staying at copper beech has overall been a mostly positive experience. the staff is always very kind and very helpful to any questions. maintenance has always been quick to fix any issue and done so perfectly. having a radford transit bus for the place is very helpful for me getting to the radford university campus and back. and overall, the apartment itself is comfortable and has just the amount of space that i need. however, i have two main complaints. 1) the place i’m in has no central air. there is a portable ac downstairs and upstairs, but overall, the air is still just so stuffy, and it’s almost unbearable when it’s hot outside. 2) there were some minor damages when i first moved in. it’s mostly within the kitchen cabinets, the drawers are sometimes difficult to open, and overall you can tell that they’re aging. there’s also quite a few cracks and gaps in corners of the place. however, these issues are not unbearable to deal with, and aren’t big enough to be a dealbreaker for me. overall, in my opinion, the place would be close to perfect if there was some central air. i’m moving out of the radford area soon, but when i come back, copper beech is a place that i will consider living in again, and also one that i would recommend to other people.

March 2026- I like my simple, efficient, cozy apartment and it's just enough for me and my cat. It's also not too much to maintain and heat/cool. I'm midway through another renewal and my experiences so far here have been very positive overall. The office staff are kind and do what they can to help. They also care about your pets and check in if anything happens. My cat Bruce suddenly passed away last year and they expressed their condolences which meant a lot to me and i won't forget. They found lost property in the parking lot and proactively contacted me to see if it was mine. I can honestly say my initial worries have gradually lessened since moving in. Neighbors can make or break an otherwise good apartment and thankfully my neighbors are good, especially the side ones who I don't hear anything out of. My building is mostly quiet and I haven't seen any problems with music, parties or anything of that nature so far. Being able to chill quietly and decompress on my off-nights and sleep during the day (most of the time without a problem) is definitely something I try not to take for granted. Top neighbors can bang/thump around pretty heavily sometimes. However it's still what I'd call reasonable. I just ignore it since it's usually intermittent. I can't expect total quiet all the time in an apartment. As long as it doesn't get more frequent or worse, it's not something I think needs to be pushed. It's just one of those things with an apartment. My cat Logan thankfully isn't bothered by it and that's my real litmus test. If I were to make one suggestion, it would be to enforce stricter towing especially since parking is often limited. Can the tow company make more frequent sweeps especially at night? The main problem seems to be visitors parking where they want and not displaying any pass or regular parking sticker. They arrive at night or evening and are gone just before the office opens the next morning, but still make the parking lot full when residents come back home early in the morning. I'll highly praise the maintenance team. I usually deal with Vince and/or Buckie in my unit and both of them are very good at communicating. But the whole team is always prompt and get to issues quickly, even for non-emergencies. I've only had minor toilet and utility issues that were quickly fixed and didn't reoccur. They got an electrician vendor out as quickly as possible when one was needed. The office & maintenance respect my unusual schedule and I try to be reasonable in return. They also respect my cat when he gets a little curious about visitors. He's the extrovert to my introvert. January 2026 was extremely cold and we had more snow & ice than usual. There were several days of sustained frigid temps. Maintenance took care of the sidewalks and parking lots as best possible with the amount of ice that compacted into a thick hard layer until it finally melted completely. The location of the property itself has really grown on me and I've come to like it. It's not in the busiest parts of town. It's within walking distance to the Riverway trail and is right across from the rec center. The closest grocery store is Food Lion and that's a quick trip if you don't want to go across the bridge to Fairlawn. It seems quiet and safe outside at night because I see people walking their dogs frequently. I know the property has had issues several years ago but I haven't seen indications those problems are still around. Sometimes deer will walk through the grass and that's a good sign. Overall moving here was a good choice for me and I've enjoyed my time so far. I don't have anxiety about coming home. I hope it continues and I'll update in the future. Thank you! *Management and ownership both changed in July 2026. There is a property rebranding and renaming, apparently distancing themselves from the student-housing image and more of a focus towards multi-family housing. Asset Living is the property management company now, replacing Cardinal Group. I believe Eastman Residential is the new actual owner, replacing Harrison Street.

The units aren’t perfect & are definitely aged a bit, but for the price, it’s really good. I haven’t had any issues with anyone of the staff, they’re all super kind to me & my family. Maintenance is very responsive & cooperative in comparison to the other rental companies I’ve rented through before. Overall, I really like living here! :)

The office staff was consistently unhelpful and often lacked clear communication. Throughout my time here, the complex experienced frequent internet outages, yet residents were rarely provided with updates or information about the cause or expected resolution. My biggest concern came after moving out. I received an extremely large bill for alleged apartment damages, accompanied by photos that did not appear to show any actual damage. After I emailed requesting an explanation and disputing the charges, every damage-related fee was removed from my account. That experience raised serious concerns about the accuracy and fairness of the move-out billing process, and I would encourage future tenants to carefully review any charges they receive. The maintenance staff, however, was consistently professional, responsive, and helpful whenever issues arose. They were the only positive part of my experience, which is why I gave this property a second star.
