About this property

Ty Pont Haearn

Ty Pont Haearn Cardiff Student Accommodation Overview

Finalizing the right student accommodation in Cardiff often comes down to two things: how easily you can reach campus and how comfortably you can manage day-to-day life once you move in.

Ty Pont Haearn Cardiff brings both together. The property offers en-suite rooms in shared flats alongside private studios, giving students the flexibility to choose accommodation that suits their budget and preferred level of privacy. Utility bills are included in the rent, and shared facilities provide extra space for studying, relaxing or catching up with friends outside your room.

The city centre is only a short walk away, which means supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, shops and public transport are all close by. The University of South Wales is only a few minutes from the property, while Cardiff University is also within walking distance.

Students often mention the location when writing Ty Pont Haearn Cardiff reviews, especially the convenience of having both university buildings and the city centre nearby. Looking through recent room photos before booking can also give you a better idea of the different room layouts and communal areas.

Ty Pont Haearn Address & Location

Address:

Pellett Street, Cardiff CF10 4FS, United Kingdom

If you're looking for the Ty Pont Haearn address, this is the full location of the property. The Ty Pont Haearn postcode is CF10 4FS, which is useful for deliveries, taxi bookings and journey planning.

The building stands close to Cardiff city centre, placing students within walking distance of shops, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and Cardiff Queen Street railway station. Local bus routes also serve the surrounding area, making travel across Cardiff straightforward without depending on a car.

The University of South Wales is around a two-minute walk away, while Cardiff University can be reached in approximately twenty minutes on foot.

Why Choose Ty Pont Haearn Cardiff?

Short walk to university

The University of South Wales is only a few minutes from the property, which makes early lectures much easier to manage. Cardiff University is also close enough to reach on foot or by public transport.

Choose between an en-suite room or a studio

The accommodation includes shared flats with private en-suite bedrooms as well as self-contained studios. Students who enjoy shared living can choose an en-suite room, while a studio offers complete privacy with its own kitchen and bathroom.

Bills are already included

Electricity, heating, water, Wi-Fi and contents insurance all form part of the rent. There's no need to arrange separate utility accounts after moving in, and monthly accommodation costs stay predictable from the beginning of the tenancy.

Shared facilities support university life

Residents have access to study areas, a TV lounge, common room and PlayStation zone. These spaces give students another place to revise, work on group projects or spend time with friends without leaving the building.

Security and on-site support

Secure entry, CCTV, on-site staff and twenty-four-hour support are available throughout the tenancy. Maintenance requests and day-to-day questions can be handled directly through the on-site team.

For many students, Ty Pont Haearn stands out because the location, room options and included bills suit the routine that comes with university. The property keeps campus, transport and Cardiff city centre within easy reach, which helps simplify life outside the classroom.

Room Types & Prices at Ty Pont Haearn

The biggest decision here is whether you want a shared flat or your own studio.

An en-suite room gives you a private bedroom and bathroom while you share the kitchen with other residents. A studio keeps everything in one space, including your own kitchen. Both options come fully furnished, so you can move in without buying the essentials.

Little bit of a long review, I stayed here during my 1st year of university (2022-2023) although only started reviewing places as of this year!! Some things that I liked during my stay: 1. The pricing. I thought the pricing was incredibly fair at the time and I didn’t have to worry about spending my entire student finance on somewhere to live. 2. Room size. The photos I saw online looked a LOT smaller to what I had imagined although my room was actually huge in comparison. 3. The response time to emails and any other questions I had. They were quick, efficient and staff were always judgemental free regardless of the issue. 4. Freebies/events/incentives they held were always good. 5. Location. It’s a 50/50 split from the trains, although you are right next to the Motorpoint Arena, leading into the St David’s shopping centre. Some ‘issues’ I had when living here: 1. My room had silverfish, and this genuinely terrified me. 2. The lifts would often go out of service, and taking those stairs during a heatwave was in fact not for the weak. 3. Maintenance. The amount of scheduled maintenance/emails sent was kind of absurd to me, especially as someone who appreciated my own space. 4. Locks on doors. Me and my friend were able to open each others doors without having to use our keycards. Of course at night I would lock my door from the inside, but during the day anyone could just walk in. 5. Thin walls. I started playing a lot of Osu! when living here (it’s a rhythm game that requires you to tap your keyboard to the beat of the music) and now envision a blue switch keyboard going crazy at 3am😅. I was also able to hear my flatmates conversation in the room next to me, and vice versa with me on Discord. 6. After each fire drill, the alarms in the carpark below the building would go off for many hours at a time, often into the late evening. 7. Trains !! due to the location being right next to Cardiff Central station, you would hear the trains going back and fourth. Yes, in time you would not even notice this, but when first moving in, it was a nightmare. 8. Not necessarily a personal issue but moreso a PSA: the rooms during any sort of heatwave would cook you, and especially due to the fact that you can’t open the window fully as the rooms are high up, the heat can get to you on a bad day. 9. If you do not enjoy travelling to University and would rather walk, it might be worth rethinking as some people I knew would have to take the bus or train frequently.

Its ok for your first year of university, apart from the fire alarm going off the amount of times it did. It wasn't going off for the reasons it should. And the noise of it and how high pitch it was. I'm lucky it didn't damage my hearing. During the first 3 weeks it went off every evening. Because of how often it went off I slept through it twice. So wouldn't of been good if there was a real fire. I found silverfish in there like over 10 times in 52 weeks. Noise was minimal what I could hear from my room. But had to keep window shut otherwise was so noisy. The staff in there was helpful, friendly and approachable.

Good place to stay, there are frequent issues with the fire alarms but there’s not much that can be done especially if it’s because students tamper with them or vape in their rooms! The staff are absolutely lovely though, I work late nights so I had done my washing at 2am, and the next day after our kitchen inspection I go in to find my shirts all neatly folded for me! Thank you so much Julie and Caitlin 💕

The rooms are very nice but so many problems. It’s 21 floors and for a lot of my stay over the year the lifts were broken. The fire alarms consistently went off outside of the testing time which we received little advice or repair for. The boiler in our flat broke and flooded one of the rooms and the common room. The railway was also right outside my room which had constant repairs throughout the night and early hours of the morning. Some of the reception staff were lovely but would not recommend this accommodation to anyone.

Absolute joke. Silverfish everywhere and maintenance dont do anything about it. Maintenance requests ignored, I had my shower be unusable for a week before I had to request someone look into it for the 3rd time down at reception after being ignored the previous times. Was told both lifts would be fixed and replaced by may 11th, neither have been replaced, one is permanently down and the other frequently breaks. For the price you pay you're better off anywhere other than here!

FAQs

There are TVs in many of the communal areas, and some bedrooms include TVs too - you can check what's available at your property on your property page or in your welcome guide. You'll be sent a link to your welcome guide before you arrive. You will need a TV licence for your bedroom if you‚are watching TV live or on-demand, and if you have a TV licence for your bedroom this automatically covers the communal kitchen too. If you just want to watch TV in the communal kitchen, then you and your flatmates can arrange a single TV licence together. Students living in a studio will also need to arrange their own TV licence if you plan to watch TV live or on-demand.

No, unfortunately pets are not allowed. If you need a guide dog or working dog to assist you, please get in touch to discuss your options.

No, subletting your room is not allowed. If you do wish to leave your contract early you will need to find a replacement tenant, and provide us with their details so that we can release you from your contract and create a new tenancy agreement for them.

If an item in your flat has stopped working, please raise a maintenance request in the Unite Students App before you check-out. If we are aware of items that need repairing in advance, and there has been no malicious damage, you won't be charged.
