Let me just say I do not review often, but this felt very much needed. This is my first college apartment, and let me say that I am not happy. We toured the apartment last November, and we were told that we were getting the upgraded apartments only, no option for ones that are not updated. Come to find out move in day that we got stuck with the apartment that is partially upgraded, when were pulling the full price per month of an upgraded apartment. We were completely misguided during our tour and something should've been said to us that all apartments were not going to be updated. i don't think we should be paying the rent that we are now, because our apartment still isn't fully upgraded. The first day we moved in August 23rd 2024 , our dishwasher fell out of the wall, the laundry room door was off the hinges, there is black dust mold all over our ceilings in the apartment, white paint spots all over the furniture in our living room and bedrooms from them painting and just not caring about the furniture. Our outside light was not working, there is excessive amounts of bird poop everywhere and it is absolutely disgusting. It feels like you are walking in bird poop, it needs to be power washed and it still hasn't been yet. There is condensation in our windows which we can do nothing about so we can not see outside our windows which is really upsetting, we had holes in multiple screens. There was mold in my side of the shower tiles all over, submitted a maintenance request, for them to come a week later but my lovely mom already cleaned up the mold, because I will not live in mold. The fact that management lets residents live in these conditions is ridiculous. There was also mold in our vent in our bathroom which needed changed, the apartment had no shower curtains rod so we went out and bought our own, then maintenance came a week later with shower curtain rods, what we're we supposed to do not shower for a week I want to be reimbursed for those. The mirror is all cracked around the edges in my bathroom and my closet drawer in my bedroom just falls off the track. Countertops in the kitchen are not updated. This apartment wasn't cleaned either for us when we moved in. We haven't been able to swim in the pool either because it's the greenest color I have ever seen, and do not feel safe swimming in that, when I would've loved to use it, and the hot tub is closed, unsure why. Absolutely ridiculous and would not recommend living here. We have had so many issues that we should have not had to worry about. We also found black mold behind our wash and dryer, CRAZY The amount of mold we are finding is crazy because that causes so many health issues and is a big health hazard Unbelievable. We also had our furnace filter get checked because the date says it hasn't been changed since November of 2022. Again, we should have not had this many issues, EVER Ridiculous I am not happy with this place and would like a serious discount. Again, would not recommend this place to anyone. I will attach photos of the place we toured and what we got, absolutely unbelievable.

My son has been living at Tremont for the past 3 years. When we first came to see the facility we had a nice tour and decided that was the place for him. He is on the quiet side and needs to study and we found the facility good with the noise level. The apartment was in ok shape upon move in. I do think it could have been a little cleaner and a new toilet seat put on, (this is why 4 stars, not 5). However, that was when it was under different management. His 3 years at Tremont, he easily got to campus with his Cata bus pass provided by Tremont. He has had no issues with noise, etc. When a problem did occur with an appliance and he put in a work order, they immediately came to check and fix what was needed. The one area as a parent that made me feel great was the safety of Tremont. It is well lit and a safe environment.

As someone who's stayed here for 3 years, I can say the management has gotten absolutely terrible. The beginning was fine (you get what you pay for), but with their rising rent prices, it's not worth it. They've started changing staff so regularly, communication with them is horrendous. I'll tell one office manager something, and when I go to check in on any updates, I find out that person had left and I need to restart the whole process with someone else, so nothing actually gets done--just a constant cycle of "I'll get back to you". They'll upcharge you more than what you signed your lease for, and give no explanation of why. I've gone to them multiple times about this issue, but no response and I'm just expected to pay because they'll fine me EVEN MORE if it's late.

I have been living at Tremont for 18 months. Within this time, I have written many bad reviews about the frequently changing, poorly managed staffs. For the last few months, I have had numerous problems with the staff properly handling a rent check my bank mails monthly. In the middle of June, I noticed late fees being added to my account for late rent AGAIN. I contacted Tremont livid. With the old staff, I constantly had to argue for mistakes to be fixed. To my surprise, there was an entirely new staff running the office when I called. Immediately, they removed the late fees, accepted a new (now late) check, and apologized for any misunderstandings that occurred as they took over from the old staff. In addition to adjusting my charges, they reviewed my lease renewal to ensure it was accurate. Expectedly, the old staff made numerous mistakes with it. The new staff noticed the mistakes, openly explained the mistakes to me, and provided clear instructions for correcting everything to how I want. The new staff was eager to resolve my issue, and even went above and beyond to confirm my lease renewal details. The new staff and management is a recent, tremendous improvement to Tremont. In addition to great employees, Tremont is the best place to live for your money. I pay a low rate for my own bedroom and bathroom. I share a laundry room, kitchen, living room, and balcony with one roommate. Tremont has a gym, computer room, printer, lounge, pool, hot tub, volleyball court, basketball court, and tennis court (all included with rent). There are plenty of free parking spots, and numerous spots for free guest parking. The bus stop is a 3-4 minute walk, and the bus schedule is convenient; a bus pass is included with rent. Tremont also locks packages in a locker accessible 24/7 to you ONLY; I really like this because I do not want my package to sit outside all day. Tremont is pet friendly, and provide numerous pet clean-up stations outside. I highly recommend Tremont as a quiet, peaceful, affordable living location to any Penn State student.

Have you ever had a toxic relationship? Living at Tremont is pretty much the same experience. The pictures look great, the apartment tour soothes all those fears, hey they even give you a snack and goodies. That’s phase 1 remember? All the gifts and compliments make you feel sooo good and the reviews make them look phenomenal, I should know after all I rented here after reading the reviews. You may have heard words like these before, promises that the apartment will be clean and charges will not be made against the tenants for things that were there before move-in. If you’ve never been attempted to be gaslighted or manipulated then I’d say trusting Tremont would be a good place to start. I won’t go into the gory details of my apartment, but we had more things alive in our apartment than those who paid rent. My room in particular had smoke stains all over the walls and furniture, my asthma went from mild to severe in 2 months of living there. Maintenance wasn’t unreliable, but it did take several of the same requests to be made on top of labeling the requests as ‘emergency’ for anything to be taken seriously by Tremont. So imagine waiting for something like mold everywhere in your apartment to be taken care of and you see Tremont posting about a taco station in the office and people posting reviews about how Tremont cares sooo much about them. Honestly, I wouldn’t have made a review at all, but the final straw was being slapped with a nearly $1k in damages and then proceeding to be ignored for almost 3 weeks. Tremont claims that we have multiple damages to the apartments, tons of trash left behind, and clean so much of the apartment because of how it was left. You can see for yourself in the photos I have attached all the damages. Words of advice? Take a really good look at your apartment when you move in, and document everything (pictures, video, etc.). From experience though, they could still charge you up to one month's rent as damages, my friends and I have roughly $1k in damages. Pretty rough for a place with such good reviews right? Take all those reviews with a grain of salt. As someone who also took part in them pretty much all the positive reviews had an incentivized motive. (giveaways, prizes, etc.). I wish you luck…..seriously, you’ll need it. And a ton of bleach, but don’t mix chemicals!
