I have been really happy with my experience living at Ivory. I’ve found lots of good friends and it is a relatively quiet apartment complex. The move in was easy and they have lots of fun engaging activities. If you are willing to live the honor code then it’s a great place to stay.

Loved living here!, great community all around and I've made so many friends here. I felt super safe all the time and the location is super convenient for all my classes and meal halls. 100% the best housing at the University of Utah.

I really enjoy living at Ivory University House! The location is super convenient, the property is clean and well maintained, and the apartments are comfortable. The staff is always friendly and helpful whenever I need anything. It’s a great place for students, and being so close to campus makes everything much easier. I definitely recommend Ivory University House to anyone looking for a nice place to live!

I have lived at Ivory University House for the past two years, but I was desperately trying to move out before next year. This apartment is so expensive, and I thoroughly believe that only kids with rich parents who pay their rent can afford to live here. Although they claim to offer scholarships for the "economically challenged," they changed their policy for next year and are effectively pricing the scholarship students out. You can no longer live in a 3 bed, 3 bath unit, (which is the cheapest thing they offer) you must live in a studio apartment (which start at $1400 a month). It's like they want to milk every cent from the already "economically challenged" students that they campaigned on helping. There are several common areas that sit desolate and empty most of the year. The only rooms I ever see people in are the study rooms, which granted, are very nice. The units themselves however are poorly built and although it looks "luxury," in reality the craftsmanship is rushed. The walls are made of the cheapest material and dent if you push your fingernail in GENTLY. My roommates and I had a flip top trashcan and it literally created a gash in the wall everytime the plastic lid scraped against it. The metal bed frames included in the room also tear and scrape up the walls, which is something I just know I won't get my full security deposit back for, even though it's their furniture and it's a "brand new" building. (Update: they did, and it was $75 for damage their furniture did to their walls. Just having the bed frame against the wall causes enough damage to warrant a fee?) The common areas are nice, but seeing the expensive furnishings feels like a slap in the face if you struggle to pay the rent each month. This is also nitpicking, but the music practice rooms do not have proper sound insulation and dissuade musicians from using them because the sound travels all the way down the hall and throughout the staircase. As the semester went on the WIFI also got worse and worse, at one point being below 10 mbps for upload and download speed. Even the cheapest WiFi plan should get you around 50 mbps. I would often just waste my cell service data because the WiFi was THAT slow. It feels like they built the bedrooms themselves as quickly as possible to try and suck as much money as they can from well-off parents. If you're a student who pays their own rent and tuition, you can expect the rent to increase every year and added extra fees. (And for management to randomly charge you double the rent for one month with no explanation??) Ivory University House doesn't care about making things affordable for students who actually financially support themselves, they just cater to the privileged students who don't pay attention to the rising rent and fees year after year. If you're a rich parent and can afford to pay the exorbitant rent price, I guess you can go for it, but if you're a working class student I implore you to stay away from Ivory. There are many cheaper student options in the greater SLC area. (As for the housing scholarship I received, I am eternally grateful to the donors who paid for some of my rent and appreciate that I had a safe place to live for two years. I just wish it was more affordable for the low-income students. The change in the scholarship policy is absolutely heinous and I wonder if the scholarship donors know about it at all.)

Too expensive for what is offered. I had liked the idea of this student living arrangement and it seemed very nice at first, but over time I’ve had too many problems that have gone unsolved (stolen mail, management issues, overcharges on rent, etc). Having lived in the dorms too, the dorms are a better deal and more integrated with student life… which I think is the point of living on campus. Overall, there are much better apartments in Salt Lake City and dorms to choose.
