Edited: bad management and I wouldn’t recommend living here for the following reasons: the laundry machines and dryers are always broken, the windowless room (never heard of this anywhere else), the construction next door… this is a big one it genuinely shook our unit and was so loud with no courtesy about hours and this is grand central’s new apartment being built. They also increased our rent and immediately took away our gym when the new lease started… They honestly just have weird policies and I really think you should think twice before signing here because it just isn’t worth the price. The appliances are all old and we had to call maintenance often - I will say that I loved the maintenance guys they are really nice. But for the price… anywho that’s just my opinion but I regret signing here.

I have lived at Grand Central for over 3 years and have really enjoyed my time here. The location is absolutely amazing for getting around campus and the city as you are within walking distance of nearly everything. The management and maintenance teams have been really respectful and helpful over my time as well. If you want to live within the heart of it all while still living comfortably, I highly recommend Grand Central Apartments!

I live at Grand Central this year, and previously lived at X01. Both of the apartments and LZ Management overall are nothing but the best. The maintenance is quick with every request, the management team is always in office and is willing to help with anything and everything. The amenities are amazing too!! They have great activities for their tenants from ice cream trucks to dogs during every finals week! I have never lived in a place in Madison that feels more like home. 10/10 recommend to everyone looking for an amazing home in Madison:)

This was a great first apartment! It was nice to have everything included in rent! Maintenance was quick to address problems and always polite. Having our own gym (Brooks Street Gym) was useful for when the Nick was busy. I also appreciated seeing my landlord every week day. I knew I could come down to the lobby and talk with Taylor. The treats and surprises were a nice touch too! Overall, I would recommend for any student who wants to live close to campus and wants a safe, clean apartment, you can't do better than here!

I lived at Grand Central for 3 years and I have nothing but great things to say. I enjoyed my time there so much that I never felt a desire to switch apartments. The location is outstanding - living right next to the B school, chem building, and ed sciences, and only about a block away from most other major buildings meant that I never had to walk more than 5 minutes to class. Plus it's sandwiched between University and Johnson, which provides access to a huge number of bus routes. Maintenance requests were always completed quickly, the coffee shop in the lobby is great, there were free food events several times every year, and there's free/unlimited printing available. The landlord, Taylor, is great - he learns residents' names quickly and he is extremely responsive to any issues that get brought up. He's always looking for feedback and constantly improves the facilities/amenities. It's great to know that the management truly cares about the residents. The two issues I can think of are the cost and the fact that the walls are pretty thin. But those are problems at nearly every apartment complex at such a central location. The good news is that the rent carries absolutely no hidden fees and you get heat, A/C, water, electric, cable, internet, and even a really nice gym included in the rent. Overall if I started searching for an apartment all over again as an undergrad, this would definitely still be my first choice.
