Prado Student Living, san-antonio-tx

I lived at Prado Apartments for two years, and unfortunately my experience was overwhelmingly negative. The biggest issue was the elevator. The only elevator serving the 5th and 6th floors was out of service for roughly half of the time I lived there. As a resident on an upper floor, this meant carrying groceries and other necessities up multiple flights of stairs on a regular basis for months at a time. The property was also consistently dirty. Hallways were frequently covered in trash and, at times, dog feces. While residents should absolutely clean up after themselves, property management is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary living environment, and that standard was not met. Maintenance requests often took an excessive amount of time to be addressed. I was also disturbed by racist comments I personally heard from one of the maintenance employees regarding residents. To my knowledge, no action was taken, and the employee remained employed during my time there. That experience was extremely disappointing and contributed to an unwelcoming environment. The front office staff also frequently spoke negatively about residents. Rather than feeling supported when issues arose, many interactions left me feeling that tenant concerns were being dismissed. For a property that charges premium student housing prices, security was another major disappointment. My roommate had all four of her tires and rims stolen and replaced with flat tires while parked in the parking garage. This was not a quick incident, yet no security personnel intervened, and management offered little assistance beyond stating that it was not their responsibility. Parking policies were also extremely frustrating. Guests are required to obtain a guest parking pass from the office, but even when a valid pass is issued, vehicles can still be towed if the pass falls from the dashboard and is no longer visible. Residents and guests are then left responsible for towing and storage fees, which started at around $250 in my experience. Student housing options in San Antonio may be limited, but Prado is significantly overpriced for what it provides. Between the unreliable elevator, unsanitary hallways, slow maintenance response times, concerning staff conduct, ineffective security, and aggressive towing practices, I would not recommend living here.

UPDATE: elevators have been down for three weeks and management hasnt given so much any kind of update or acknowledgment of the issue. So its crazy to see past reviews where they blame it on the “vendors” and claim that issue has been “addressed” when we have been without an elevator for almost a month!!! The elevators have gone down in the past and past/old mgmt always sent updates and it was usually fixed within a week or so , so it was never a huge deal but not this time around. I moved out this past week and not having an elevator added alot of stress and physical strain to an already strenuous process. I dont understand how this place calls themself a luxury apartment when it fails to at MINIMUM maintain its advertised amenities. So happy to be out of this place ! Not sure whats going on with prado but yall need to do better. If youre thinking of moving here good luck! Not worth the headache tbh . Mgmt here seems nearly nonexistent these days. Nobody ever knows anything or cares enough to find out. No urgency for issues you bring to their attention. Its like they literally go out of their way to avoid helping you. Some staff is friendly but the rest give off a very cliquey/gossipy vibe and act like youre inconveniencing them. & Just like another review said managers are always in a “meeting” So you can forget about actually speaking with one. & if/when you finally do get to speak with someone they’re extremely passive aggressive and/or they tell you theyll “handle it” but nothing and i mean NOTHING ever actually gets done. Not worth it AT ALL

I am a parent of a former Prado resident and now have a Niece attending UTSA. I’ve been helping to get information for my Niece. Prado has been THE ONLY student living place to answer on the first ring, ALWAYS professional, ALWAYS very pleasant and ALWAYS knowledgeable. I have a student living calling me after a whole week of my leaving them a message and that’s a red flag. My Daughter stayed at Prado and loved it. Prado was close to campus and close to a lot of places to eat and shop.

If I could rate this complex 0 stars I would. Overpriced, trashed, and nothing ever gets fixed. Bring any concerns to management it takes them over a week to respond to emails and they refuse to speak in person because they are always "in meetings". Garage always has trash everywhere, no matter what floor you're on and a tow truck is always lurking and circling the parking garage. When its time for trash to be taken out, they allow other units to have heaps of trash outside not condensed in a trash bag or any type of organization. Alarms are constantly going off, without fail I get a text notification of alarms and all clears! at least 1 every week or every other week. Absolutely no sound dampening anywhere in the apartment, I can hear everything in my apartment happening outside. Something is always broken, whether its doors or elevators, they is constantly something down. The stairwells around the property always smell like animal pee and poop and filled with alcohol cans or trash in general. Entirely overpriced for what you're getting. Save yourself time and money and move to any apartment nearby. At least they will have shuttles to take you to school too. Edit: I relet my apartment in May and turned my keys over May 1st. This complex is very disorganized and charge me for utilities in the time frame between May 1st and May 15th. They require a 2 week turnaround notice to "clean" and get the bedspace ready for the next resident. I have no idea why they charged me for utilities when I was not residing there and when I tried to call to dispute the student workers at the front relayed a message from management that I could not dispute and I owed the $60 utility bill because I am "still on the lease". On top of that, the "2 week turnaround to prepare the bedspace" is false. I was informed by my roommates that not once did maintenance or anyone enter the room in that 2 week turnaround. If you want to enjoy living somewhere, go anywhere else. This complex is not worth the price and it is not a nice place to live in any circumstance. Pick anywhere else to live!!!

When I moved into this apartment, it was in terrible condition. The room was dirty, there was mold in the bathtub, and the AC was leaking into it. There was no kitchen sink drain or trash can. Mid-year, water started leaking from the ceiling, giving it a moldy appearance, and it took weeks for them to repaint. The hallways looked like an asylum, with dog poop and pee everywhere, including the elevators. The water heater was also inadequate; if I took a shower while the washing machine was on, the water would turn cold. The shower was also leaking at first, so every time I would take one, it would squirt out over the shower curtain into the rest of the bathroom. The windowsill was repainted with bugs and hair underneath the paint. I left the apartment in much better condition than I received it, but I was still charged random fees for damages that were already there. The walls were already damaged, yet I was charged repainting fees even though I uploaded pictures of the damage in the move-in form. I was also charged to replace a perfectly fine chair and a sofa cushion with bonded leather that was already cracked when I moved in. The WiFi would also be down for days at a time. This place is far from a luxury apartment. It’s better to live at another complex, such as Sterling Heights.
