Camberwell

Camberwell has a strong UAL presence because Camberwell College of Arts occupies Peckham Road. The neighbourhood contains studios, galleries, cafés, student houses and several university residences.

Town Hall Camberwell gives another UAL option. Shared-bathroom rooms begin at £242 per week, small en-suites at £277 and studios at £374 for 2026/27. Most contracts last 40 weeks, which can lower the full rent despite a higher weekly rate.

The bus to Millbank takes longer than a trip from Vauxhall or Stockwell. Camberwell makes sense for someone who values a creative neighbourhood and can accept the extra travel.

Chelsea and Battersea

Chelsea Lightfoot Hall occupies Manresa Road, the former home of Chelsea School of Art. The location preserves a connection with the college’s history, although the current Millbank campus lies more than two miles away.

Current UAL room prices include bills and basic contents insurance. Private-property inclusions change by contract, so check electricity, heating, water, internet and insurance before accepting the stated rent.

Chapter Westminster

This option suits a budget that can support private cooking facilities and a central location. At £496 over 51 weeks, the full rent would reach £25,296.

Collegiate Dashwood Studios

Dashwood Studios currently starts at around £335 per week and lies approximately 1.3 miles from Chelsea College of Arts.

These prices cover different room categories and should not be placed in the same comparison without checking availability.

The building includes a creative workspace, social room and courtyard. Flats contain four to nine bedrooms.

Brooke Hall

Brooke Hall currently carries the lowest starting price among the nearest eight private listings at about £250 per week.

UAL has several partially funded room schemes for 2026/27, including Hawthorne House, Signal House, Wick Park and both YourTRIBE residences. Applicants must meet the relevant eligibility conditions.

The cheapest weekly rate will not always create the smallest payment. Chelsea Lightfoot Hall’s £225 twin room costs £11,475 over 51 weeks. Town Hall Camberwell’s £242 room costs £9,680 over 40 weeks. The room with the higher weekly rent saves £1,795.

A lower rent also needs enough storage for project materials. A twin room can become difficult when two residents bring large portfolios, equipment and garment bags into the same space.

Walking from Pimlico and Vauxhall
