SAVE YOURSELF & RENT WITH FIRST SITE INSTEAD✨ My husband and I (fiancé at the time) were searching for an apartment when we came across Young America Realty. Initially, they seemed very friendly and willing to help, which is why we decided to move forward with them. Before we ever toured the property or submitted an application, I was upfront about our situation. I explained that we had both lost our jobs, accumulated credit card debt as a result, and were actively paying it off. I also told the leasing agent what our credit scores were. In an email, he told us they could work with our credit as long as one of our scores was above 550 and we had a qualified co-signer. Based on that information, we toured the property and paid the application fees. We also had a co-signer who met all of their stated requirements. However, after our applications were denied due to our credit history, I reached out and asked about moving forward with the co-signer we had already discussed. At that point, I was told they do not work with co-signers unless the application first receives a conditional approval. This was never explained before we paid the application fees. Had we been told upfront that a co-signer could only be used under certain approval conditions, we would not have spent money applying. My issue is not with being denied—landlords have every right to set their qualification standards. My issue is the lack of transparency before taking our application fees. I feel we were given information that led us to believe a co-signer would allow us to move forward, only to be told something different after our money had already been collected. I believe applicants deserve clear and accurate information before being encouraged to apply.

Never wrote a negative review before, but Young America truly deserved it. To start off, you can forget about your security deposit because you won't ever see it again. Even though you paid $250 at the beginning, you will still get charged at the end for painting, labor, and some other made-up expenses. The apartment was shittily painted when we moved in, and now they blame us and want us to pay for it. Also, a nice thing to know about YA: they will forward your unpaid bills to collections if you don't pay them after moving out. It turns out toilets and bathrooms leak there pretty often, or someone steals the window screen, and if you request maintenance for something you didn't do, guess what—they are going to charge you. But the worst part of all is the freaking showings at any time of the day. According to their policy, they are supposed to notify us at least 24 hours in advance that there is going to be a showing. They don't always do that, and they can enter the rooms without knocking. They also don't turn off the lights or close the doors after themselves. It is a complete mess, and these are just the beginning of a long list of issues. Please never rent with them if you want a decent and comfortable apartment.

Would not recommend this company to my worse enemy. Since YA took over for accel it has been a completely different experience. We started the first month off with a notice they needed to inspect my building for a water leak. Cool, I mentioned to them my drain was draining slow and asked if they could look at it. They said yes and later send me a text saying they did a simple fix. I got home and nothing was different so I opened the drain myself and pulled a huge wad of hair out of the drain, I never even told them but the next month I got $90 “erroneous” maintenance charge. Please explain that when there WAS an issue and I didn’t even specifically request them to come out, simply asked them to check an issue related to the reason the reason they were coming out! Then they moved new neighbors in above me who were extremely loud on purpose, coming in at 2am drunk and can hear bead squeaking and my 7 year old child asking what that sound is. They didn’t respond to my complaints nor did they do anything about the inappropriate noises my child had to hear almost nightly. They also refuse to respond time regarding my notice to vacate and return my deposit as I left the apartments i the same shape I moved in!
