Since the management change, most things have become more disorganized. Communication regarding leasing is inconsistent, and while rates have increased, the overall quality seems to have declined. The maintenance team is very attentive and responsive, but seem limited by upper management when it comes to what can be addressed. For example, my unit’s washer and dryer have been problematic throughout my two years here and have yet to be replaced. Security doesn’t seem to be the best as my room mate had his motorbike stolen and the cameras, according to management, caught nothing of the incident. The gates are open during daytime every day except Sundays and have been known to get stuck open throughout the night. The parking situation doesn't usually have problems, however it's common to find the lot filled when an event is going on nearby. The Highlands does occasionally put out deals, but getting a hold of these deals can be frustrating. Emails often go unanswered until said promotions are already expired resulting in having to go in person to get something figured out. Brian along with other maintenance team members have been extremely helpful and are my main reason for renewing for my second year. Given the rates, The Highlands is not a bad place to stay at all in the end. It is conveniently located and walkable for UNR students. The internet is very fast and dumpster areas are usually kept tidy.

Terribly high prices for the outdated and disgusting apartments. Multiple missing or broken items when I moved in and the carpet flooring was crusty and my shower drain was clogged full of hair. Only positive is the maintenance is usually very fast and helpful. Building was outdated and they had to replace all CO2 detectors only because the fire department got notified and turns out my apartment didn’t even actually have one and they had to install it. The printer in the computer room would never connect to the computers to be able to print papers when I’ve tried multiple times. Not worth nearly $1,000 in rent payments each month.

Overall the hospitality and care from the staff is incomparable to the other student housing. When I moved in there were a few things out of place with my room and the property manager was very kind and they came and spoke to me personally and fixed it. The maintenance staff is very kind and always eager to help, we are very thankful for their attentiveness to any maintenance issues. It is very clean and quiet. I love the garden style housing because I feel like it’s more adult-like than other nearby living.

I’ve been living at the Highlands apartments for two years now, and I honestly couldn’t ask for a better apartment community. The staff goes above and beyond, communication is clear, and any issues are handled fast. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and feels safe and welcoming. It truly feels like home, and that’s rare to find when renting. I’m so glad I chose to live here!

Horrible time living there. Do not come here. This place will trap you and force you to pay a months worth of rent including a move out fee of another month of rent if you decide to move out early. I understand that's usually customary but I am for some reason continuing to be forced to pay rent even though I moved out and signed the move out forms. So I've paid for 3 months worth of rent total not including a false charge for January that took over a week to sort out. Even paying for utilities I didn't use. They won't help you find someone to re-lease your place and you're forced to do it on your own. They are unhelpful and it's better to find somewhere else to live. Also they say they're a gated community but the fence burned down and it took nearly 6 months for them to rebuild it allowing people to just walk inside. My place flooded and they didn't help clean it even though it was their washer machine that broke in apparently a very common way. They didn't replace the washer machine. Someone was shot outside my apartment as well. There's fireworks constantly and I once had someone throw stuff at my window and the apartments barley did anything about it. Terrible experience. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE I do understand some of this is standard stuff but in my experience they take it to an extreme most other places don't take it
