Worst decision of my life to live here as thought it’s convenient rather than renting outside and as my experience at Chesil House was ok before being transferred here. Walls thin. Staff never resolved your issues. Some flatmates probably are the type who aren’t accepted anywhere else hence behaving horribly and would rather deflecting than taking responsibility (at least that's in my opinion as their living standards feel off to me). Sometimes maintenance would barge in the kitchen without any notice. Then it turned out once I tried to find another place almost all landlords were welcoming and willing to negotiate. The good thing is the nice garden, and staff did attempt mediation, however late. Please consider carefully before choosing this place to not risk your wellbeing for the entire term.

I’ve lived here for a year while attending university, and based on my experience, I would not recommend living here unless you're barely in your room and only need a quiet place near campus. While the location is convenient—close to the university and several supermarkets nearby—the overall living condition is not great. Here are some reasons why I think you should consider other options: The tap water here is not suitable for drinking. It always tastes off, and the quality seems inconsistent. There are only two washers and two dryers for the entire building and one of the dryers is frequently broken There’s rarely anyone at reception. Staff only show up once a week—or even once every two weeks—so it’s hard to get help when you need it. There is no system for receiving parcels. Packages are left out on a table outside the reception, which increases the risk of theft. The fire alarm goes off very often, usually during the night. Since there’s no staff on-site, it takes around 30 minutes for someone authorized to come and turn it off. This is especially disruptive for those with early shifts or sleeping difficulties. Moreover the fire alarms go off so frequently that many residents no longer take them seriously, Many of us received rooms that were in extremely dirty condition when we moved in and had to clean them ourselves. The vacuum cleaners provided are either non-functional or in terrible condition. We've had to clean them by hand, and there’s a shortage of them. The lifts frequently break down and take weeks to be repaired. The windows in the rooms don’t open fully, leading to poor airflow. No fans are provided to make up for the lack of ventilation. Pros: Quiet environment Very close to university Supermarkets and essential shops nearby In summary, if you plan to spend most of your time outside and just need a place to sleep, the location might work for you. But if comfort, safety, and reliable facilities matter to you, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Very bad place. I would not recommend it! Go get private accommodation, this one is a scam and a joke. 1. They said they would have someone at the reception all the time, this meant for them only a couple of days per week during the day, nobody was there to secure the house at night. Probably saving money by cutting short staff. This resulted in people not receiving their packages. 2. Many problems such as, water leeking from the celling, under the sink, things not working properly and being repaired to last a bit. 3. During the begging of the pandemic in March, people left the house and they refused to let them off without paying the last instalment, in the end they barely agreed to give back 50%. 4. The maintenance staff was rude, like busting in the flats at 7-8 AM, slamming doors and talking out loud, not wearing masks or gloves. Sometimes knocking at the door only one and then entering. 5. Most of the time around the building is garbage, they don’t clean that often, probably just when students arrive, in the rest of the year they only have one cleaning personnel. 6. Responding to emails after 2-5 days. 7. The garage was open till this August, so we had homeless people storing stuff right underneath us, singing and yelling at night, doing drugs and making it scary for students to walk around Okeford. 8. The garbage bin area is a mess, and the door was broken so many times, it would beep all night because the wind would slam it. 9. Water problems, and the showers are a mess, they leek water everywhere whenever you take a shower. Overall with those money I could’ve had a nice year in a normal accommodation since It’s the same price, hope the best for the new students and let yourself fooled by their friendly facade that they display in the beginning!

My daughter has lived here for nearly a year as she was a post grad student. The facilities were minimal. Any repairs would take several requests and then not be repaired properly. The views of the students were not listened to. The company, CLV, were incredibly reluctant to reimburse students for the third instalment of rent, even though the university had closed due COVID-19 and the students had moved out. Do not recommend this company for student accommodation.

Wouldn't recommend living here. Maintenance is always short staffed, and since Okeford has fewer residents compared to other halls, they never prioritize any problems at Okeford unless extremely urgent. Reception is never manned as scheduled. It just doesn't seem like living here is worth the expensive rent that I've been paying.
