I would not recommend this property to students or families. The new management team, Parkmade, has been difficult to deal with, and I have experienced repeated overcharging and very poor communication when trying to get answers. The Rutgers Socam property also has serious safety concerns. There have been homeless individuals and drug-related activity near the entrance, and trash, paraphernalia, and other messes have repeatedly been left outside the building. I have reported these issues multiple times, sent photos, and asked for help, but management refuses to take action and instead has told me to call the police. In addition, the garbage trash chutes are full and the garbage itself is full with smelly trash, the wifi is slow and goes off without notice, what is unacceptable for college students. Once again, management does not seem to care. I am especially concerned because of the inappropriate comments from people outside the building, directed at my son and his girlfriend. She now refuses to come to his building. The situation outside is unsafe for young adults and I predict if the problem is not addressed a student is going to got assaulted or robbed. Please protect your students, especially your daughters and stay away!!

Really nice apartment. been living here for an year and its been great. they are amazing with receiving feedbacks and implementing changes. That said, while they have worked well with improving the gym, an addition of lat pull down machine would make the gym complete and the smith machine can also see some improvements seeing it is quite unstable and not fit to use.

honestly, i just dont understand why we have to pay for a utility bill that doesn't apply to just our apartment. over the summer, we literally don't even stay in our apartment and it is empty as we went back home for the summer but we are getting hit with a $60 utility bill even though no utilities are being used. just think its unfair and a rip off.

I really regret choosing Socam290 as my student housing. There are so many issues with Socam. First, at any given time there are one or two of the three elevators broken. This means that there is sometimes a 5-10 min wait to get out of the building even as someone on the second floor (there are no accessible stairwells to the lobby). Second, the hallways often smell of trash especially next to the elevators. Third, the building has walls that are thin as paper - you can hear every conversation and all the music played by your neighbors. Fourth, the neighborhood is just awful - inconvenient to have to take the EE (it’s 40 mins if you’re lucky to get where you need to go). Also, there are so many people outside yelling (which you can hear through the walls!) which generally makes the area feel very dangerous. Finally, Socam is just such a scam when it comes to value for money - they add a six dollar utilities fee just to process the bill (also why are they charging us for sewer - seriously…). Furthermore, they have multiple times randomly dropped my insurance which means that I have to deal with a hour long call to my insurance to get a new letter for them. They just recently added a 10 dollar charge after dropping my insurance unannounced- it’s honestly such a scam. They have been inundating me with renew lease messages since I moved because they clearly want to get you locked in before you wise up to how awful the value of this place is. I could not recommend it less.

Touring apartments is typically an incredibly stressful process for me as someone who won't just settle in any place. I was a little anxious walking into SoCam, but thankfully, the staff was welcoming and kind giving me a much needed sense of relief. I was given a tour of the apartment, as well as its corresponding facilities, by Amadou who did a wonderful job at explaining everything in great detail. He had an immense amount of knowledge and knew where everything was. It was quite impressive! And because of this experience, I will definitely think of SoCam as a potential place for the future!
