The Social on Hovey, normal-il

I’ve lived at the Social on Hovey for 3 years now and it has been a pleasant experience. The maintenance man Shawn has always been super incredible whenever we have any issues with the apartment. The rooms are the perfect size, and I love our balcony. The only downside I would say is the parking situation, if you have guests over you need to be very mindful of how long they are staying and if you don’t validate their parking within 15 minutes they get a $90 ticket, which is something that I didn’t have to deal with in previous years. Also Utilities used to be included and now they aren’t so it does add a little more of a cost to the rent. But other than that I would say it’s a nice apartment and it’s close to a lot of things so it’s prime location for off campus housing

Worst living situation I have ever been in. Black mold, thousands of ants that come every spring from the walls/utility closet. I have been paranoid cleaning because of the ants but they’re coming from the structure itself. I was charged with my roommate close to 1 grand for a couch that I received with already existing claw marks from another cat. I was given a room that reeked of cat urine as well. Something I complained about but was never resolved. The apartment complex is also extremely dirty trash everywhere. Bird poop coated all around the parking garage and near the doors to enter our hallway. Extremely dirty living conditions.. I’m not sure if they’re getting away with it just because college students are renting it out. The rent is also extremely high for the quality of the apartment complex.

I had a great experience working with Amanda at The Social Apartments! She gave me a thorough tour and took the time to answer all my questions, making the entire process feel easy and stress-free. Amanda was very knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful from start to finish. She made sure I understood everything and went above and beyond to assist me. I really appreciate her professionalism and positive attitude—she’s a big reason I’m considering this place. I love it here! The maintenance team, Joe and Shawn, are absolutely outstanding. They respond quickly, and work efficiently, and always make sure the job is done right The leasing office team , Jackie, Taryn, Kate, Alejandro, Michael, Amanda, and Karmyn — are truly amazing. From day one, they have been welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful. They go above and beyond to answer questions, address concerns, and make residents feel valued.

I’ve had a great experience here so far. Shawn has been incredibly helpful and responsive — he usually resolves any issues within 24 hours of us submitting a request. He even came out in the middle of the night for an emergency, which we truly appreciated!! He is very attentive, reliable, and clearly cares about making sure things are taken care of quickly and correctly. We are very grateful for his dedication!
