West Wing, cardiff

Good accomodation for students only. I stayed 12 nights only, overseas student. The room was adequate, a good desk to study, heating was working , fresh air from two windows. Bathroom clean, good shower, new grouting. Permanent staff was very friendly. Weekend and evening staff friendly too, particularly Saeed and the other male staff during Easter. There was a young woman in the evenings that was not interested in what was happening around, always on the phone. The alarm went off a few times at night while I was there, very loud, scary. I was told is mostly caused by students cooking . When I arrived the floor of my room was not vacuumed, not even the corridor. I vacuumed, and the next day bought some floor wipes to clean the floor that was very dirty, so I could walk barefoot when I was in the room. Laundry available on the building. Small gym. Walking distance to the centre, close to Tesco, close to bus stops. It was a good stay, worth the cost.

I stayed at West Wing from September 2025, and right from the start, the staff and management were attentive and supportive. Every maintenance issue was resolved quickly, and any queries I had were handled with care. They organized events to keep us engaged, making Cardiff feel like a community. Living on the sixth floor, I also enjoyed an incredible view! This was my first time away from home, and West Wing ensured I never felt far from one. They made it a second home for me. I’ll always remember the warmth and kindness. I’d wholeheartedly recommend West Wing to any student starting out in Cardiff. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so special! -Ameya

I would avoid this accommodation if you are staying in Cardiff for university. First of all it is pricey considering it is a bit far from Cathays campus and it seems there is always something wrong with the utilities. The hot water was unavailable for a week during the colder months, Portable heaters were eventually provided, which was helpful, but we were required to leave our ID card at reception in order to collect one which was inconvenient. Now there is another maintenance service happening to the water supply meaning we have been unable to use the taps or showers for a week. What has been particularly frustrating is the lack of communication. We received very little notice about the maintenance, despite the disruption lasting for several days.

It was impressive when I moved in during the first day! It’s a brand new student accommodation and the modern appearance outside looks fantastic! Even the construction work hasn’t finished completely but it doesn’t impact the living experience and enjoyment at all. All the staff in the reception are so kind. They did me a huge favour and make my moving so much easier! Coffee and desserts are provided in the study room, which is a terrific place for quiet reading, study and work. The rooms and kitchen are all well-equipped. There’s a massive space for storing luggage and things in each room. Bathroom is spacious and bright. Everything looks shining. The good location and 24/7 security just make life cosier and more pleasant. Will definitely recommend The West Wing to my friend and all students. It meets all your expectations and will give you an unforgettable living and studying experience. Trust me, you won’t regret for that! Thanks Nell, Ewan, Christian and all the staff for all your great work and effort!

Terrible at resolving an issue Pleasant room Staff slow to respond to an issue (loud gurgling from bathroom which disturbed my sleep). Reported on first evening and asked to switch rooms. Reported to a different person in the morning and promised a fix but room not switched until third night. Message to accommodation about this never responded to. Request for partial refund sent a week ago not responded to. Booking.com reached out to the manager and no resolution by the accommodation. For my future regular visits to Cardiff, I wouldn't touch the West Wing with a bargepole.
