Grime Regis is a wonderful accommodation if you hate yourself. Aside from the double beds and the kitchen with enough room (given we only have 4/5 rooms filled), this place is terrible. - Leaking windows in rooms and in the kitchen, water coming out of the seal after you close the window and it's been raining. Pooling onto the desk where you will presumably have all of your expensive technology. In the kitchen, the window leaks regardless of whether it's been open and closed and it's raining. Water collecting in the corner and lifting up the vinyl flooring, water dripping through the ceiling from the room above, and a damp stain in the corner from it. This is clearly a prevalent issue in the building as when I complained they informed me they had been notified of it. They said they are working on getting a "contractor" in, who supposedly, they can't get in at anything faster than a leisurely pace. I would presume that the contractor will never come to repair the windows until I continually complain to the reception about it. - The pipes under the sink also leaked. A simple 30 second fix which required almost no effort to do. You can see that this has been going on for a while, too, as there is a dirty stain in the corner of the storage compartment under there. - The pipes in the wall alongside the fridge have started to leak too, after using the sink. Every now and then you can blatantly hear the dripping. I am yet to go and complain to reception about this, as I simply think that they are going to ignore it and rely on the trusty old contractor excuse. - CLV staff seem to enter flats without any forewarning whatsoever. We've had staff members come into our flat without any prior email, to remove the door handle from the vacant room at 10 in the morning. In addition, a staff member came in at what I think was 7 am, while I was cooking breakfast in the kitchen. He seemed surprised that I was in there and it almost made me think that he wasn't actually meant to be in there given the way he acted. He removed a panel from the wall next to the fridge that wasn't leaking before this, and just casually looked at the pipe like he was doing something with it. (Although we did have an E-Mail sent out around this period saying there were going to be doing water checks in the building). - The effort to clean up or check anything before residents moved in was absolutely minimal. The oven is literally in a horrific condition, covered in grease and grime (appropriate to the nickname of this place). En suite extractor fan filled with dust, heater filled with dust that gives off a burning smell, a cupboard in my room with the bottom panel entirely slid out which I had to repair myself with duct tape, shower head is rusty and can't be adjusted without using the main threading (unscrewing the whole head, which keep in mind, makes it leak), the extractor fan panel above the stove dented and hanging out and damp stains on the back of the wall behind the desk from where the window has leaked down. - Shower pipe seems to clog and start pooling water after a single strand of hair finds its way down there. So enjoy your feet sloshing around in the dirty water after washing yourself and leaving a rim around the edge of the shower that you will have to clean regularly. You won't want to complain about it because the staff are absolutely useless. All in all, I would rather live in a hole than this place. I would probably get a better response from talking to brick walls than I do from reception. If you're planning to stay in halls, STAY AWAY from this place as well as you can.

Stayed for 2 nights, rooms hot and airless. Room on floor 10, with only 1 of 3 lifts working. Constant droning noise with windows open. Shower overflowed despite asking to have it looked at. No cooking facilities as they had removed all fuzes? Again had to ask for caretaker to come and replace. Think although the accommodation is cheaper than a hotel for our large group, will think twice, as price was doubled this year.

I hope this helps you before you consider this as your accommodation. At the beginning, fire alarms were off every week, sometimes twice a week even late at night, which scares and is really annoying. There have been problems with the hot water since the beginning. Some people were without it for 3 days. My flat's door was broken for a whole week until they fixed it, allowing anybody to enter into my flat. Also, I bought a topper for my bed because it's really uncomfortable. Also, one of the lifts is broken many times. It has some good things as well but you should have these in mind.

This was the state of my room when I moved in. There was a leaking toilet, STICKY stains on the carpet and what looked like damp on the ceiling of the shower. The toilet was eventually fixed after a week but I had to clean the carpet myself. The stains on the bathroom ceiling have been reported but nothing has been done. Aside from the state of the room the location is very good. Only a 10 minute walk from the town centre and a 15 minute bus ride to Talbot campus. SOME of the staff are very friendly and supportive on reception and have been a great help, there have been the odd times I've felt a little patronised but I haven't felt that recently. This may have been a one off bad experience but I'd say come and look at the flats before you move in so you don't have to go through what I did!

pretty good student accommodation. the location itself is very good and it’s easy to get into town and such. it’s also easy to get back to if you’ve gone out clubbing. only had a few issues while living there but the staff were good like 99% of the time and a lovely bunch of people. they were helpful and polite and had pretty nice conversations with them. they always said good morning to me when i left for work on the weekends. the lifts were constantly broken so was sort of frustrating considering we were on a fairly high up floor and I ended up getting stuck in two of them, one in which we had to be rescued but not a fault on their part really, it’s a fault on the lifts. the only thing i would personally say was negative was the situation about owing them money. i owed them 1p and i’m not exaggerating it was genuinely 1p and one of the staff told me if i didn’t pay it i would get all my wi-fi and such shut up. i wasn’t aware i had to pay it and obviously was more than willing considering money owed is money owed but the threat itself didn’t feel entirely necessary. another issue was the fridge breaking and losing a lot of food which was extremely costly as we had a lot in there. these things happen however it took them quite a while to come fix it, to the point where the food wasn’t salvageable at that point as a lot of it was meat. aside from that, the accommodation was extremely social and by far the most social out of the selection of accommodation. the accommodation itself was also pretty nice.i really enjoyed living there and would genuinely recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in halls of residence.
