They take advantage of students. When you move out, expect to be charged for everything, even things you reported on the move-in sheet. We got charged for a piece of hair on the floor and a bad paint job that was there before us. Our unit smelled of smoke when we moved in and was not properly addressed. If you leave for the weekend expect there to be mold growing in the toilet. Another thing is parking is insanely overpriced $60 each semester for there to not even be enough parking or a plowed parking lot. The stairways, hallways, and lights are in terrible shape. The light outside our door was out the entire time we lived there and when you would get home you couldn’t even see the door to unlock it. Another downside is when you have guests, you have to drive to another location to pick up a parking pass, and they only give them out the day of. It’s a total inconvenience especially when some of us don’t have car's all the time.

I moved in August 2023 with people who had already lived at Stonecrest for a year, so I had to sign an as-is lease. The problem is, when I moved in my room was damaged and I was not offered a damage report packet because of the as-is lease. When I questioned this I was told I would be responsible for the damages the prior tenant had left since they didn’t do an inspection of the apartment when they left since my roommates resigned. There was paint and carpet damage in my room that I now have to pay for. Also, when I moved in my room was filthy with dead bugs, stuff left over from the prior tenant, dust, and cobwebs. I understand they offer cleaning for the first 24 hours when you move in, but by then my family and I had already cleaned the place, because why would I move my clean bedding and clothes into a dirty room? Maintenance was absolutely awful there, despite them being rather friendly. They walked in at odd hours with no more than a quick knock at the door. They even came in once when I was asleep and wasn’t able to answer their knock, which thank God I sleep with clothes on. In addition, on maintenance requests there’s an option for maintenance to only be allowed to show up if residents are present. I always click this option. Maintenance showed up multiple times without myself or my roommates present, and when I questioned this with management, I was told they can come as they please because they have a key. They also claim they fix stuff we reported damaged, only for it to never be fixed. Our freezer seal broke, and maintenance man came and “fixed it” without any glue or tape, only for it to break again. We also complained about our door being improperly sealed and being able to feel wind gusts, and despite being told it was fixed, it never was and ice formed. When I returned home from winter break, I discovered there was a floor to ceiling crack in one of the walls. I requested maintenance to come, which they did, and I was told it was due to “unaddressed water damage”. The funny thing is, when I moved in August 2023, there was water damage on that same wall that I reported the day of move-in. After move-in a maintenance man came to see the initial damage, and I was told not to worry because it was dry. Clearly I was misinformed. Management was incredibly rude half of the time, and never wanted to answer questions other than with the phrase “it’s in the lease”. College students living on their own for the first time are going to have questions about their lease and apartment from time to time, an actual answer to my questions would’ve been nice. If my questions were answered, they were often answered passive aggressively, which made me incredibly uncomfortable in asking future questions. Parking was also a huge issue this year. There weren’t enough spaces for residents in the quads, so half the time when I came back late from work I had to park in the lower level lot. I am paying $120 for the year in parking, I should have access to a spot in front of my apartment when I come back from work and not have to walk from the lower level. Also, when I had guests over this year, I had to get them parking passes for south rock, which is an inconvenience having to drive there to pick them up and drop them off when they came over. Beware of spiders and stink bugs. For some reason my apartment was absolutely INFESTED with both. I had spiders in my clothes, and I had stink bugs in my book-bag. Maintenance also doesn’t do spraying of anything other than for carpenter bees and ants. As someone terrified of spiders, I hated going home to my apartment since I had to constantly be in fear of where I stepped or put my hand. Overall, my living experience was horrible. Just take a simple look at google ratings for local apartment complexes. The Grove has 4.5 stars, the Heights has 4 stars…Stonecrest has 3.1 stars. This place is nothing but a money scam, no matter what management will tell you. As a result, I moved out recently to another complex, and let me tell you, it’s already way better.

My roommates and I have lived at South Rock for 2 years now and absolutely love it. Our apartment is nice and spacious and we love having the balcony, which a lot of apartments in the area do not have! The fact that the apartment comes fully furnished made it such an easy move, which we all appreciated! We live at Old South Rock, which is right across from campus. This is a great option if you would like to walk to class in a short amount of time. The management staff are very nice, and they even go out of their way to supply the residents with free breakfast Friday, holiday treats/activities, interactive prizes on social media, and more! If you ever have an issue with your apartment, the maintenance staff is very quick to respond and are very friendly throughout the process. We made such a good decision to live here at South Rock and will miss it when we graduate!

This is my second year living at Stone Crest Apartments. Chelsea and all the ladies in the office are very sweet and made it so easy to do the lease each year. Two years ago, I was in desperate need of a place off campus because the rock apartments got filled so fast on campus and we didn’t have four roommates at the time. Every place I kept getting turned down because I have a Boxer breed dog. They gave me no issues with having my pet and I like that they don’t discriminate against breeds of dogs you can have at the apartments like other places do in slippery rock. The apartment was so clean when we moved in and it’s updated apartments without being overly expensive. We only pay for electric and there is a cap on everything else cable and internet are provided and there is a washer in dryer in the apartment! Each year the ladies in the office hold events like free breakfast Fridays and chances to win prizes! Any time we have a maintenance issue they respond quickly, even replaced the shower head in my roommate bathroom when we first moved in. Just call between normal business hours for Maintence request or make it online it’s so easy. Also, rent you can pay online, which I like because I just log in before the last of the month and pay it, but it nice you can upload as much money as you want. Parking is never a problem as they have parking passes. I wish they had guest passes for family members that need to drop stuff off but they can park near by the apartments because there is parking. I tell all my friends about living here and how much I enjoy it and I even have had friends move in that love it here. When I resigned they even cut a little off rent which is amazing!!

Horrible horrible experience. Had CONSTANT problems with heating and cooling systems especially over the winter. Called maintenance MULTIPLE times to help and nothing was ever fixed. Got so bad we ended up paying between $300-$500 each month for electric over the winter and nobody could tell us what was wrong and why the bill was so high when we weren’t doing anything different than previous months. Save your money and live somewhere else!!!!
