Launch Apartments, west-lafayette-in

Living at Launch Apartments has been a major disappointment. First, management increased the rent while providing less quality, which already felt unfair. But what’s worse is the current state of the property, for days it has looked like a dump, with no real upkeep or care. On top of that, maintenance is a complete joke. I’ve submitted several requests because things don’t work properly. Each time, someone shows up, takes a look, and leaves without fixing anything. Nothing gets resolved. This place charges like a premium complex but delivers the experience of a neglected property. If you value cleanliness, accountability, and basic maintenance, look elsewhere.

This place is a nightmare. When my girlfriend moved in, there was numerous issues they were in the process of fixing. Her bedroom closet doors were broken and hanging off of the track, the toilet was constantly leaking / flushing by itself and wasn’t even truly secured to the floor, lots of painting yet to be completed, mold issues, and an ant infestation due to multiple holes in the walls to the point that you could see sunlight. We tried contacting maintenance on multiple occasions for them to come out and fix issues months later. She’s moving out soon and there’s still issues needing to be fixed. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The kitchen window doesn’t fully close. No central Ac so it’s unbearable to live here in the summer. Seriously tour this place before you even think about applying!

Never ever ever sign here, the worst place ever genuinely. Management is trash and won’t let you off lease even if any issues arise especially even after they violated the contract. Bugs everywhere, living condition = hell. If u expect a good place where u can actually survive, this isn’t the place for you at all. Just pay a little more for actual livable conditions please.

Do NOT live here. The management is incompetent, maintenance is a joke, and the living conditions are completely unacceptable. I had issues from day one, and it only got worse. From giant silverfish, gnats, and spiders to brown water and constant plumbing issues, this place was disgusting. Maintenance frequently marked requests as “complete” without fixing anything, even when the problem was urgent. I had a detailed move-in checklist to protect myself. One major issue was a hallway flood caused by a leaking AC unit while I was asleep (pictured below). When I reported it on a Sunday, I was told maintenance doesn’t work weekends, even for emergencies. The emergency number listed on their website was inactive. The next day, no one showed up despite multiple follow-ups. Only after my dad threatened legal action did anyone come, and it wasn’t even Launch staff, it was an outside contractor. He screwed the ceiling shut and said Launch would return to caulk it. They never did. I had to submit another request six months later to get it finished. The outside building door was broken multiple times. It literally fell off the hinges and was left wide open for weeks during winter, making the whole building cold and completely unsafe. These doors don’t even lock, so anyone could walk in at any time. The package room was constantly broken, and packages were often left in the wrong spots. They also changed the laundry system halfway through the lease. At the move-in, we were given laundry cards with preloaded funds. Then new machines were installed that required an app, and the old cards became useless. The new system forces you to preload more money than you need to use the machine, meaning you lose money. One day I went to do laundry and found that all the dryer lint screens were missing from my building. I was told they had known about it for several days and had done nothing. This is a fire hazard. I had to borrow a screen from another building just to dry my clothes. The worst experience was in my roommate’s bathroom. Maintenance entered without warning for a plumbing issue caused by a different unit. They left dirt and rocks all over the bathroom, (pictured below), used our personal towels to clean up dirty water, then threw them on our couch. They also threw a wet toilet paper roll on a pile of my string lights. It took multiple calls, emails, and another legal threat just to get them to clean the mess and fix the hole they left in the ceiling. The towels were never reimbursed as promised. To top it off, they left our apartment door unlocked and wide open while we weren’t home. Thankfully nothing was stolen, but if we had any pets they could have easily escaped. (Launch would frequently text residents about missing pets, so beware living here if you are a pet owner). The property manager is extremely difficult to reach and clearly avoids taking responsibility. The front office staff was nice and tried to help, but they were powerless without support from management or maintenance. This was a truly terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend Launch to anyone. The health and safety concerns are serious, and the lack of accountability from management is unacceptable. My pictures showcase most of what I am talking about.

Good place, good location. I requested a transfer from a 2B to a 1B unit. They offered me several options. Although there were some initial unhappiness, the issue was resolved perfectly. I like the new unit very much. Special thanks to the manager. Thanks also to all the Launch staff.
