The College Inn, raleigh-nc

I lived here during the summer and lived without working air conditioning for weeks. I constantly was trying to communicate with the office and was being told they were working on it. I saw my work order marked as complete that the AC was fixed just to get home from work to see that was not the case, it was around 80 degrees inside. The window unit was removed funnily enough right before management was out for the weekend also. One day after leaving a long comment with management about my experience with my AC being broken I heard maintenance employees talking negatively about my “little complaints” in the office when I walked by. Too expensive for what this place is and poor communication and effort by maintenance that can result in unsafe conditions. Also there are gross spouts for dripping water from the AC in the shower that I let them know about and didn’t see any change.

Please read reviews, any five star reviews are people who work in the office and are incentivized to do so. Any text you send is replied by a ai. This place is ridiculous. Black mold in ac unit and other units aswell did not do anything to fix it. We had black mold on the bathroom ceiling, blamed it on us saying we can’t use the ac unit when it’s hot out or else it leaks. Cockroaches and ants are all over it. Spends money to paint the outside but does nothing about the interior. Room they show online and in the visiting room couldn’t be more far off than the condition we have. Pool chairs have not been cleaned in the 2 years I’ve been here and there are sweat stains on all of them. Very expensive and does not care about the living situation but just to make money. Do not live here, spend more money for another apartment or get a house with friends

I'm a former resident of The College Inn. Out of curiosity, I checked my email for how many times the water had been shut off in one of the buildings on the property. Since February, there had been 22 water shut-offs. For the entire lease it likely was closer to 40. While I understand the need to repair water heaters and such, there has to be a solution to address the frequency of these shut-offs. If you live here, expect to have your water shut off on the regular. They will usually let you know day of, so make sure to check your emails too.

I haven't had a horrible experience here, but it hasn't been great either. Leasing office and repairmen are helpful and responsive and I haven't had any major issues, but there have been some annoying things like the water being shut off for repairs (probably eight times in the five months I've lived here) and renovations setting off the fire alarm. Walls are pretty thin, I can fully understand conversations going on in the living room from my bedroom even with the door closed. Personally I might live here again if the rent was cheaper, but $1000/month with three roommates, cheap furniture/appliancess, and a really small bedroom is far too high IMO, even for the location. The guest parking is also really expensive so if you want to have friends over a lot keep that in mind.

Very poor management the actual on site manager is useless and so is their boss. The parking garage has no security. The walkways were never clean. The showers were disgusting upon move in. The only redeeming quality was that maintenance actually came in a timely manner and fixed whatever we needed. Lived in a 4x2 for a couple years it was comfortable enough for any State students plus it’s right across the street from main campus.
