I’ve lived here for about six months so far and all I’ve had was issues of Internet connection and the TV that proceeds to not work every week. Rest of the staff people are nice. They are just not informed with certain questions that you ask so take a while to get an answer. I was also supposed to receive a $500 gift card signing bonus when I signed my lease and still haven’t received it same as well of a $50 gift card for every roommate in my unit because we did their promotion to win a gift card if our unit was picked to be on the site. Which it is on apartments.com and still wasn’t told anything or has received any money . Otherwise beautiful unit a great location if you want something upscale this is the place to be. The only downside is with my experience. I don’t think the amount that you’re paying is what you’re getting, $1740 is ridiculous for not having Internet that is already included.

Living at the Chorro has been very convenient and pleasurable during this last year. Although the rent is high, the amenaties offered, especially the gym, are very much worth the cost. The rooms are spacious compared to other comparable apartments. Its prime location has every need within walking distance and the bus stop is a 5 minute walk away.

Lived here for a year, it's not the cheapest but great place to live. The only weird thing is the frosted glass doors between each pair of rooms that let sound through, so it's best to be courteous of your flatmates.

The Academy Chorro markets themselves as "comfortable, convenient, and classy" student housing. While the complex is private and clean, the quality of the walls, paint, and furniture is average. DO NOT put tape/command strips/pins on the walls; there is only one thin coat of paint on the walls that easily peels off. Damaging paint on the walls will cost you $100 per wall that is damaged. The walls are also incredibly thin. The furniture is average-quality and uncomfortable. The units are cramped, and poorly designed. In my case, the front door would block the entrance to the kitchen when open. The corner units of the hallway are designed with three outward-opening doors facing each other, making it impossible to open more than one at a time without them bumping into each other. There is also no free parking on-site; all spots must be purchased. There are some good things! The patio area and roof lounge are a very nice places to socialize with your friends. The study rooms are comfortable and fairly insulated. The lobby has a pool table, overhead speakers and a tv, making it a nice (but not private) place to socialize. The gym is well-equipped. Most of the staff is very nice and accommodating; however, they have a very poor customer service system. If you have a complaint about the charges you receive on move out (and believe, they will charge you) be prepared to be ignored. Units also come fully furnished, with a TV. That all being said, I do not believe these features justify charging students $1350-1550 a month. Mustang Village also has a gym, study rooms, and similar quality units and furniture for $1000-$1200 a month. If don't mind paying a premium price for slightly above-average student housing, go ahead. Personally, I feel that The Academy Chorro is over-priced.

Terrible living experience while there. They are disgusting scam artists who look to squeeze you dry of every last penny that they can. I entered with a roommate group of two and we were put into an apartment with people who had lived there the previous year. The Academy Chorro had not cleaned or repaired any of the damage caused by the previous group and I essentially moved into a pig stye that was littered with the previous groups damages and trash. Then at the end of the year after I had moved out they charged me for all those damages and cleaning fees that I didn't cause. Here is just one example: we were charged a total of $1200 to repaint the living room despite only small scratches to the paint AND myself not causing any of it. They have done this to other groups as well since I have talked with past residents. I doubt that they intend to actually fix the damages and instead will just charge the next group for the same damages to make a quick buck. While I lived there the staff treated me like a second class citizen and it was made clear to me that they only cared about the money I was giving them, not my living experience. Along with this the way they show the rooms on their website is a catfish, the rooms are shoebox sized and barely livable. DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE TRASH.
