I had a really positive experience staying here during my time as a student. The location is convenient for getting to uni and nearby shops, and the building feels safe and well maintained. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and have enough space to study and relax, while the shared areas are great for socialising and meeting new people. The staff are friendly and really helpful, and any issues I had were handled in a reasonable time. Like most student accommodation, noise can vary depending on flatmates, but overall it’s a good balance between a social and comfortable place to live. I’d definitely recommend it to students looking for a reliable and well located place to stay.

(READ PHOTO ATTACHED) Staying at the Croft was great. I really enjoyed it as they make a good community and receptionists are top tear. However, I recently moved out and had someone take my place so that I would get my money back. It’s now been over the due date for when I was supposed to receive my refund, I have to say I’m really unhappy with this, as it is a large sum of money and I’m paying rent in a new place, I was told 28 working days and it has now been past that date. They won’t let me speak to anyone bar the receptionists and I’m not sure when I’ll receive my refund. I always payed rent on time and I know if I didn’t there would probably be consequences, so I’m not sure why it doesn’t apply when the shoe is on the other foot????

Honestly, not worth it for the money at all. If you enjoy sleeping, you have a selection of noises to be woken up from. Outside is noisy, often people shouting at all kinds of hours, you can literally hear their conversations sometimes (despite living high up). The walls are paper thin, and often when people close a door in the flat, it slams really loud, sometimes actually shaking your room. People above can be loud, constantly banging or shouting, they’ve literally caused the things on my shelf to shake alongside my bed. For these issues, you can call a number and the student warden will “sort” it out, but it continues night after night. Some kitchens may be clean, but I’ve had several issues with the hygiene and responsibilities have fallen onto me. Despite emailing and asking for advice or help a few times, no help has been delivered as emails have stayed unanswered. To add to this, I had reported the smell of drugs in my flat a few months ago, and once again, reception were of no help. The smell managed to come into my bedroom and made me nauseous and anxious due to the placement I was on. The washing is extremely expensive, over £4 for ONE wash, and nearly £3 for a dry. The common room is often left messy from people staying overnight, elevators have been found a mess with food left in there. Only positive I could give is the window is floor to ceiling. The bathroom is small, it comes with no built in storage apart from a tiny and thin shelf that holds hardly anything. The bathroom taps are also weak. Staying here has been a nightmare, and as you can imagine, I’m very excited to move. My last point is that some reviews may be heavily influenced by incentives such as raffles or giveaways that require leaving a review to enter, this can clearly affect overall rating. I do not recommend. Better of staying at the university halls, atleast they have cleaners for the kitchen and the responsibility doesn’t fall onto one person. It’s also cheaper lol.

Stayed at The Croft for my first year. The room was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The location was convenient, and everything was well organised throughout my stay. Overall, a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Every single night i am woken up by people screaming and shouting in the courtyard, or chatting loudly by the gate, even with my window closed and living on a high floor. it is ridiculous There is no security or staff on site after 5pm or weekends. if you lock yourself out it is 60 quid! washing machines and tumbledryers are super expensive. onsite gym is a joke. Room walls are paper thin and kitchens need an upgrade. my flatmates are clean and tidy but our oven, microwave and toaster are gross and seem to be prehistoric. Reception often closes early so you cant get packages if you have late lectures/work. Currently cant use the common room because some idiots decided to have a water fight so now we are all being punished. I would recommend choosing official derby uni halls as they have cleaners who clean the kitchen once a week, onsite staff at all times so noise complaints are dealt with swiftly and repeat offenders are penalised, if you lock yourself out the RAs will let you in within 5 minutes FOR FREE. the croft is honestly a bit of a joke.

Deposits vary by property and your deposit is placed into a deposit protection scheme, where it is held safely throughout the academic year and will be returned to you at the end of your contract subject to the contract terms. The deposit you pay when making the application cannot be used towards a rent instalment as this is secured with a deposit protection scheme for the duration of your tenancy.
Our full termination policy is within your online account. You can cancel your tenancy agreement for up to 7 days after the date of your booking (the Initial Cancellation Period). We will refund the full security deposit. Please note, £20 will be deducted from the refunded amount to cover any international bank charges for deposit refunds made to non-UK banks. If you wish to cancel your tenancy agreement after the initial cancellation period or after your tenancy has started, you will be responsible for paying the rent and any applicable fees for the full tenancy period. However, if you find a replacement tenant who is approved by the landlord and has paid both the deposit and rent, your liability will be limited to the time until the replacement tenant takes over payment. The tenancy termination will only be confirmed once the replacement tenant has completed these payments. If a replacement tenant is found, there will be a £50 fee for updating the contract, which you’ll need to pay within 14 days or it will be taken from your deposit. Once the new tenancy begins, the landlord will release you from your tenancy agreement.
