I had a largely positive experience staying at Chesil House for a year. The standout aspect was definitely the staff, especially Irem, who was incredibly helpful and caring. Whenever I had a request, they were quick to respond and accommodating. In terms of maintenance, it was a bit of a mixed bag. While the lighting in my room was fixed promptly (within a week), I did face long delays—several months—for the bathroom fan repair. Noise was another factor, as the location near a police station and a main roundabout made it a bit loud at times. However, the building’s insulation and double-glazed windows kept it relatively quiet, and the sirens were the main source of noise. A significant issue was the communal kitchen, where there was insufficient fridge space for the number of residents. Despite multiple reports, the problem with cockroaches in the kitchen was never resolved, causing discomfort. Additionally, adding an extra fridge could significantly alleviate the storage issues and would be a relatively simple and cost-effective fix. On the plus side, the location of Chesil House is prime. It’s within walking distance to Lansdowne campus, the town center, and the beach, making it arguably the best student accommodation location in Bournemouth. Overall, Chesil House offered a comfortable and supportive environment, particularly thanks to the attentive staff. With improvements in maintenance, kitchen cleanliness, and fridge space, it could be even better.

Great accomodation, shame about the ventalation :( Its incredibly stuffy at night, with windows open and a fan on and its difficult to sleep through the spring and summer months

I lived here from September 2023 to end of June 2024, I will try to be concise and cover the main aspects I liked and disliked: Pros: -Good location in terms of transport to university and local amenities, large Asda at walking distance, small coop just underneath the accom means small shops are easily done (albeit very expensive) and town just around the corner. -As far as Bournemouth accoms are concerned, Chesil is one of the more quiet ones. If you're a more mature person I'd recommend it, compared to the constant noise and chaos of partygoing students at Cranborne. -The staff are lovely* (see more in cons section) for the most part, and are happy to help or have a chat with in most cases. -Facilities are usually nice and tidy, the staff do a great job of keeping areas clean. Cons: -Being next to a major round-about to town means there's a constant influx of cars and scooters going past, meaning it's quite noisy at all hours of the day. -Being next to Cranborne House means you have a slew of 18yo students off their rockers on alcohol screaming in the street at ungodly hours of the morning. -Being next to the local police station means there are police sirens zooming past your window daily. -The building is great at insulating heat, meaning it does become stuffy very quickly with the windows being closed. This can be painful if you want to get away from the noise of vehicles going past your window. -Small detail, the windows are dirty on the outside. The building would greatly benefit from having exterior facing windows cleaned by contractors every so often. -Staff, despite the team being generally lovely they are all let down by an Employee named Carlos. After having lived here for a year I can soundly say he is a lazy/poor employee: constantly on his phone, looks at you as if you've insulted him and sighs when asking to retrieve mail, closing the shutters despite clearly being sat on his phone behind it. I'd rate this accom 3/5, not the best but far from being the worst.

Most of the rooms are dirty and small, scratches all over the wall and dull lights including the corridors outside the rooms as well. Noise all the time especially at night, poor service and rude staff. Staff and maintenance enters your room without any permission. Additionally, the lift didn't work for 4 weeks Chesil house refused to fix it. since I stayed in the fifth floor, It made my days difficult using the stairs as I was carrying either heavy bags from supermarkets, dirty laundry, parcels and heavy luggage when leaving . Common room is so boring with only tv, table tennis and damaged pool table. Worst accommodation ever, regret for staying there for more than a year, Just Avoid
