I’ve been waiting to write this review ALLLLL year. The Retreat is the biggest scam you will ever enter. Do not make the same mistake I did. Although the apartments look great from the outside, be prepared to order an entire cleaning service for your apartment when you move in. When we first moved in, it was DISGUSTING. Absolutely filthy. We pay almost $1,300 a month just to move into a mess. This is the most performative place of all time. There’s dog shit everywhere, mud, dead plants, broken pool chairs, homeless people, and people constantly revving their engines or blasting the loudest music possible in the garage. Don’t even get me started on the issues we had inside the apartment. My friend’s entire first room flooded, and she couldn’t live there for a couple of days. Hannah, the worst manager of all time... didn’t comp her or offer any support whatsoever. She was literally homeless. A couple of weeks later, our entire AC system went down, and Hannah, being the great manager she is, decided to blame it on dogs. Nice. Then they proceeded to place disgusting AC units in all of our rooms, which were ALL positive on a mold test. DISGUSTING. Also, the elevator in the garage has probably been broken since the place opened. The hot tub/fake jumbotron hasn’t worked EVER either. The lobby staff are always nice, but the issues run deep on the other side. DO NOT live here. It is not worth the trouble for how much you’re paying.

DO NOT SIGN HERE!!! This was, without question, the worst apartment experience I’ve ever had. Instead of enjoying my home, I spent my lease submitting maintenance requests, documenting issues, and wondering what would go wrong next. I moved into an apartment that wasn’t even clean. The amount of dirt and dust was horrific and it felt like no one had properly prepared the unit before move-in. We even had to hire our own cleaning team on move-in day. Throughout my lease I dealt with broken A/C, backed-up showers, mold, ants, cockroaches, unreliable Wi-Fi, and broken appliances. Every maintenance issue became another stressful battle instead of a straightforward fix. The property itself was no better. The parking garage was frequently dirty, trash accumulated around the property, and amenities like the pool, hot tub, and elevators were regularly broken or unavailable. Yet residents continued paying premium rent for amenities they often couldn’t use. Safety was another major concern. There were car break-ins constantly, people who didn’t appear to be residents hanging around the property, and many times when I felt unsafe. When concerns were reported, I didn’t feel they were taken seriously. Management was by far the most frustrating part of living here. It is impossible to speak with anyone in person, and residents were constantly told to communicate by email. Responses were inconsistent, I was given conflicting information, and I often left feeling dismissed instead of helped. We were constantly blamed for maintenance issues. Our entire first floor flooded and they blamed my roommate saying she “most likely left the sink running”. Even after inspecting and seeing the flood didn’t originate from the bathroom. They gave no diagnosis of the problem and no accommodations. They blamed the dust and broken A/C on my other roommates dog, saying it was from neglecting to clean. I have never in my life heard of an issue with A/C breaking due to having a pet. And, in the photos below, it’s clear the build up occurred from poor property maintenance, as I’m sure the air ducts have never been cleaned. This apartment caused me far more stress than I needed as a UCF student studying for a difficult degree. I couldn’t wait for my lease to end. If you’re considering signing here, I strongly encourage you to read the recent reviews carefully and consider other options. I truly regret choosing this place. Any of the good reviews on here are from staff and friends, or people who did a tour and were promised something in return for 5 stars. See photos attached for examples from when we moved in. The last photos are from the disgusting temporary A/C unit they placed in my room after our unit broke, and the mold test I conducted. If you were a resident as well and had a similar experience, I encourage you to write a review so others don’t make the same mistake we did.

I didn’t live here, but I spent enough time visiting my girlfriend to see how poorly this place is managed. The dust is so bad my allergies were consistently bothering me. Maintenance issues dragged on, communication was frustrating, and for what residents pay, the experience just isn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend this complex to anyone looking for a well-run place to live.

I really enjoy The Retreat East and all that they have to offer! From the luxury amenities, spacious and updated apartments, and the kind staff, it really is an amazing place to live. I also love how they show their residents care and appreciation! My favorite part is how they do events from free food, bouquet making, free professional headshots, and more each week. It makes the experience incredible!

Horrible behind the scenes. Office has no sympathy or anything. I am currently trying to get out of my lease due to my safety being at risk and they have no regard to my police report being filed and even went through courts. My future lease has yet to begin and they’re stating I cannot get out of it. They’re stating that domestic violence victims aren’t protected under the law because they are private housing. A shame to Hannah, to Zane and to others in the office ! Update: you guys have not ensured timely communication, you guys tell me that you won’t speak on this matter anymore and it’ll be the legal counsel to then hit me up. I emailed you guys twice and no response since 9 AM today. It’s impossible to speak to Hannah by the way everything is emaiL BUT that’s after you call the office to say “when will I get a response”. You guys say “while also stating compliant” it is 4 girls in this apartment and you’re putting everyone at risk because you do not want to cancel / terminate 1 lease that starts in August….. it’s a shame really. If you think about signing just look for somewhere that has a termination agreement. They don’t care about safety, they don’t care about what’s happened, they don’t even care that I’ve went through the issue, they state VAWA is “typicall” government funded residential issues, but isn’t domestic violence everywhere? It’s a shame really. The communication isn’t even half of the issues with this complex but I’ll stay on topic. I see other reviews have the other issues pointed out.
