Extremely unaccommodative especially to international students. Asking for full year advance rent payment upfront for about £10,000 when I won’t even be a student after 7 months. Worst gym. No ventilation or space. smells like tar.

It's a fantastic experience to live in Howard Gardens. One of the biggest plus is the fact that laundry is free. Also, the staff are so wonderful.

While Howard Gardens offers the appealing benefit of free laundry, my overall experience during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic years was deeply disappointing. I feel compelled to share my experience to help prospective residents make an informed decision. Staff and Management The staff were consistently unprofessional, often rude, and unhelpful. On several occasions, I was shouted at, including by the maintenance staff, creating a hostile and stressful living environment. In one instance, a staff member's behavior reduced me to tears, and while the manager apologized on their behalf, the individual never personally acknowledged their misconduct. Adding to this, I experienced staff gossiping about me in an unprofessional manner, including involving student staff members. This behavior was deeply upsetting and further eroded any trust or comfort I had while living there. Communication was generally poor, and I am still waiting to receive my £250 deposit despite multiple follow-ups. Maintenance Issues Maintenance concerns were another major source of frustration. When I reported issues in my room, rather than addressing the problem constructively, the staff were dismissive and even attempted to shift blame onto me. For instance, a leaking shower basin that took over two months to resolve, requiring constant follow-ups from my side. During this time, I was juggling the demands of a rigorous pharmacy course at Cardiff University, and the additional stress was unwelcome and exhausting. Living Conditions The building itself suffered from recurring problems, including electrical outages and leaks, which were poorly handled. These systemic issues, combined with unprofessional behavior from staff, made living there an overwhelmingly negative experience. Conclusion Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Howard Gardens. While the free laundry and en-suite rooms might seem convenient, the unprofessional staff, delayed maintenance responses, and hostile environment make it a poor choice, particularly for students with demanding schedules. If you are considering accommodations in Cardiff, I strongly urge you to explore other options, such as houses or flats that offer similar amenities without the added stress and frustration. There are alternatives that prioritize respectful treatment, professional management, and timely issue resolution—qualities sorely lacking at Howard Gardens. Howard Gardens consistently takes advantage of students and shows little regard for their well-being or concerns. They operate with the assumption that they can exploit students, treating us in ways no reputable business would treat paying customers. The staff are unwelcoming and dismissive, creating an environment that feels more hostile than supportive. I strongly advise prospective residents not to be fooled by their initial offerings or promises, as the overall experience is far from acceptable. Students deserve respect and professionalism, and unfortunately, Howard Gardens falls far short of both.

If you are an international student, choose carefully! Very bad experience, I chose Howard garden because I was staying in another prime student accomodation. The free washing machine often broke down and the elevator was also damaged by a fire drill and was suspended for 2 months. During the entire year of the residence, the Air hockey in the activity room was never able to work, even though I complained several times. Employees are often rude, especially tall maintenance workers. International converters and imported appliances seem to have a strong allure for them, and employees are keen to confiscate them. The staff first told me to buy a UK power cord and allowed me to use it, but when I bought it, they refused to let me use it on the grounds that the imported appliances did not have English. I highly recommend westing and Eclipse next door

The best place you’ll ever live, the staff are so friendly, the bedroom and kitchen space is amazing and the events hosted are always so much fun. And it’s so cheap! The value for money is crazy. I have no doubt that this is the best student accommodation option for you no matter what uni your in. As someone who used to live with unite students, this is an insane step up from what I was in before, and I’m actually paying LESS for a gym, cinema room, games rooms and study space, which I didn’t have at all with unite students. I can’t recommend prime highly enough
