as Lebaneat, Barrio Comida, Notch Durham and Bistro Italiano.
Staying active does not require a long journey either. Durham University Maiden Castle Sports Complex, Durham City Rugby Football Club, PureGym Durham and Freeman's Quay Leisure Centre all offer ways to exercise during the week.

Electricity
Gas
Heating
Water

Broadband
Content insurance
Having these costs included means students do not need to arrange separate utility payments for the services covered by the accommodation.
It also makes comparing weekly rents easier. Instead of looking only at the advertised room price and then adding utility bills afterwards, students can factor the included services into the overall cost from the start.
The facilities at Elvet Studios cover different parts of the week, from studying and doing laundry to meeting other residents or simply taking a break outside.
Dedicated study rooms are available for residents.
These provide another place to work when you want some separation between your academic routine and your private studio. Students can use the rooms for coursework, revision or independent study.

If you are a student who routinely travels further afield than Durham, as opposed to just using local buses, the station is really beneficial.
The location also works well for students who prefer walking or cycling for shorter journeys. Durham University's City Campus is less than a mile away, while many shops, cafés and central attractions are located around the same part of the city.
Secure bike storage at the property gives residents another practical option for getting around.

Students can also find several outdoor spaces close to the city centre:
River Wear Riverside Walk
Durham Cathedral & Palace Green
Wharton Park
Durham Castle Grounds
Maiden Castle Playing Fields
The River Wear Riverside Walk is useful for a short walk after lectures, while the grounds around Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle offer a chance to spend time outdoors within the historic centre.
For evenings out or casual meet-ups with friends, nearby options include:
Dun Cow Durham
The Half Moon Inn
The Woodman Inn
Zen
Vennels Café
The mix of pubs, cafés and other social venues means students have options for meeting friends without always travelling far from their accommodation.
The type of accommodation you choose can shape how you spend your time outside lectures. Some students prefer having a private studio where they can keep their own routine, while others are more interested in shared accommodation and a larger social setup.
Elvet Studios student accommodation is more suited to students who want their own living space but still want access to communal areas and other residents within the building.
Students Who Prefer Private Accommodation
Every room at Elvet Studios is self-contained, so students do not need to share their main living facilities with flatmates.
This can be useful if you prefer having your own space for studying, cooking and relaxing. It also gives you more control over your routine, particularly during busy periods of the academic year.
Students Looking for Different Studio Sizes
There are several studio categories, ranging from the Medium Standard Double Studio at £235 per week to the XL Superior with View at £370 per week.
This gives students room to compare price and space rather than being limited to one standard room type.
The Premium Range 1, 2, 3 and 4 Studios provide further choices between the standard and larger room categories, while the Large High Double Studio is available with its current price listed on request.
Students Who Want Bills Included
Electricity, gas, heating, water, Wi-Fi, broadband and content insurance are included in the rent.
For students managing their own finances for the first time, this removes several separate payments from the monthly budget. You can work from the advertised weekly rent rather than having to estimate additional utility costs on top.
Students Who Need a Separate Study Space
Having your own studio does not mean you have to study in the same room every day.
The dedicated study rooms at Elvet Studios provide another setting for coursework, revision or independent work. This can be useful when you need a quieter environment or simply want to separate your study routine from your personal space.
Students Who Want Shared Spaces Without Sharing a Room
The common room and outdoor courtyards give residents places to meet other students and spend time outside their studios.
This arrangement gives you the privacy of a self-contained room while still leaving opportunities to socialise within the residence.
Students Who Cycle
Secure bike storage is available on site.
For students who cycle to Durham University or use a bike to get around the city, having a designated storage area means there is no need to keep the bike inside the studio.
Students Who Want Practical Facilities On Site
Elvet Studios also includes several services that deal with everyday tasks.
Residents have access to:
On-site laundry
On-site maintenance
Recycling facilities
Vending machines
24-hour security
CCTV
Secure door entry
These facilities can make a difference during a busy university term, particularly when you need to deal with laundry, maintenance or other routine tasks without leaving the property.
Students Who Want to Stay Close to Durham University
The City Campus is around 0.69 miles away, while Durham University Business School is approximately 1.52 miles from the property.
For students whose regular classes are based around Durham's central university area, the location offers a manageable daily journey. Green Lane Bus Stop is also close by for students who prefer using local buses.
Elvet Studios Durham offers a private studio setup for students who want more independence during university. The choice of room categories gives students different price and space options, while the self-contained layout means there is no need to share the main living facilities with other residents.
The accommodation also covers several practical aspects of student life. Electricity, gas, heating, water, Wi-Fi, broadband and content insurance are included in the rent, while study rooms, laundry facilities, bike storage and on-site maintenance are available within the property.
Its location on Green Lane is another advantage. Durham University's City Campus is less than a mile away, with buses, shops, cafés, sports facilities, libraries and green spaces all within reach. Students can therefore keep much of their regular routine close to the property while still having access to the wider city.
For students who prefer private accommodation but still want shared spaces, on-site support and straightforward access to university, Elvet Studios Durham UK is a practical option to consider for the academic year.

Thank you for being my home for the past year. 🏡 I’ve been truly happy here — the studio is cozy, fully equipped, and very comfortable to rest in. The staff have always been kind and attentive. I really felt well taken care of.
Jay Readman
the maintenance staff are rude knock on door as walking past think its funny and making wierd noises after, i can hear everything my neighbhour is doing and the person upstairs, no parking, no tv like shown in the sale (not big issue) however always people making loud noise on a night no matter how many times is reported someone checks and stops it yet it recurs so whats the point. DO NOT CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD GRADES

1.Only 2 dryers & 2 washing machine for more than 100 residents, & the 2 star rate US app not always working for the laundry here. 2. Rats & spiders are around here, even can be seen just at the door of the building. 3. No safe storage place for bikes, residents need to take response themselves if the bikes are lost, there is a US sign state this in the yard. 4. The shower here is still use shower curtain instread of newly built student accommodation shower door —water does easily spread in the toilet/shower room. 5. TV screen has been removed & left only wholes on the wall. 6. The WiFi is really slow. 7. Why some staff at the reception left earlier than 18:00 even on working days? Wish it can be improved for the new residents.
Lynn Wang
The service of the year 2019-2020 is really bad. The Wi-Fi went off several times and is really slow. And it's highly likely that it's going to go off again. Due to the pandemic there is a shortage of staff but that's understanable. However, unite promised that the reception will remain open from 10 to 6 Mon to Fri and there are still many times a week that we don't have anyone at the desk during these hours. If you say something you'd better stick to it. A notice beforehand would at least make people feel better. The walls are super thin and you can hear everything. The doors are all fire doors which are heavy, if you don't hold it until it closes it will make a loud thumping noise, which is really really annoying especially some people just don't care and they go in and out for several minutes. Every time there are some work that needs to be done in our rooms, they will send out emails about when they need to access the rooms. Yet, 9 out of 10 they don't follow the scheduled time. If they are not sure how many rooms that can be done in a day, can you just keep the residents posted every day so they know when to expect the maintenance team. Just a simple email! Its not that hard!
Samkiti Jain
These people are such crooks. While booking my room (pre covid, I was in my first year) I was told that they organise weekly events for all residents so that we get to know each other, have free tea and a free printing service. When I moved in to place (in my second year) the printer and free tea was gone, no events were organised. All lies. And there is no mobile signal in the place, and the wifi is so sketchy. Now, being an international student it is difficult to keep moving my stuff around so with a heavy heart I decided to stay there for my third year as well. I had booked the same room again so didn’t bother to move my stuff when I came back home for the summer break. When I went back, these people had entered my room and removed the TV. They didn’t even inform me. Each year they reduce the number of services they offer and hike the rent. When I came back in my third year, I was with my mum (it was covid times and we were in a bubble) they treated us like so badly and literally told my mom to leave the place, while we were in the middle of our mandatory 2-week quarantine. My mum had stayed with me previously, then they did not have a problem. I don’t what they wanted, and especially this lady named SUE, was so mean. As a result we had to book a BnB and move out of the place -.- . Very unfriendly staff and unprofessional service. Don’t stay here.
