Plato's Loft — Wilmington, NC 1 / 5 stars Save your money — there are far better options in Wilmington After living at Plato's Loft, I feel obligated to share an honest account of my experience so that prospective residents can make an informed decision. Unit condition and maintenance: From move-in, our apartment had unresolved issues that were never adequately addressed. The vinyl flooring was lifting so severely that it caught on socks and created a tripping hazard. The overall finish quality of the units bears little resemblance to the photos advertised on the website — evidence of a rushed renovation is apparent throughout, including mismatched paint colors, paint overspray on the flooring and cabinetry in both the kitchen and bathroom. Noise and location: The walls are extremely thin. Being situated directly on Randall Parkway means residents are subjected to emergency vehicle sirens throughout the night with no meaningful sound buffer. Safety and security: The parking lot has no camera coverage, which appears to be a contributing factor to the volume of property crime I witnessed — car break-ins were a regular occurrence, and numerous residents had bicycles stolen, including complete bikes and accessories. Ironically, management prohibits bringing bicycles indoors, leaving residents with no secure storage alternative. Management and communication: The leasing office is frequently inaccessible during posted hours, phone lines are unreliable, and the resident portal does not function properly — making it nearly impossible to submit maintenance requests through official channels. Additionally, during a unit inspection, personal belongings were removed without prior notice or any request for residents to do so, which I found deeply inappropriate. Amenities: As warmer months approach, the pool is in a noticeably unsanitary condition and is not something I would feel comfortable using. One genuine highlight: The maintenance team deserves recognition — they are consistently kind, professional, and understanding. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for other staff members, including certain RAs, whose conduct has been dismissive and unprofessional. Compared to other communities I have lived in within Wilmington, Plato's Loft falls significantly short in value, quality, and management responsiveness. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to explore other options in the area first.

So far, my experience has been absolutely wonderful. From the staff to my roommates, everyone has been such a positive contribution to me and my well-being. Ellen in the front office is an absolute joy to work with. I look forward to my 2 year long lease. You are the best!

I lived at the Lofts for about 2.5 years, management changed twice but the new management is absolutely terrible. Lets start with the living, the walls are extremely thin, its located on Randall pkwy which is always busy so you constantly are hearing noises from traffic and construction which will disrupt your sleep almost daily. The parking lot will flood after any level of rain. the stair cases feel like they're going to give out at any second. The monthly cost is extremely high for what you get. The mattress that they provide may be a reused mattress from the old tenant so if you still plan on living there make sure you verify its not. Speaking of the mattress its probably the worst mattress you'll sleep on, I slept on the same mattress for 2.5 years and there was very slight wear and tear from... sleeping on it for 2.5 years and they charged me $250 when I finished my lease because "they have to replace the mattress now". When I contacted the office to dispute it they stopped responding to me, after stupidly spending over $10000 of rent there and keeping the shape of my room in excellent condition. Not to mention its also placed in an extremely awkward location which makes it a pain to get too especially during high traffic times. There have been multiple crime reports that took place at the lofts. Management doesn't keep the pool clean often. Good luck having friends over, its extremely hard finding available visitor spots. Im giving them a one star because the only good thing I can think of is its close to campus but there are plenty of respectable places near campus. Reconsider a different place to live if Plato's Lofts at Randall is where you are considering spending thousands of dollars on. You will quickly regret your decision.

The move in experience was very easy, no hassle at all. Very friendly atmosphere. It's a very quite community for being student housing which I enjoy. Plus, you get your own bedroom and own bathroom, who can complain about that. I just wish there was an easier way to get into the community from campus, always having to make a u-turn or go the long way around is a bit of an issue.

Plato’s Lofts is one of the most peaceful properties in Wilmington North, the staff are very family oriented, dedicated and passionate to renovating and innovating the living experience for those in transition of college to work life in Wilmington North Carolina, this property has personified the definition of what it feels be at home. Property Manger and the Maintenance teams work very hard to make this the best apartment complex to live in while pursuing education and life goals.
