About this property

Quay Point Studios

Quay Point Studios Newcastle Student Accommodation

Choosing student accommodation becomes easier when the room suits the way you actually want to live. Some students prefer having their own kitchen and bathroom, while others want a little more space for studying, relaxing and settling into a routine. Quay Point Newcastle offers both studios and one-bedroom flats, giving students more independence while keeping Northumbria University, Newcastle city centre and local transport links close by.

Located on Melbourne Street, the property is well placed for students who want to spend less time travelling between home, university and the city. The accommodation comes with furnished rooms, bills included and shared facilities within the building, so most of the practical details are taken care of from the start.

About Quay Point Studios

Quay Point Studios is suited to students who prefer having their own space rather than sharing a kitchen or bathroom with flatmates. Each studio has its own kitchen, bathroom and study area, giving residents more control over their daily routine.

The property also has one-bedroom flats for students who want separate sleeping and living areas. These provide a little more room while keeping the same sense of privacy offered by the studios.

Having your own space does not mean being completely removed from student life. Residents can use the common room, cinema room and other social areas when they want to meet people or take a break from studying. There are also dedicated study rooms for days when working in your own room is not quite enough.

Quay Point Newcastle Address & Location

Address: Quay Point Studios, Melbourne Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 2JB, United Kingdom

Life at Quay Point Studios Newcastle

Living at Quay Point Newcastle means having much of the city within easy reach. Northumbria University's City Campus is around half a mile away, so many students can walk to lectures rather than relying on daily public transport.

Newcastle city centre is also close by. Eldon Square, Eldon Garden Shopping Centre, Central Arcade and The Gate cover shopping, food and entertainment, while Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express are useful for smaller grocery trips.

Students have several options when they want to work somewhere other than their accommodation. The City Campus Library at Northumbria University, Newcastle City Library and the Lit & Phil Library are all within reach.

There are places to spend time outdoors as well. Leazes Park and Exhibition Park offer open space for a walk, a break from coursework or an afternoon away from the city centre.

Why Choose Quay Point Accommodation Newcastle?

The main attraction of Quay Point accommodation Newcastle is the combination of private living and a central location. Students can have their own kitchen and bathroom while still having access to shared spaces within the residence.

  • Around 0.52 miles from Northumbria University's City Campus.

Is Quay Point Newcastle Right for You?

Quay Point Newcastle is a good fit for students who want their own private living space without moving away from the centre of Newcastle. The studios and one-bedroom flats mean you do not have to share a kitchen or bathroom, while the shared facilities give you places to study, exercise or spend time with other residents when you want to.

Students Who Prefer Independent Living

The studio accommodation gives you your own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and study area. That setup suits students who prefer having control over their routine and do not want to share the main parts of their living space with flatmates.

The one-bedroom flats offer another option for students who need more separation between their sleeping and living areas. They are particularly worth considering if you expect to spend a lot of time at home during the academic year.

Students Looking for Different Price Points

The room selection ranges from Medium Standard Double Studios starting at £149 per week to one-bedroom options starting at £269 per week.

This gives students some scope to choose accommodation according to both their budget and the amount of space they want. Smaller studios can keep weekly costs lower, while larger studios and one-bedroom flats offer more room at a higher price.

Students Who Want Bills Included

Electricity, gas, water, high-speed Wi-Fi and contents insurance are included in the weekly rent.

For students working with a fixed monthly budget, having these costs covered can make accommodation expenses easier to track. There is no need to arrange separate accounts for the main utilities after moving in.

Students Studying at Northumbria University

The Northumbria University City Campus is around 0.52 miles from Quay Point.

That distance makes walking a realistic option for many students attending lectures there. Students based at the Coach Lane Campus will have a longer journey, but Newcastle's public transport network provides connections across the city.

Students Who Want Facilities Within the Building

Quay Point Studios has several facilities that students can use without leaving the residence.

The study rooms offer somewhere to work outside the studio, while the common room and cinema room provide spaces for downtime. There is also an on-site gym for residents who want to exercise around their university schedule.

Practical facilities such as laundry, bike storage, recycling and a vending machine cover some of the smaller tasks that come with student living.

Students Who Want Central Newcastle Living

The Quay Point Newcastle address on Melbourne Street places residents close to Northumbria University, Newcastle city centre and several transport connections.

Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express are nearby for groceries, while Eldon Square, Central Arcade and The Gate provide shopping, food and entertainment options. Manors Metro Station, Manors National Rail Station and Newcastle Central Station also make longer journeys easier to manage.

Quay Point Newcastle Reviews

Students checking Quay Point Newcastle reviews will usually want to consider more than the accommodation itself. Location, room layout, facilities, included bills and access to university all have a bearing on whether a property works for a particular student.

Quay Point's main advantage is its combination of private accommodation and central location. Students have their own kitchen and bathroom, while the residence still includes shared spaces such as the common room and cinema room.

The range of room types is another point worth considering. Students can choose between smaller studios, larger studios, premium options and one-bedroom flats, depending on how much space they need and what they are prepared to spend.

Quay Point University Clearing

Students who receive their university place through Clearing should check accommodation availability as soon as their offer is confirmed. Properties close to major university campuses can have fewer rooms available later in the admissions cycle.

Students considering Quay Point accommodation Newcastle through Clearing can compare the available studio and one-bedroom options before deciding. Checking the weekly rent, tenancy length and available room type is particularly important, as prices and availability can change during the year.

For students joining Northumbria University, the property's proximity to the City Campus is another reason to check availability early. The short distance can make a noticeable difference to the daily commute, particularly for students attending lectures throughout the week.

Conclusion

Quay Point Newcastle offers private student accommodation in Newcastle upon tyne for those who want more independence while remaining close to the centre of Newcastle. Studios and one-bedroom flats provide different levels of space, while inclusive bills, study rooms, social areas, an on-site gym and practical facilities cover much of what students need during the academic year.

The Quay Point Newcastle address is another strong point. Northumbria University's City Campus is within walking distance, while shops, restaurants, libraries, green spaces and transport links are all close by.

For students comparing Quay Point accommodation Newcastle, the property is worth considering if private living, predictable accommodation costs and a central Newcastle location are high on the list.

I have been living in this accommodation for around 9 months now, and overall I really like it. The quality is good, the location is convenient, and my experience here has mostly been positive. However, there are still a few things that could be improved 1- like one problem is that the carpet or flooring in the room gets dirty very quickly. 2- when the room next to me closes their door loudly, sometimes the sound is so strong that I think someone closed my own door. 3- the sink water temperature It is either too cold or too hot, and it’s difficult to get a comfortable middle temperature.I sometimes started washing my face in the kitchen sink instead, because there I can actually make the water a medium temperature 4- The wardrobe/storage room is also quite small. 5- The laundry room is outside my building, so I need to leave the building and walk to another room for washing clothes. It is close, but sometimes it rains, sometimes it’s very cold, and honestly it makes me feel lazy to do laundry. Also, the laundry costs money every time, so that makes it even less convenient. I wish the laundry room was inside the building because it would be much easier. On the positive side: 1- the quality of the accommodation is good. 2- The desk is big and very comfortable for studying. 3- The location is also great because it is close to Northumbria University and the Quayside. 4- There is a small market in front of the accommodation, which is very useful when I don’t feel like walking to the far Tesco and just want something quick. There is also a pizza store nearby. 🌟One thing that really impressed me was when the kitchen toaster broke. They replaced it with a new one without blaming anyone or making us pay for it. I thought that was very professional and kind. Cleaners also come every month. Me and my flatmate already clean the kitchen deeply every week, but the accommodation cleaning is even more professional and detailed. 🌟Another thing I like is the mail room system. Parcels are organized alphabetically, so when you order something online, you only need to look for the shelf with the first letter of your name. For example, my name starts with “K,” so I only check the “K” section, which makes collecting parcels very easy. thanks✨

Very good accommodation, very attentive and helpful staff who are extremely quick to help. the maintenance team are exceptionally quick (one highlighted incident is when they arrived and fixed the flat front door 10 minutes after putting a request in, this was also at 12:30am). the facilities are amazing and provide so many opportunities for residents. the actual rooms are really lovely and clean, the perfect space for 1 person with great storage and sockets. internet speed is amazing making it great for students. kitchen is a good size with great facilities. i would definitely recommend quaypoint and i have rebooked for the next academic year.

My experience in the accommodation has unfortunately been quite negative. While the room and kitchen look modern, there are have been several issues which have affected the experience. I moved into this accommodation from another nearby one due to safeguarding reasons and was reassured that there were no issues with the people in the flat. Unfortunately this has not been the case and there have been ongoing problems within the flat which have made the environment uncomfortable. I also later found out from the girl who previously lived in my room had told management she was moving to a studio because of ongoing problems with one of the flatmates being unhygienic and having antisocial behaviour. This was concerning as I had been told there were no issues before I moved in. Management and communication have not been good. The lift in my building was broken for several months before it was finally fixed, which made moving around the building difficult. When I first moved in it was broken and it took us 9 hours to move accommodation as we had to carry all the heavy luggage up 5 flights without any assistance from the staff. There have also been difficulties the flat that have not been handled well. Management were informed about a problematic flatmate who was leaving out food for a long time in our shared kitchen, which lead to mould, a foul odour, and flies. This flatmate has also posted images and screenshots on her social media without consent talking badly about us, which has created an uncomfortable living environment. When this was raised, I was asked to organise a meeting with everyone in the flat myself, which I felt should’ve been handled by management. They eventually sent out an email about arranging a meeting, but most did not see it or were busy, and nothing further was followed. Since then the situation has continued and has become worse. In terms of facilities, the kitchen is not very practical for six people. There is only one fridge, sink, oven, and stove shared between all the residents, as well as limited countertop space and not enough seats for everyone, which can make daily use extremely difficult and inconvenient. The previous accommodation I lived in had multiple appliances, more cupboards, countertop space and seating, which made shared living much more enjoyable. Although the room itself is decent, there isn’t enough drawer or wardrobe storage, the light is cool and harsh which makes the space less comfortable, and the bed is rock hard. The bathroom is modern, but the shower pressure is very weak and the water quality isn’t great throughout both the bathroom and kitchen taps. The water tastes like chemicals and tends to leave residue on hair. Overall, while the accommodation looks nice on the surface, the limited kitchen facilities, flickering lights outside the accommodation for months which are still not fixed, gate which is broken and permanently unlocked, unresolved flat issues and lack of proactive management have made the experience disappointing.

Moved into a new flat today and Michael was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and offered to help carry most of my things! As I was completely on my own his help was beyond appreciated and I want to thank him for going the extra mile to help tenants here! It was also late in the evening so I found it very kind of him to offer the help he did.
