I’ve been living at Alight West Tenn since Fall 2023. The apartments themselves are spacious, and I’ve enjoyed the amount of space in the bedrooms, kitchen, and living room. However, most of my issues have come from management, maintenance, and especially billing. One of the main reasons I originally moved here was because utilities were included in the rent. About a year later, utilities were separated from the rent, and the property later switched utility providers. Since then, the utility billing process has been confusing and inconsistent. It has been difficult to get a clear explanation of exactly how monthly charges are calculated based on energy consumption, and I’ve received unexpected charges that did not line up with what I had previously been paying or what I understood from management. There have also been several other issues with management and maintenance during my time here. The apartment itself is nice on the inside, but it’s difficult to fully enjoy living here when you don’t know what to expect on your monthly account or when the information you receive from management isn’t always consistent. Overall, I personally would not choose to live here again. The apartments have some positives, especially the space, but the billing and management issues have outweighed those positives for me. If you’re a student looking for housing in Tallahassee and have limited options, it may still be worth considering, but I would strongly recommend asking detailed questions about utilities, fees, and billing before signing a lease.

Do not move here they advertise a payment of 499 a month however they don’t let you know that utilities can be almost $400 itself making your rent almost $800 $900 Even if you’re in the apartment by yourself, I recommend finding somewhere where you utilities are included or it’s a set price on utilities because they will get their moneys worth. I also watched them do a landlord special and just pay over all of the baseboards instead of cleaning them painting the doors they try to paint over mold. This isn’t the place to be . They don’t offer payment plans. The Wi-Fi is not that good for it to be included in rent . This place is just not what they advertise

10 – DO NOT RECOMMEND. In my experience, Alight West Tenn takes advantage of college students. Management is terrible—especially Michelle. They rarely answer the phone, don’t return voicemails, and ignore emails, making it almost impossible to get issues resolved. The property is bug-prone, with spider webs constantly in the stairwells, and maintenance charges you for every little thing—even for damage you didn’t cause. The biggest issue I had was with utilities. I was repeatedly charged what I believe were incorrect utility amounts. After I provided documentation from the City of Tallahassee, I felt like I was given the runaround for months. I paid over $1,000 in utilities, and it took about six months to receive only $100 in credit. To this day, I’m still waiting for the rest of the credit I believe I’m owed. Every time I call, no one answers or I’m told someone will call me back—and they never do. Save yourself the stress and lease somewhere else. Based on my experience, I would not recommend living here.

They are more worried about adding random fees, Pool wristbands, enforcing parking passes then fixing the actual problems with alight. It has the foundation to be a great complex but the managers/ owners seem money driven verses community oriented. Gate problems, dog sh!t everywhere, NOT ENOUGH TRASH CANS, Pest problems, broken amenities at the pool and in the gym they continue to advertise. Yet wonder why communities events don’t pop off. TENANTS DONT WANT TO CONNECT WITH PPL THAT ARE RIPPING THEM OFF. Which is why most ppl only show up for the food and leave.They now are forcing visitors have to pay to park in a visitors parking space, giving the residents no say in this matter. IVE NEVER HEARD OF AN APARTMENT MAKE GUEST PAY A PARKING FEE AS IF THEY ARE A RETAIL BUSINESS. If guests refuse to pay they get towed.They charge us all these fees to fix up the property? Yet units go uncleaned, Maintenance issues Unchecked, old furniture and 1 dumpster for the entirety of 13 buildings. But yet wanna charge trash fees pls. If alight cared more about the students it was ripping off then the money they was getting. This would probably a way better place to live and tenants would probably treat like so. But everyone sees that the management only cares about money. Fee Fee Fee. If you live here you will hear and see that word a lot. The promise of affordable housing feels like a scams once they add up all these “Fees” STAY FAR UNTIL THEY GET IT TOGETHER

I moved into my new apartment about a week ago, and while my initial move-in experience wasn’t the best, I really appreciate how the staff handled the situation. The first apartment I was placed in was dirty, had a strong smell of weed, and unfortunately wasn’t in the condition I expected. After speaking with the staff about my concerns, they were very understanding and worked quickly to make things right. I especially want to thank Dom for personally working with me and making sure my friend and I were able to relocate to a new building that same day. She made what started as a stressful move-in experience much smoother and made sure we were taken care of. Thank you again to Dom and the rest of the staff for listening to our concerns, acting quickly, and turning the situation around. I really appreciate the effort and customer service!
