If I could give 0 stars, I would. I’ve lived at The Glassworks for two years, and the issues started from day one. For an entire year, there was a gap underneath my door — a complete fire hazard — and nothing was ever done about it despite being reported. Not only that, but it caused a constant draft coming through the room, and with my bed directly opposite the door, it made it feel like I had very little privacy. Customer service is extremely poor. Staff are consistently rude and unhelpful, and over the two years I’ve lived here I’ve often been made to feel uncomfortable by both the general manager and certain members of staff. One staff member in particular comes across with very “high school mean girl” energy, creating an atmosphere that feels unwelcoming and uneasy for residents. I made the mistake of renewing my stay last minute, and I regret it. When I moved into the room, it was clear that maintenance work had recently been carried out, but nothing had been properly cleaned up afterward. There were paint shavings all over the floor, bits of wood left behind from where things had been cut or sanded, and even loose screws scattered around the bathroom. The overall condition was completely unacceptable. Cupboards were sticky and still had bits of food left behind from previous occupants, suggesting the room hadn’t been cleaned at all. There was dust everywhere, and the entire space felt neglected. Although one of the cleaners did come and offer to clean the room, by that point I already had all my belongings in a van waiting to be moved in. For the sake of time, convenience, and making sure it was done properly, I ended up doing a full deep clean myself before I could even begin to settle in. Night staff/security frequently come up to rooms for unnecessary reasons. This has been reported by multiple residents, not just myself, yet no action has been taken. Many of the positive reviews you see online are misleading. In my experience, the accommodation frequently runs competitions and incentives encouraging students and residents to post positive reviews. This comes across as a form of bribery and creates a false impression, as the actual standard of the accommodation is nowhere near what is being portrayed. I strongly advise against booking here. There are plenty of other student accommodations in Newcastle with supportive and professional staff. Don’t risk letting your university experience be negatively affected by choosing this place.

I’ve lived here for two years now, and it’s been a really good experience overall. Being based in Ouseburn is a huge plus; it’s an amazing area and perfect for students. The studio rooms are modern, clean, and really comfortable to live in, and the staff are super friendly and always happy to help. The only downside this year was that the communal areas were closed, which was a shame as the pool and table tennis facilities are great and definitely add to the experience when they’re available. Overall, I’d definitely recommend staying here!

Great value for money I don’t think you could find anything similar for cheaper or the same price. Great location, not too close to city centre but also a short walk (10-15 minutes), so that means its not loud outside. Whenever we have issues we have them fixed straight away, they have social events all the time with freebies. Social space is really good but its currently out of use and don’t know when it will be back in use. The cleaners are always here so the accomodation is always spotless. Never had any issues with the wifi. Overall, I would recommend the glassworks

Easy access to Northumbria Campus, quiet area and spacious room with plenty of storage.

Overall, I’ve had a really good experience staying here. The facilities are great and everything is well-maintained. The staff are especially friendly and always willing to help, which makes a big difference. The only downside is the laundry situation. It had been closed for ages and still hasn’t been fixed, which is quite inconvenient. Hopefully this can be sorted soon!
