About this property
Brunel House sits on St George's Road in central Bristol, close to university buildings, bus routes, shops, and places students regularly use throughout the week.
The property offers both studio rooms and en-suite rooms in shared flats. Some residents prefer having their kitchen and living space, while others like the social side of sharing a flat with other students. Because of that mix, Brunel House Bristol attracts students with different budgets and living preferences.
The building itself occupies a former Victorian hotel dating back to the 1830s, so it feels slightly different from many newer student blocks across the city. Alongside the accommodation, there are study areas, communal spaces, and outdoor gardens that residents can use throughout the year.
For students living in Brunel House, the appeal usually comes from its central location and the choice between private studios and shared accommodation that it offers.

The accommodation is decent, but there are many issues with it- particularly for how much we have to pay. 1. There seems to be only one or two cleaners for the entire accommodation, leading to many areas (particularly hallways) collecting a lot of dirt and rubbish (just a tip they will not clean the kitchen if there is anything on the surface- even a singular tea towel). 2. There are not nearly enough amenities for the cost of this accommodation, there is a study room, some games, and a laundry room (around £6 to wash and dry one load). 3. Often the lifts are broken, but they do get fixed quickly. 4. The en suite showers ALL get blocked and the showers sometimes overflow into the rooms below. 5. In flat 107 (at least) many of the rooms are visible from Brandon Steep- if you want any privacy then be prepared for your blinds to be down all the time. 6. The hobs are terrible and will not stay on for more than 5 minutes. 7. The kitchen radiators WILL melt the sofa. 8. The kitchen will stink for days after cooking due to very limited ventilation. HOWEVER- the staff are lovely and helpful, the bedrooms are a good size, and the accommodation is nice looking and in a good location. But unless you have a few grand to spare and don’t mind bad smells, do not come here. x

If the kitchen is too dirty, the cleaner who is supposed to come once a week has stopped cleaning it. So what’s the point of us PAYING for the SERVICE ? There was even a time when no cleaner came for two weeks. Apart from the kitchen cleaning issue, there are no other complaints.

In terms of pros, the staff here are just lovely and having someone there 24/7 is a nice touch. Plus, the entertainment area is pretty good (table tennis, pool, PS4, arcade style games, beanbags…) that being said it’s not the most social accom in my experience. Kitchen storage is solid, rooms pretty top-notch (you’d hope considering price ££££) and very practical + great insulation. Oh, and the WiFi? Two networks to choose from, both speedy. Plus, they're super chill about guests, which is a big plus. Sweet location too if your chill about walking up park street every morning to get to uni! On the flip side, the water pressure, temperature and draining in showers can be a bit hit or miss, and don't count on getting much cell signal – I got zero! Beds are alright, not fantastic - a good mattress topper would help. Also, there's some inequality between the blocks, with A block getting the lion's share of space but that seems par for the course in student digs. All that being said I’d recommend this accommodation and would stay here again. Also there’s a pretty dope old amphitheatre next to C block that’s worth a look at if you like that kinda thing.
