Favorite place I lived in Mount Pleasant! The apartments are huge! The storage space in the kitchen and linen closets are very useful. Utilities vary but are reasonable if you are smart with your usage like turning lights off and keeping your thermostat at a reasonable temperature! The office staff is very nice and gets back to you within 24 hours. Would recommend to anyone looking for an apartment!

This is going to be about as honest of a review as you can get. 3 stars is generous. I lived at Copper Beech for four full years. Right off the bat, the first thing I can tell you is that it’s a money pit, relative to all the other apartments in the area. If you’re okay with paying absurd electric and utility fees year round, then this is the place for you. There were multiple months in my apartment where my roommates were gone, straight up living elsewhere due to personal matters and in a three bedroom apartment I was still paying $100+ a month, which meant $300/month, sometimes $400/month was being collected per month from us three. My parent’s house back home which has over double the square footage only pays a third of what we had to for our apartment. It didn’t use to be this bad. Just to give you an idea of what it use to be, I use to pay a flat rate of $75/month for all utilities, which use to come with cable TV and covered water bills. They scrapped cable, and as of late force you to pay water on top of electric, and on all on top of general rent. So a typical month of rent could be $500, but add on all the extras and suddenly it’s closer to $750 per person. Don’t get me started on move-out fees. Those alone were an extra month of rent, and our apartment was fairly spotless minus pre-existing marks on the walls, that even if we made, are typically covered for free. Paint is suppose to be general maintenance on the complex, but EACH of us ended up paying $150+ for minor scuffs scattered throughout the apartment. I could go on-and-on but again, this should give you an idea of what to prepare for. Gone are the days of $400-500/month prices at Copper Beech. Try at least $650/month at best after everything is included. Towing I can understand the frustrations a little bit. I lived close to the office so there were times I had struggles parking due to guests, but rules are rules. That being said, there are empty rows that clearly never got used that could be expanded into guest parking, that would prevent a walk all the way from Commons Dr. There’s also security at the complex, which is nice for safety concerns, but they’ll be checking all vehicles for passes beyond 10 pm, especially on weekends. Generally speaking, the amenities were nice. In my apartment there was plenty of closet space, but across the complex, the gym, sand volleyball court, and pool were a hit. I do wish I could’ve visited them more, plus the study space and pool table in the main office. They use to have tanning beds (I never used) but they were removed midway through my lease presumably to cut down on maintenance costs. That being said, upgrades are needed. The entire gym/pool area is starting to feel dated, and some equipment was starting to deteriorate when I left in July of 2025. Might as well take out all the TV’s if you don’t provide cable anymore. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. Going in to Copper Beech, it had this social reputation of being boujee like The Reserve, but after visiting other apartments in my four years at CMU, it’s hard to justify the prices now when other complexes are catching up offering nearly the same stuff for a little bit less. My ratings on a scale from 1 to 10 below. Do take note I stayed in 4 and 3 bedroom deluxe apartments between the four year stay, so your experience may differ if you stay in a non-deluxe apartment. Memories - 9 out of 10 Rent Cost & Fees - 1.5 out of 10 Parking for Guests - 5 out of 10 Parking for Residents - 9.5 out of 10 Appliances - 8 out of 10 (4 out of 10 in non-deluxe apartments) Storage & Closets - 10 out of 10 Heat & A/C Performance - 4 out of 10 Physical Building Structure - 7 out of 10 Outdoor Space/Decks - 8 out of 10 Complex Amenities - 6.5 out of 10 Walkability - 7 out of 10 The average drive time to CMU on a good day is 7-10 minutes after finding parking. Overall, if I asked if it’s my top option to live there again, I’d say no. Unfortunate too because my experience at Copper Beech was so good when I first moved in prior really to 2023.

This is my 3rd year at Copper Beech and I have really enjoyed my time here! I The staff is great and maintenance is very helpful. They even came after hours to help us with issues! I like having my own private bathroom and the large bedroom/closets. I would recommend living here to any student.

The apartments are mostly okay. They do a pretty bad job cleaning though before you move in, so you should make sure you bring cleaning supplies. The rooms are pretty big though. MAKE SURE you read the move-in packets they give you. The office can NOT be trusted to give you correct information on parking passes and policies. They told me that even once my guest parking pass expired it would be okay, because the towing company doesn't even check the dates. I believed them, and didn't read about the parking policy and my car was towed. $150 to pick it up and I missed work that day. When I expressed my frustration and office team member apologized but in my opinion that doesn't really make up for what I lost. I also struggled to submit my photos for my inspection, and they wanted me to email every photo of the damages to them(over 100) which my phone simply said it could not support and they refused to reopen the inspection.
