After living here for a year, I enjoyed my time and appreciated the friendliness of the owner and management. For private housing, the price is very reasonable and cheaper than what you can find at other private apartments. The complex is old, and many appliances in the unit are outdated and beginning to show signs of failure. Maintenance was helpful and addressed many of the issues. The A/C was a constant problem during the spring semester last year, and wasn't resolved until just before summer break began. It turned out to be a simple fix, but it was frustrating that it took so long with an average indoor temperature of 80 degrees in the evenings. The owner was extremely helpful as she helped to diagnose the problem and included a discount on the following semester's rent for the inconvenience. Other small things maintenance took care of for us were the kitchen sink that has corroded to the point it was leaking water on the counter and the shower head that had sustained damage due to cleaners neglecting to rinse away chemicals that resulted in eating away the finish. Problems that never got the attention they deserved were the washer and dryer. They are very outdated and do not run well. The washer occasionally didn't drain the water, leaving the contents soaked and requiring another cycle to drain completely. Problems with the dryer included needing 4+ hours of run time to completely dry and leaving burn marks on my whites. Multiple maintenance requests were submitted but no real solutions fixed these problems. Brighton is notorious for their strict white gloves and have a very thorough process for documenting everything. I enjoyed this because I like living somewhere that cares about it's property and keeps their residents accountable for the spaces they live in. The bi-weekly clean checks are very relaxed in comparison and often surprise first semester residents with how difficult and time-consuming white gloves can be. It would have been nice if the same standard applied to the bi-weekly checks. The process for documenting and recording damages is VERY frustrating. You'd think with how organized they are, a better system for damages would exist but if you don't have specific enough wording in your pre-damage inspection report then you can be charged with a fine for existing damages. A larger frustration is the lack of consideration for the students who live there. I was asked to move apartments for a month so carpets could be cleaned but that resulted in having to move my stuff twice and re-cleaning the space I occupied. All the beds in the unit were also broken as a result of the movers sliding them across the room and many were not put back in place. Overall I had a good experience and met some great friends but if I were to return to Rexburg, I'd look somewhere else due to the hassle of everything.
