East Edge, tuscaloosa-al

East edge was a wonderful experience. I went in for a tour because I am going to Alabama for the fall. I had a Jasmine showing me for the tour and she was very nice. Im definitely thinking about signing here everyone was very nice.

My son moved in today, August 2024. The complex seems to be changing management companies. I’m hopeful the new company is able to clean and maintain the apartments better than the way many have found their kids places this summer. My son is in a renovated, 4BR, 4BA apartment with a balcony. The renovations are pretty nice overall and the apartment is spacious! Good bones. It’s an older complex so there are some issues—light is missing in laundry room, disgusting filters (that one boy went and changed himself because it was so nasty), weird touch up paint, poor cleaning of kitchen and bathroom. But overall, the place has such potential so I’m hoping the new management can really invest money in fixing issues and keeping maintenance up. Parking is fine so far and the building feels solidly built to me.

I moved into a renovated unit on scholarship during my sophomore year. Everything was clean and well cared for, and the staff are attentive, kind, and available at most hours. Doors in the complex have automatic electronic locks, so I never worried about safety.

I have lived here for 2.5 years and have had very minimal complaints. I technically am leased through the university but the front office has always been extremely responsive to my maintenance requests and courteous. There has only been one instance where the parking lot was full and I often park at night. I never encounter noise from neighbors and my apartment has held up quite nicely, and we have reliable appliances. The AC used to break often but maintenance put in a long-term fix which has helped. It has also been very safe (only one instance of break-ins I can recall). The only major cons are there is mild mold growth in the bathroom (everywhere in Tuscaloosa has it and it goes away if you clean properly) and the train noise, but we all get used to it. I would highly recommend living here especially if you are on scholarship.

I have enjoyed my two years at East Edge. It is a very resident focused community with biweekly resident events that always include food. I haven’t had a bad experience with any of the staff either, whether it be maintenance or leasing. They’re always nice and ready to help with any questions or concerns I have had.
