As you can see, all the good reviews are from years ago. As a current resident, the best thing about the place is the maintenance team. They are responsive, helpful, and go above and beyond for the residents. My major problem is the management team; it really shows they don't care about their residents by the way they give the corporate workaround for every problem. Additionally, management (Zuly, and Zach) isn't here to be your friend or be helpful; it seems like they want to cash their checks. They rely on their maintenance team to keep residents happy, and even then, we just lost a maintenance man known for his friendliness and hard work. I heard rumors that they are trying to make this place strictly college student-only, and I now see that this rumor is true since they are trying to make former older residents leave by unfairly increasing their rent. As a company whose slogan revolves around community, they sure aren't friendly to everyone. As a current student, I don't think you should lease an apartment here, as mentioned earlier, management doesn't care. I had mold problems in my apartment, and they offered to "spray the mold away". I asked them to please test my apartment for mold since I was getting sick, and they told me to pay for it myself. I would also like to point out my unit came so uncleaned that when I mopped the floors for the first time the water was a dark color. I cannot wait for my lease to be over and get the hell out of here.

We’ve been living at Social Amherst for 9 months now and are very happy with our apartment. Far enough out but close to everything. The office manager Zuleyka and Morgan were very friendly and helpful at move in. Chris the new maintenance manager came and buttoned up a couple very small things but overall it’s been great living here.

The Social Amherst is a lovely, quiet place to live. I've been here for 1 1/2 years and intend to stay long term. Matt, Mel, and Phoenix are the core on-site staff, all of whom positively impact the community. Matt will handle any and all issues/concerns that arise, swiftly and with elegance. Mel is fundamental to maintenance, leading the charge to fix anything that breaks (Also dogs love her). Phoenix will save you from that random emergency maintenance issue, as well as general assistance. All three core staff are essential to why this community is a good place to live. I am excited for the recent increase in additions to the community, such as a new dog park and upcoming gym. There is also a free printer on-site for the community to use during office hours. Snow removal is fantastic, with the hard-working crew out there keeping paths clear even during the storm! A laundry facility is located on-site, but there's also a laundromat just around the corner. Overall a fantastic location.

I lived here for around 2 years. I like this apartment a lot. It is quiet and the environment is very nice. There are lots of green grass and new facilities (amazon hubs, grills, and swings). Nice small market place and restaurant (frontier pizza, subway) in walking distance. Also, transportation to UMass Amherst is very convenient. The bus stop is only 3-5 mins walk away. I used the bus APP so I can wait until last minutes and walk from home to bus stop. Staffs are very nice. Maintenance is helpful. They helped us reinstall a new refrigerator and small fixings like lighting. Also, big thanks to Matt for helping out with parking and taking care of it. The downside is that the townhouse itself isn't brand new, but they might be upgrading these years. I would suggest this apartment to my friend if they ask about looking for housing around the area.

The social itself is a nice place to live with easy access to the laundromat, convenience store, liquor store, etc. It’s also nice having the bus stop right there. When we moved here Matt and Phoenix were in charge and they were always very responsive and helpful. However since Zuli has taken over the office is hardly open, they’re hard to get in contact with, and I’ve heard concerning things about her trying to force out a single mom and local business owner who’s lived in the community for decades. I think they’re trying to make the community a place for young college students but they shouldn’t be harassing long time residents to do this. I hope they come to their senses and let the community be a place for everyone edit: I’ve heard that our neighbor’s been continually harassed. If they’re trying to kick her out just for having a kid that’s illegal housing discrimination. They’ve offered new residents gift cards when moving in in exchange for a five star review (also illegal). I can’t imagine what’s compelling them to harass this mom and her daughter, both of whom are very kind and involved members of our community. Also a note was mailed saying derogatory things about them and not only did the office not denounce it, they allegedly sent out a message that it wasn’t them who sent the letters before the letters were received. overall I can’t suggest living here and supporting the current management. shame on you
