About this property
A long route to campus can quietly take over your week, especially when lectures, library time, food shopping, and laundry all need space in your schedule.
Cambrian Point is on Maindy Road, a practical Cardiff location for anyone studying at Cardiff University. The walk to campus is short, the city centre stays within easy reach, and everyday places like supermarkets, cafés, parks, and transport links are nearby.
Cambrian Point student accommodationin Cardiff offers en-suite rooms with shared kitchens, so you get your own bathroom without missing the usual flat setup. Bills, Wi-Fi, and contents insurance are included in the weekly rent, which makes it easier to plan your costs before the term starts.
If you are reading Cambrian Point Cardiff reviews before booking, look beyond the rating. Comments about room size, kitchen sharing, maintenance, laundry, noise, and the walk to campus will give you a clearer idea of what the property feels like during a normal week.

Maindy Road works well if your week moves between lectures, food shops, the gym, the library and the city centre.
Need groceries after class? Sainsbury’s on Queen Street and Tesco Express at St David’s Centre are both useful for regular shopping. The Cathays area also has smaller stores, cafés and takeaways, so you do not have to plan every meal around a big supermarket trip.
Want to get out of your room for a while? Bute Park and Blackweir Fields give you green space nearby, which helps during long coursework weeks. Queen Street also has cafés such as Bru Coffee and More, while places such as Brewhouse on St Mary Street work well for a casual evening with friends.
For transport, Cardiff Queen Street station is useful for rail links across the city and beyond. Bus stops such as Fitzalan Place and West Grove also connect the area to different parts of Cardiff, so daily travel does not depend on one route.
If most of your week will revolve around Cardiff University, Cambrian Point can save a lot of daily travel time. The property is on Maindy Road in Cathays, close to the Business School, local shops, cafés, bus routes and green space.
You may want to keep it on your shortlist if:
A lot of Cambrian Point Cardiff reviews focus on the same things: the short walk to Cardiff University, the en-suite setup, the bills-included rent and the student-heavy Cathays location. These are the details that matter once the term starts, not just during the booking stage.
Every room at Cambrian Point Cardiff comes furnished with a bed, study desk, storage space and a private en-suite bathroom. The kitchen is shared with other residents in your flat. Weekly prices vary according to room size and contract length, so it's worth checking the latest availability before you book.

All rooms include a private bathroom with a shower, wash basin and toilet, so there's no need to queue for shared facilities before lectures.
The kitchen is shared with your flatmates, while your bedroom and bathroom stay completely your own. It's a setup that suits many university students because it offers personal space without missing out on flat life.
The main difference between room categories is size. If extra floor space matters to you, the larger rooms are worth considering. If you're trying to keep your weekly rent lower, the standard room options usually make more sense.
Room availability changes throughout the year and becomes much more limited before the September intake. If you've already accepted your university offer, it's worth checking availability sooner rather than later.
Before confirming your booking, look at:
If you cannot visit Cambrian Point Cardiff in person, spend a little extra time checking the room details and floor plan before making a decision.
Most facilities here support everyday university life. You'll find practical services inside the building, along with shared spaces for downtime between lectures.

Not every evening ends with coursework. Sometimes you just want to sit somewhere other than your room, catch up with friends or spend an hour chatting with your flatmates. The shared social areas give you that option.

Utility bills and Wi-Fi are already part of the weekly rent, so you won't receive separate charges for electricity, gas or water during your tenancy.
One reason many students shortlist Cambrian Point Cardiff is the time it saves during the week. Most of the city's major universities are close enough to reach on foot, by bike or with a short bus journey.
If you're joining Cardiff University, the location is one of the strongest points of Cambrian Point student accommodation. The Cathays Park campus is around 0.56 miles away, so plenty of students choose to walk instead of waiting for a bus. The Business School is even closer, which makes early lectures much less of a rush.
The Heath Park campus is about 0.81 miles away and is also easy to reach.
Students studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University can reach both main campuses without much difficulty. Llandaff sits around 1.01 miles away, while Cyncoed is roughly 1.57 miles from the property. Cycling is popular for both routes, and local buses run throughout the day.
The Cardiff campus of the University of South Wales is around 1.36 miles away. Walking works for many students, while regular bus services cut the journey down even further.
The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama is only 0.6 miles from Cambrian Point Cardiff, making it another practical choice if that's where you'll spend most of your week.
The area around Cambrian Point Cardiff covers most day-to-day needs without sending you across the city. Grocery shopping, a quick coffee, a gym session or a quiet walk in the park can all fit into your routine between lectures.
Running out of milk, bread or kitchen essentials is easy to sort out here.
Need somewhere to revise away from your room or catch up with friends after class?
University work doesn't always happen indoors.
If the gym is already part of your routine, there are several choices nearby.

When you need more than groceries, Cardiff city centre has several shopping destinations within easy reach.
Coursework doesn't always get finished in your room.

Companies House and Maindy Stadium are the nearest bus stops, both around a 4 to 6-minute walk away. Cardiff Bus runs frequent services across the city, and many students buy a Unirider pass because it covers unlimited travel within selected zones during term time.
Cardiff is one of the easier UK cities to get around by bike. Dedicated bike storage is available at Cambrian Point, and dedicated cycle routes cover many parts of the city. If you don't own a bike, the Nextbike cycle hire scheme is another option.
For trips outside Cardiff, Cathays Station and Cardiff Central Station are both within easy reach. Cardiff Central is the main railway station for journeys across Wales and the rest of the UK.
Uber and Dragon Taxis both operate across Cardiff. They're useful after an evening out, late library sessions or when you're carrying shopping back to your accommodation.

Very nice receptionists, Neeraj specially is great! I have a lot of friendly chats with him since we're from the same place. Always helpful when I have enquiries even about small things. They also are very nice to help with the gaming set up in reception like the wii and the book exchange, and they had cool events like the cupcake decorating event which was really fun! Reception always has nice music playing, and the study room is very peaceful!

Please do not come here!!! I have been living here for the past year and I’m counting the days when I have to leave this hell. The elevator at my block has been broken since I moved in. So if you’re disabled or have mobility difficulties, good luck. The staff are not helpful at all and will refuse to tell you any information; even when your flatmates move out without telling anyone and leave all their rotting food behind for you to clean up. If your lucky, you will be placed in a building near the laundry room, but if your living in the further away blocks, your gonna be expecting around an 11 minute long walk to the laundry room, especially if your carrying heavy bags of laundry. Which also costs an absurd amount of 7£ to wash and dry. The security lock the main gates at 8pm, so you will have to walk to the further away gates near the laundry room. Plus they constantly bike lock the gates without warning. If you order a taxi or food delivery after 8pm, or when the gates are broken so they bike lock it. You will have to walk all the way to the further away gate, then back to the main gate on the outside. So don’t forget to consider at least those 20 minutes before you catch your taxi or food delivery so you’re not late :D The gates themselves are super heavy, so again if you have a disability or mobility issues you’re going to struggle just coming in and out of the accommodation. It also makes entering with your bike more challenging. Maintenance will just enter your room without warning. They do “sometimes” email like weeks before maintenance come in. But just being on top of the maintenance schedule can be a lot so you will get the nice surprise of a strange man in your room while you’re in the shower like those in horror movies. If you’re expecting packages or letters those will be in two separate places. The packages will be in reception in a locked room that anyone with an email can access so the lock is just an inconvenience. The letters will be all over the place. There is a letter box in the laundry room but you need a key that they don’t give you. Of course. So let’s hope you have small enough hands to dig in into your own mail box. Around December/January They installed a new heating system that turns off automatically so you will find yourself freezing at night. And In the summer, the windows barely open so it feels like you’re in a sauna. It’s strange since the building is not that old. In conclusion, don’t waste your money here, even if you think it’s close to your university. Just get a bike and you’ll be fine.

I have lived here for 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The new common room is modern and I like how there is a book swap and board games to play whenever we like. They host regular events that are varied too that have food! The lift is down in my block, however staff have been really helpful- updating us about the progress.

This has genuinely been one of the worst student accommodations I’ve lived in. The management promises services that are rarely provided. The lifts are constantly broken, the gates stop working regularly, and because of that you sometimes have to walk an extra half kilometre just to get out of the accommodation. They claim the kitchens are cleaned fortnightly, but in reality they are left dirty for months without anyone coming to clean them. Hygiene and maintenance are clearly not taken seriously here. The heating system is equally frustrating the heaters switch on and off within minutes and barely work properly. For the amount students pay, the living conditions and management are extremely disappointing. I would honestly not recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a comfortable or well-maintained place to stay.

The people here are very friendly and they are worth talking to, but the place is very bad. Nothing here works properly, nothing at all. Like the lift of my block has been broken more than a month. It first broke and then it was fixed then it broke again the next day, and since then it is broken and it has been more than a month. Every week they say the next week we will get information on the lift and the next week never comes. The heater is one of the worst things here. It gets cold at night but it does not turn on its own. Their “smart heater” is the worst thing. At nights it gets harder to sleep due to cold rooms. Worst accommodation ever. I am waiting for my contract to end this month, and will move out. I do not suggest anyone to stay here
