If you are planning to live your best life in the Welsh capital, you need a base that actually screams high-end urbanite rather than "I live in a cupboard." Enter City Heights Cardiff Student Accommodation, a property that is basically the architectural equivalent of a standing ovation. Located right in the thick of the action, this isn't just a place to crash after a long day of pretending to understand your lecturers; it is a high-definition, luxury experience designed for the student who refuses to compromise on quality or vibes.
Cardiff is a city known for its legendary spirit, and City Heights matches that energy with a sleek, modern aesthetic that makes every other student block in the city look incredibly basic. We are talking about a building that dominates the skyline and offers views that will make your Instagram followers genuinely concerned for their own lifestyle choices. From the moment you step into the lobby, you realize you aren't in a typical dorm. You are in a sophisticated hub where industrial chic meets cozy comfort.
The design philosophy here is simple: maximize the "main character" energy. Every inch of this space has been curated for a generation that values aesthetics as much as utility. Huge windows, high-spec finishes, and a layout that actually makes sense for real life—whether you are hosting a pre-game session or grinding through a 3,000-word essay. You are perfectly positioned to navigate the city's famous shopping districts, the electric nightlife of St Mary Street, and the academic corridors of the city's top universities. This is a sanctuary for the ambitious, the stylish, and the social. If you want to spend your uni years in a building that feels like a boutique hotel but functions like a high-tech fortress, you have officially arrived at the right coordinate. It is time to stop settling for "mid" and start living for the glow-up.
Life at the City Heights - Cardiff
Life at City Heights Student Accommodation is essentially like having a VIP pass to Cardiff. The daily ritual here is built around the idea that student life shouldn’t be a struggle. Let’s talk facilities: we are looking at a state-of-the-art gym that makes those expensive city memberships look like a scam. There is a cinema room that is a total mood for those rainy Welsh afternoons when you just want to binge-watch a series on a screen that is larger than your future.
Socially, the vibe is unmatched. This isn't a place where you just nod at people in the elevator. The communal lounges and social spaces are designed to be interaction magnets. The property team is always cooking up resident events—think pizza takeovers, wellness workshops that actually help, and seasonal parties that go incredibly hard. It is the perfect environment for making those "friends for life" you were promised in the brochure. You get the privacy of a studio with the social battery of a festival.
Safety is handled with the kind of precision you’d expect from a high-end development. With 24/7 CCTV, secure key-fob entry, and a management team that actually answers the phone, you are living in a fortress of chill. Maintenance drama? Forget about it. The on-site team fixes things before they become a problem. The ultimate flex, however, is the all-inclusive billing. Your rent covers everything—lightning-fast Wi-Fi, water, heating, and electricity. One payment, zero drama, and more money left for your weekend adventures in the city. It is the peak of stress-free adulting for the modern student who values their peace as much as their social status.

I recommend reading this all if you’re planning on living here from 2026! If you are planning to live here during 2026 or 2027, your whole day will be drowned out with the most loudest drilling and hammering, so loud it sounds like it’s happening right next to you in your ear. They are currently taking down the building next door and are then going to build flats in its place. You’ll hear the most repetitive strongest drilling and men screaming at 7am all the way to 4 or 5pm every day. YES EVEN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS! It is driving us mad and is SO deafening. Shutting the windows won’t change a thing, noise cancelling won’t help you at all, it’s still so painful to hear all the time. So if you like sleep or just like to be able to concentrate when working on university work, don’t come here this year or next. I wish I could of included videos in this review so you can understand the intensity of it, but Google doesn’t allow it… Can I also add that my rent is increasing from £270 to £340 per week next year?! What the hell! They are painting 2 walls and replacing our sofa with the exact same one just black and it’s being increased by £70. Thats £3500 extra! That’s incredibly insane, with the lack of washing facilities, lift always being broken, no answers from reception when we email, serious safety security issues, no wifi 70% of the day, the rooms being unliveable without air-cons during spring/summer AND our room completely falling apart, it should no way be anywhere close to that price. They are making out that next year will be this massive upgrade, but if anything, all they are doing is making everything worse! It’s really disappointing because I’ve lived here for 2 years now and it’s been by far the best accommodation for the price, but I can’t stand with this price increase, considering everyone are students already scraping by to survive a cost of living crisis and a company like mansion students are being this greedy. The worst company in cardiff. No other accommodation has had these issues with a company changeover. I’m scared about how much it will cost in 2027! Also the lift is broken at least once a week, sucks if you live on a higher floor, or have accessibility needs! I’m so sorry, I never usually leave reviews, but something has to be said, everyone I know living here feels the same. And since I’m still living here I didn’t have the courage to say anything until I saw someone else complain about the same issues as me. Edit (May): I’m just going to keep adding to this review every time something awful happens here. In November our blind by the bed came off of the wall and hit me on the head when I was trying to raise it. And today it’s happened again but this time I was not even touching it. I’m not kidding when I say these rooms are a mess! It’s so dangerous! Edit (July): So our blind has been broken since May and we STILL have no blind NEXT to the bed, letting in all the sun all day, making the room extremely hot and having no privacy when we sleep. We also STILL after 8, yes 8 months have no window handle! They keep saying they are coming to fix it and never do. This is the reality of city heights. When something is broken, they don’t fix it and therefore are going against the tenancy agreement we have made with them. There is continuous construction next door which lets in an unbelievable amount of dirt and dust, and because we can’t close our window, our bedroom furniture is ruined on the daily. And you may be thinking that this is just one room, I’m sure the others are okay! Nope, there are plenty of rooms that have window handles breaking off, blinds falling, things breaking and none of them are getting fixed. They are either incompetent to do it, or can’t be asked! I just want privacy as I sleep in bed and a fixed room for god sake, no one is helping us or replying to our emails as per usual :(

I had a very pleasant stay at City Heights Cardiff. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The location is excellent, with easy access to the city centre, shops, restaurants, and public transportation. The facilities were modern and provided everything required for a comfortable stay. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would happily recommend City Heights to anyone looking for quality accommodation in Cardiff.

The behaviour of the staff here is absolutely disgusting. Mansion students do nothing about it when you contact them either. I stayed here this past year and it was shockingly bad. Things would break and it would take weeks to fix. And I don’t mean small appliances. My window handle broke off and I couldn’t shut my window fully in the dead of winter. It took 3 weeks to resolve this. My fridge also broke and it took a week to fix it, this is a literal breach of contract and they simply didn’t care. Andrew who works here was never in or he would leave early. He would leave all the work to the maintenance guy, who quit because he was left with a huge workload and no help at all. The building began falling apart when mansion took over. Trash filled the hallway. Bins weren’t taken out for two months. Worst of all I left for a few weeks to visit home. When I came out my stuff had been taken from my room. Andrew told the cleaners to clear out peoples rooms 2 months before contracts ended. He did not email any students about this. He did this to several people simply because he hadn’t kept up to date with who was staying there and needed new management to think he was doing his job sufficiently. The cleaners not only took my items but either disposed of them or stole them. I am not joking when I say the people who work here would rather commit crimes than do their jobs. DO NOT RENT FROM MANSION STUDENTS. It is actual daylight robbery. I was offered no help but instead they offered me £50 when they stole over £500 worth of items. They also give u dirty and broken items, like torn up sofas and stained mattresses. The place is an absolute nightmare. Avoid any buildings under this management company. Also the area is so dodgy and there is so much traffic. I really hope this review helps someone avoid staying here. 💕
Ellie
Good sized apartments, but that’s about it. They are falling apart, cheaply built and no one is ever in the office or answers when I want to pick up my parcels. Must be an easy life for whoever works there. In terms of where it is located, it has lots of things around it and is not too far of a walk from town, but it is far away from all universities and the road it sits on is extremely loud! Cars honk their horns and exhausts all through the night, and drilling always takes place early in the mornings and goes on all day😕

Andrew is super helpful!! He is extremely friendly and he answered all my questions patiently. City Heights is a super nice place! I sincerely recommend it:)
