The Crimson, tuscaloosa-al

I love it here! Very spacious bed and bathroom’s and I mean who doesn’t love a walk-in closet. The staff is so welcoming and always has fun activities (like build your own bouquet of flowers.) for residents to do in the lobby. The maintenance is very timely and respectful of your space. Only thing I can complain about is the wifi, but that’s honestly out of their control. If your looking for student housing I definitely recommend!!

Edit 1/21/26- i was just sent to the collection agency for these charges and just paid an unexplainable $160. While im not here to keep complaining to try and earn any reimbursement, i hope to maybe convince people to not lease here. It just comes to show how unethical and unprofessional the management is here. If you are an employee with morals and pride, please do not work here and find another job. Origional review- absolute scam. I paid $400+ for early move in to be greeted with a dirty apartment and a water heater that did not work for one month. It was so dirty to the point where we had a cleaning crew come in after the fact we pointed it out before we started unpacking furniture, and even then they didn't clean everything that we asked. So we had to clean out the expired food that was left behind in the refridgerator. Wifi was slow, and there was a cockroach infestation during my stay. And just as I moved out and thought it was over, I get a statement saying I owe ~$250 for damages that I took photos of on the inspection sheet. And they are still trying to charge me fees for garbage that was there before I got here, and for keys THAT ARE TURNED IN . I dont understand how any employee takes pride in working for a apartment community that is desperately trying to scam college students by posting bogus move-out charges. I am now at a way better apartment where not only is it way cleaner, but service is way faster. For example, I recently filled out a low priority work order for a faulty microwave which only took one our, versus where at the crimson it takes a WHOLE MONTH to fix a HIGH PRIORITY order such as the water heater not working. Avoid This Complex – Unfair Charges and Poor Management I would strongly advise against moving into this apartment complex, especially if you're a college student or a parent looking for housing for your student. My roommates and I moved in on August 18th, 2024, only to find that the unit had not been cleaned or prepared in any way. The carpets were stained, the floors were dirty, and even the mattresses were unclean — far from move-in ready. Despite this, my roommate and I made sure to deep clean the apartment before moving out so that the next tenants wouldn’t have to deal with the same experience. A month after moving out, we were hit with a final bill full of excessive and unjustified charges. For example, I was charged $575 for a carpet cleaning/replacement fee, despite having photographic evidence that the stains were present at move-in. In contrast, the complex provided a photo of a wall as “evidence” — NOT EVEN the carpet in question. When I disputed the charge with clear move-in documentation, my claim was still denied. I was also charged for a “bathroom cabinet cleaning fee,” even though the image they submitted was of the drawer I had thoroughly cleaned. It’s clear these fees are arbitrarily assigned and not backed by legitimate proof. It’s incredibly frustrating to feel taken advantage of. Unfortunately, my experience is not unique, and it seems this complex targets students who may not have the time or resources to fight back effectively. Please do your research before signing a lease here. There are plenty of other housing options in Tuscaloosa at similar price points that won’t treat you this way. Save yourself the stress and financial burden — I truly wish I had.

At the time of this review, I have lived here for about nine months or so. The staff are nice and helpful, and events are hosted often and they are fun. This complex SHOULD be five stars...however, there is one glaring issue that makes this place hard to recommend, and that is the internet. It is a miracle if it does not go out at least once a day, and outages can last from a few minutes to hours, and there is rarely communication on when it gets fixed. As a complex that is leased mainly by college students, the fact that the internet is so unreliable is surprising. I have had to upgrade my phone plan just so I can use my hotspot when the internet goes down. I have considered not extending my lease solely due to this, which should show how poor it is. An outage periodically is expected, but the fact that it is so often is what makes it an issue, inconvenience, and simply another thing to worry about as a student. Despite the poor internet, the staff and amenities (gym, pool, basketball courts, etc) have still made living here a generally good experience. Again, I would rate this five stars if the internet improves even slightly.

Please fix the wifi. Other than that it is a decent apartment complex to live in but for you to advertise “student housing”, the wifi needs to be working. We have homework and tests we need to be able to do and having to rely on the hotspot is not a viable option. They keep saying it’s on Xfinity but nothing ever changes and it’s been choppy for the past 1.5-2 years. Once that issue is fixed, this can be a 5 star review.
