The Surf and Surfside Apartments, madison-wi

I lived at surfside and surf apartments for two years, going on three and management switched this past May. The new management is fantastic! In April, a week before exams my apartment caught on fire and the new manager was so kind, handled the situation amazingly, and did not charge me exurbanite fees (like the previous managers would've). Thanks to her kindness, I was able to study for my exams without having to worry about added financial burdens. She is also planning to replace some furniture, cabinets, and utilities in both properties, making the apartments significantly nicer. She also brings her dog to work! Super cute!

I spent the weekend moving my daughter into The Surf. While the location is fantastic I would have hoped that $1,300 would provide a much cleaner, polished apartment. This is a two bedroom apartment and EACH roommate is paying $1,300 which means this is a $2,600 rental! Many drips on walls, cabinets, doors are tattered, missing trim, grime in every nook and cranny. The dishwasher has debris at the bottom. Lots of evidence of previous tenants that could have/should have been painted over/repaired/replaced. Dresser drawers fall out when opened, mattress has stains and odor. I have grown up in Madison and am fully aware of downtown living conditions. But for $1,300 each her friends are in brand new rentals. Disheartening and disappointing. Hoping there is exemplary management to make up for subpar apartment condition. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further.

I have lived in Surf for the 2022/2023 academic year and my roommates and I have had an incredible experience. The location is exceptional and the views from our apartment are amazing. The apartment is very nice and the Surf team is very helpful and responsive. Highly recommended!

I have lived in the Surf for two years and the new management made move-in as smooth as possible. They had moving carts ready to go and allowed me to park in their lot while unloading. The building is a little dated, but it makes up for this in the amenities and outdoor common spaces. In my previous experience, the maintenance is quick to respond and fix any issues. During my first year living at the building I had my dishwasher stop working, and the maintenance determined it was broken beyond repair and replaced it within the day. I would highly recommend living at the Surf.

I have been living in The Surf for the past year and I couldn't be happier. The apartment is very nice and has great views of the lake. Also, it is well located, close to the city center and to university buildings like the business school or Bascom Hall. Finally, the atmosphere in the building is very good, and safe. I highly recommend living here!
