Excellent apartment with nice quality furniture. The electric appliances are great, and having a washer and dryer in the apartment is a big plus. Internet is good, but sometimes it gets laggy (very few times). It's a very quiet area, though you may occasionally hear noise from neighbors' parties, especially on long weekends. Since I don't have a car, I can't comment on the car robbery situation, although I haven't heard of any incidents from my flatmates. My only issue is that there's only one bus line serving the complex—route 11. It takes around 15 minutes to reach the closest stop to Centennial Campus (Varsity & Avent Ferry). Sometimes, passengers on that bus can be impolite, especially at night. If you're moving here to study at NC State, and don't have a car, the bus stop is right in the corner of the complex (less than a 2 minute walk). Here are estimated travel times to campus: Centennial Campus: Walking: 45 minutes Bus (route 11): 8–10 minutes + 10 minute walk Main Campus: Bus (route 11): 18 minutes Closest supermarket Bus (route 11): 5 minutes

Maintenance flooded our apartment while trying to replace our faucet. Water went into rooms and damaged our living room rug. They told us they would compensate us for what happened, but never ended up reaching back out to us about it. We even sent them an email about it, and they never responded.

The location is great and close to campus. The rooms and furniture are nice, but I will not be renewing my lease, as multiple cars have been broken into. If you choose to stay here, make sure you have good insurance and an alarm on your car. Good luck.

i've been here for almost two years now and car break-ins have happened almost every week! there will be days when shattered windows are just scattered throughout the parking lot, and when you call management they won't do anything about it! not having cameras on the parking lots feels very unsafe, especially since a stolen vehicle was left in the complex this morning. i do not recommend living here, it feels very unsafe.

This review is going to be a lot, so buckle in. For some brief context, I've lived over at 1820 for going on three years now, and it seems to only be getting worse and worse as time goes on. Quite literally, if you had asked me even last year about living here, I probably would have given it four stars, but I would not recommend anyone living here now. To begin with the positives, the apartments are close to both of NC State's campuses (less than 10 minutes from each), Cary, Garner, and Apex, which makes it both easy to get to campus and easy to grocery shop/find things to do. In comparison to other student apartments, the interior also tends to be nicer and updated than some of my other friends' places that I've seen. Parking and utilities are included in the rent, but you also have to pay a monthly tech fee for internet, a monthly green fee (?), and renter's insurance. Also, if you have or are considering getting an ESA, they are not only pet-friendly, but were actually really good about taking the paperwork from my therapist. On the other hand, though, it has come to the point where there are certainly a significant more amount of negatives than positives. For starters, if you have read some of the other reviews, you know about the car break-ins-- I was one of many, many victims of this. I left for a singular weekend and came back to my back window smashed in the normal area I park in, right by the sidewalk (not even towards the woods in the back). Considering cars have been broken into at all hours over here and my car got broken into around 6 AM (the alarm was going off around then), I genuinely can't say that I feel safe anymore in the parking lot at any time when there is not broad daylight. On top of this, one of my roommates from last year had her car broken into while living here too. Management refuses to put up any cameras or get security to come out here consistently, despite numerous complaints from residents here. What makes this even more comical is the fact that they paid to have brand-new keyless locks installed across the entire apartment, and yet cannot provide us with any sense of safety. Beyond the break-ins, there are NUMEROUS issues with the mail system. If your package does not fit in the tiny slots or small lockers by the accessible units, it WILL get returned to sender without notice, and you can't even go to the post office or the Preiss Company office to pick it up. Having dealt with so many issues with the mail over my time here, my roommates and I asked a couple of questions to the guy who delivers our mail, and he told us that our address is not officially registered with the USPS but rather some third-party mail delivery service (which explains why some websites will not even let us ship anything here, as our address cannot be verified). He also said that our larger packages used to be forwarded to the Preiss Company office (since we do not have one on-site) but that they STOPPED allowing this, which is exactly why everything is automatically returned to sender if it cannot be delivered. Finally, although the maintenance staff is friendly, concerns take way too much time to be addressed. Between our AC being broken last summer, our washer being broken this summer, and numerous other smaller issues, my roommates and I are no strangers to the maintenance staff. However, all of these concerns constantly took days to even multiple weeks for some to be fixed. EVEN our broken AC. Considering we have pets in the apartment, this was a huge, huge issue for us. At the end of it all, the true icing on the cake for all of this is that there are virtually NO amenities at 1820 or even an on-site office to address these concerns to, which is really funny considering our rent went up around $100 from last year to this year. If you have any issues, you have to contact the Preiss Company directly, and most of their employees (with a couple exceptions) are absolutely awful to work with. If you want my advice, save yourself the trouble and just don't live here.
