Alight Norman, norman-ok

Please read before forming an opinion. I have lived here for 3 years and while I can say it is not the worst housing in norman, it still has a share of issues. Keeping in mind, each unit is case by case the fact that Alight is owned by a Chicago, IL based company mean you will find examples of common management and maintenance negligence. For example, when installing the dryer the maintenance team pushed the unit as far back as possible pinching the outlet vent creating a significant fire hazard and the management lacked proper inspection to find this simple mistake. As well, after a heating coil when out in the washing machine, a ticket was placed to fix the issue. Alight replaced the unit with a "new" unit. Without internal documents, i cannot prove it to be a previously used unit but I suspect it to be. When finished, I noted the unit had not been properly installed into the wall and began to submit tickets of it not draining and a terrible smell. They came and claimed there to be nothing wrong with the unit It wasn't until I recently that I found it to be due to a buildup of mold and bacteria in the front gasket as shown in the photo. This issue was not listed on the ticket, but a general inspection would have found it quickly. The only reason I give this place 1 star is that I know it is the way it will be most seen. I have lived at 3-4 other housings while attendeding OU and alight norman has not been the worst of the bunch. I would simply say, you must do your own inspection before moving in. Because there will not be due diligence anywhere.

I left a 1 star review a few months ago, around August 2025, and since then my review is taken down. I suspect Alight Norman reported my review. If that doesn’t tell you what you need to know about the management here, just look at their responses to other bad reviews. Original review: Insane amounts of cockroaches and they basically stole $300 from me at the end of my time here (2 years) then continued to ignore my emails and even ignore me when I went into the office. Wish I could give a 0 star review. Edit after the business’s reply: I am not asking for a response from Alight Norman. I already tried that via emails before I reached a deafening silence of no responses. I am just trying to let others know about my experience with a poorly managed apartment complex and to anticipate the same issues. Readers, please also note these poor and pointless attempts at publicly saving face, along with a lack of explanation for cockroach problems!

I just moved here and the place is so dirty, dust is absolutely everywhere. Things are chipped like the floor and table. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, worse experience ever. I have only been here two days and they changed my locks out of nowhere which made me late for work. As well as I don’t have a key to the front door. I asked for the tub to be replaced or professionally cleaned and they haven’t. The whole place is literally dusty and I have severe allergies. There is rust absolutely every where and the light bulbs need to be changed everywhere. I am not enjoying myself at all.

This place is disgusting. Every inch of our apartment was extremely dirty and unsanitary. Dust everywhere, the air filters were black, the baseboards were brown, the ceiling fans were covered in a thick black layer of dust. They didn’t even attempt to clean it much less say it was sanitized. The window sills had dead bugs and cobwebs. Every single thing in the apartment was filthy. It is seriously a health hazard. Aside from the inside, the front of our building has trash all along the front, the mailroom is trashed with papers and trash everywhere. The cameras are filled with dirt and dust and don’t even work. The website says “gated community” but you guessed it, the gates don’t work.

Moved my son in on Thursday. We were delayed 5 hours due to maintenance issues. Then upon arriving at the newly scheduled time they were still cleaning the apartment so another 45 minutes delay. When entering the apartment the floor is all scratched up, the couch looks like it needs to be thrown away, their apartment was missing two desks, the air conditioner was leaking on the floor, the registers are covered in black mold as well as the drywall and the internet/Wi-Fi is not working. Supposed to have received the password for the Wi-Fi yesterday. Seems to be one thing after another and now can’t get anyone to answer the phone and asked to leave a message. Very dissatisfied with the process so far
