Apartment was really not anything special, furniture is cheap and scratched/chipped, and they WILL charge you for every little thing when you move out. So many other people in the reviews had the same experience, they are crooks. Toilet wasn’t “clean enough” but it was perfectly white and I scrubbed it good, there was literally no reason to charge me $25 for a cleaning that certainly never happened on their end. Tried to dispute it, and another charge for the “missing chair” that was in the dining room and they charged me $90 saying it was missing. I didn’t have a picture of a chair so I couldn’t fight it. Take pics of everything, or better yet, find somewhere else. Not worth the money. Roommates were the exact opposite of my requirements, I don’t even know how they managed that. One of the worst renting experiences I have had, I am so disappointed. And seeing so many others who had the same experience with no changes on their end is really telling.

Moved out December, received little to no help in regards to subletting my lease. Months after, I was getting emails from them asking whether or not I had moved out. I've got several email threads already talking about my situation, why are you only now coming to an understanding? The main reason for this is, after I responded to my moveout situation, I received an email that my recurring payments were canceled. Which is great as I haven't been living there for a while and have no future intent to. So to go today and get a message about the apparently canceled payments being still charged is a bit odd? I get that the staff here is likely just a bunch of fellow U of I students just trying to get along with their lives, but this lack of remembrance or help, or any wanted form of follow up at all is unpleasant. Also they never replaced any of our messed up couches even though I asked/complained about it several times. Also the parking situation is nonideal.

Ah, the Grove. Probably the worst business I have ever had to deal with. Living there was fine but during move out they will charge you an exorbitant amount of money for things. They charge you double for things. They charge you a cleaning fee for a speck of dirt on the floor. They charged ME for paint to cover up mold that grew in the house. They moved a stranger to my house who then subleased to another stranger that trashed the place and still had the audacity to charge me. The Grove is a shady, shady business - and know that I am not in alone in this opinion - there are countless reviews (or just ask anyone in Moscow who has stayed here) who faced the same issues that I have, and I promise you there will be more. I know the Grove will reply to this and say something about the lease agreement or something like they do to all the negative comments on here, but trust me they are deathly allergic to transparency and honesty and will stop at nothing to bleed your bank account dry. Don’t let the facade of the amenities including the pool (that’s never open) or the fitness center distract you from the rotten core that is at the center of this cancer of Moscow that prays on first time apartment owners and clueless college students. They did not charge all roommates for damages equally, so you better hope that you’re not the unlucky resident they decide to pin it on!

Overpriced for worth. Pool is never opened, gym is never cleaned, ballet trash doesn’t come Friday or Saturday leaving disgusting build up of trash in the stairwells. The most annoying AI assistant for calls and emails.

The management here is beyond awful. They’re trying to make me pay twice for the same couch damage—damage caused by a cat, even though my daughter asked to be placed in a pet-free apartment. I’ve been calling and emailing for over two months with zero real help. If you care about your child’s well-being, do NOT let them live here!
